Another good day for Obama.

He wins Maine:
With 70% reporting, Obama had 58% to Hillary's 41%. The surprisingly big victory for Obama came on the same day as the Hillary campaign signaled a recognition of its travails by announcing a shuffling of their inner circle, replacing campaign manager and longtime loyalist Patti Solis Doyle with longtime Hillary confidant Maggie Williams.
And it looks as though Obama is going to win through the rest of February: Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C., Wisconsin....

It's a little gruesome. Don't you feel just a little sorry for her?

Replace a longtime loyalist with a longtime confidant.

Well, that should do the trick. The ship is steady now, full steam ahead.

I did feel quite sorry for Hillary after Iowa. It lasted until her New Hampshire comeback. But I haven't felt sorry for her since then. I really have no idea which would be the better candidate. Granted, polls show Obama doing better against McCain, but Obama might be easier to destroy once the Republicans roll out their Swift Boat campaigns.

Mortimer Brezny म्हणाले...

No.

Vincent म्हणाले...

Yes, what could possibly be more tragic than Hillary's failure to utilize her massive advantages in every kind of resource to win the presidency on the back of her husband's marital indiscretions. How horrible for her that she'll be resigned to labor in untold agony as a multimillionaire U.S. Senator for the rest of her life. How incomprehensible that the voters would not want to reignite the psychodrama and cultural polarization of the 1990s in teh twenty-first century.

Woe!

What type of attack will work? The Clintons rolled the big guns out, and got backed off by racism claims. With the media 100% invested in the Dem choice the Gov. Wilder types will not have to make themselves heard, the reporters will do it for him. They will attack on experience, emphasizing things he has said and done, and drill them appropriately. If Hillary's Hispanic support splits from the party McCain will have an easy time. If not Obama can win it. Either way Hillary is taking a very public beatdown. Inevitable? Not so much.

No, I don't feel a bit sorry for the Hildebeest.

She's conniving, incredibly power-hungry and just plain nasty. To put her and her "husband" back in the White House would feel like having to sleep in a hotel bed when the sheets haven't been changed in weeks.

I voted for Bill. I would never, Never, NEVER vote for her. Not ever, not even against Huckabee (gags).

She's not even a decent politician, 'cause she can't dispose of a naive young, inexperienced opponent in the primaries.

Megalomaniacal weakling.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

Yeah I feel a bit for her. This is a lifelong dream she had and she was presumptive successor for the last 8 years since she joined the Senate. So she must be shocked and devastated- hell she does not even have a good strong marriage on fall back on.

Can't believe I am saying this.

tjl म्हणाले...

If Obama retains his momentum the superdelegates will not stand in his way. Of course many of the superdelegates are beholden to the Clintons; most revel in behind-the-scenes power brokering; and some no doubt yearn for the glory days of the smoke-filled room. None of this will matter because the superdelegates, as party insiders, will want to give the party the best odds of victory in November. Those odds increasingly favor Obama.

Larry Sheldon म्हणाले...

I have the feeling that two TV genres are playing out against each other here. American Idol has the momentum at the moment.

What's Hillary's show? Dallas?

Out of my field.

It needs a WWII movie to wipe it all clean.

for our troops whom she will all bring home right away
for people who need a better health care system
for taxpayers
for the children
yes i am a big hillary cockroach

Peter V. Bella म्हणाले...

I have no pity for any politician. She put herself out there, just like the rest. She deserves to win or lose, just like the rest. Unfortunaltely for her, she is slipping faster than a California mudslide.

She only wants two things; make history and vindicate the Clinton name. The very last thing we need right now is another legacy president.

It's all about Texas and Ohio if the Potomac primaries go for Obama, which I suspect they will. If Hillary doesn't get win big in those states, the whole superdelegate issue becomes a moot point, as they will have a strong frontrunner in Obama to rally around.

If that happens, we'll see if he can handle being the pointman for the Democratic Party, rather than just being the lovable prodigy, once the GOP noise machine kicks in and all this talk of "conservatives for Obama" disappears over the summer.

TMink म्हणाले...

Being sorry for her had never crossed my mind. I think I have felt sorry for Joe Lieberman, that his party knifed him in the back, well, they tried to! But I cannot recall feeling sorry for many politicians. It is a rough and tumble profession, and goes to the head of most of them.

I'm with middle class guy -- I don't feel sorry for any politician when elections don't go their way. I might be mad at them that they didn't campaign the way I thought they should to get elected (though not in Hillary's case), but sorry for them? No. If they don't want to lose elections, they should find another job.

And it's not like she's unemployed if she doesn't get the nomination.

Yes, Maxine, one is dealing with a real situation before her eyes, and the other is living a dream fueled by fear.

BTW, I never heard about a terrible accident on the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. What happened? Lose your nerve?

Elliott A म्हणाले...

Hillary is going the way of many of our contemporary stars. When you look closer, and get underneath the gloss, what you see isn't the same pretty package you once thought was there. She has none of her husband's charisma. Her political skill is meager when she doesn't have the big machine behind her. While very bright, she is not creative. Compare that to Obama, who has created a movement out of thin air, and captivates people in droves. The truth is that she is not that special, but thinks she is. We can feel sorry for her when she does finally realize that she is not that special and that she wasted forty years of her life in self-delusion.

Inspektor Friedrich म्हणाले...

Elliott A--Think about the poor supporters of Mrs Clinton.

If she goes, where shall they go?  What shall they do?

We'll vote for Obama, because we're loyal Democrats. Next question?

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

No, I do not feel sorry.

Sorry about not feeling sorry, that's the best I can muster.

In fact, I feel a bit of that despicably delicious schadenfreude one gets when they witness the ambitions of truly ambitious being squashed in slow motion. A portion of me hates myself for that. Is it because I felt an absence of sympathy when my own ambitions were squashed? Naaaah, no one ever squashed me that I know about. Then the portion of me that's not disgusted with that feeling overtakes the portion that is disgusted and silences it completely.

What a silly question to ask. If anything I feel sorry for her embalmer who is challenged to make her look good each morning, and her photographer who insists only so much Gaussian blur can be applied to any given portrait.

McCain is PRAYING to run against Hussain Obama? Its the only way he can get elected.

Ha Ha. McCain beats Hillary like a gong:

First, Hillary is running on experience: Mc Cain has more experience. Second, Hillary is running on ability to be President on Day One -- no learning curve. As long as we're at war in Iraq, Mc Cain's military experience makes him far better qualified to be President on Day One. Third, vast swaths of the electorate viscerally hate Hillary; people at least respect Mc Cain for his service.

Mc Cain's biggest negatives are his age and his Republicanism. Mc Cain has taken the curse off his Republicanism by carving out a position distinctly different from W., and by originating bipartisan reform initiatives, such as McCain-Feingold. Hillary can make little of her age because she is only a decade younger.
