This is that interview with John Hawkins that I was talking about here. He's going to write about it, and I'll link to him when he does. Meanwhile, I've excerpted some of my end of the phone conversations to make a little vlog.

Me too, and she is right. People get pissed off if I am rude to them. They just can't take rude.
Just say what you think. It makes life so simple.
People can google what you've said and it will be right. No danger of your boss finding out what you said! You already told him.
Often the improvers of society will take exception, is all.
Looking good sugar tits.
Dead on about driving people out. That's what internet nastiness is about.
It's also how fringe movements seem so big on the internet but so small anywhere else; they just drive out anyone who disagrees.
Why argue with the nutballs when you could be doing laundry?
Honestly, I couldn't imagine being an Althouse or a Malkin and dealing with some of the hateful and scary comments on my own. When someone (it rarely happens) writes nasty personal comments about me, I know that my co-bloggers have my back. It's not that I can't fight my own battles, but what a luxury to have someone in the bunker with me.
They're also quicker to pull the trigger on nasty people. I wonder if that's a gender difference - men are more likely to just call a spade a spade while women will engage someone a little more because we want to believe that we can reason with anyone.
Nah - that's probably not it either as I've seen plenty of men get into endless wars with some internet troll.
You're 57??? I thought you were 40. Forgive me for sounding like a sexist, but you look great for a 57 year old--Father Time has smiled on you dear lady.
Thanks, Sordid. That's why I say it. Pure vanity.
Where'd the video go?
Blake, I'm seeing it.
Huh. It's back now.
