The big debate.

This seems as though it will be the most momentous primary debate ever. With only two participants, it should seem more like a debate between two party nominees -- perhaps like JFK and Richard Nixon.

Unfortunately, I am at LaGuardia waiting for a flight and there's no WiFi. Man, the Northwest gate area is pathetically shabby. But the lack of WiFi is the worst part of it. At least the debate is on CNN and that's the channel the TVs are set on. And I've got my iPhone, so I can get in some rudimentary blogging and give you a place to comment. And perhaps I'll develop a little skill at thumb typing.

ADDED: At 8, the channel changed from CNN to some basketball game! I guess I will try to locate some live-blogging. I have never attempted to follow a debate by reading some blogger's stray thoughts. Maybe I will learn something about blogging. But... Damn!

AND: I've reached my destination. Madison, Wisconsin. And CNN is rerunning the debate. It's 1 ET, though, so I'm not absorbing it too well. I note that Barack Obama is wearing a lavender tie.

Slow down. Turn off the electronics.

There is beauty in pathetic shabbiness.

Enjoy the moment.

1. Thumb-thing in the way she types . . . attracts me like no other blogger . . .

2. No Starbucks? I think I might have read somewhere recently there’s a Starbucks everywhere and they all have wifi. Something like that.

3. Going to the candidate's debate. Laugh about it, shout about it, when I’ve got to choose, every way I look at it, things pretty much stay the same for me and mine.

4. So much for the little black duck.

5. Ha!

The "debate" thus far:

Vote for me and you'll get free health care. Don't worry about the cost, we'll raise taxes on everyone but you. We'll also demand that the pharmaceutical companies lower their prices.

The Bush administration this, the Bush administration that, yadda, yadda, yadda.

Gaaack.

This is a very important debate. More important the ten that preceeded it. Not as important as the seven that will follow it. Let's panic until we can follow it.
Whoooo boy. Nothing like dirty politicans mouthing meaningless platitudes and outright lies.

What time is the North Carolina State vs Vanderbilt game on? I think Fordham vs Manhattan is on MSG tonight. And ESPN has the lumberjack contests at 10pm. Now that's some real log rolling.

Hey the Celebrity Apprentice is two hours tonight. I wonder if Big Pussy is going to clock that English douche bag. I mean I know he likes to slap around girls.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Let's start our own debate.

Which is the better whiskey- Scotch, Irish or Kentucky bourbon?

It's Scotch, I say, and when I am your leader, I will lower the price of Scotch for everyone, and roll back the price cuts on Kentucky bourbon imposed by the Bush administration and their friends in the big bourbon lobby.

rcocean म्हणाले...

I'm listening to the debate with a drink in hand but its not scotch.

Hillary was impressive, she out pandered Obama on every point.

And to those who came here illegally, come out of the shadows, 'cause Hillary loves you.

Would would a certain MySpace User , let complete strangers add him to their buddy lists??

I would think you'd wanna chat with these people a bit first, before letting them add you.

It's a little like this Gal, we all know, who holds "meet-ups" with
complete strangers who just happen to be in town for a visit and contact her out of the blue; via email, of course .

The debates are a waste of time. Hillary is losing support from the institutional Dems- Pelosi, Kennedy, Volcker, and others. If she keeps harping on the Florida/Michigan delegates, the DNC may just tell her to take a hike.

Plus, the media just woke up and are finally digging into her past. It aint pretty.

If I were voting Democrat I would pick Obama.

That comment I deleted asked who S. was, and then I noticed just as I hit publish. It isn't one of Maxine's many aliases, is it Maxine? How many do you have now? I lost count. Anyway, the wording isn't up to Maxine's standards. Close, but no cigar, eh, Maxine?... It looked like another infamous one was busy playing on yet another thread so I doubt it is her... Maybe its one of "Our Man in Rio's" many puppets. (He wore his socks out long ago, I hear.)

Actually it was pretty good. Reasonable people talking rationally and not in sound bites. You may or probably won't agree with the content and the responses but it was well spoken, reasoned and generally prudent.

If you want "lost" or the latest "deep space 9" i'm sure the republicans will be on soon....mccain/romney tweedle dumb and tweedle dummer...

and i love the pollsters now...remember when romney entered the race he shot to the lead, then thompson and he shot to the lead and died, then huckfinn did well in iowa and he shot to the lead and died...now these two have substantial poll numbers in the GOP camp...and does that mean that the GOP voter says...i love that guy...no i love that guy...no i love this guy...no i love this new guy...no i love who is left...who is left?

Socialism and isolationism.
Sure!
It worked for Britain!

They used to be masters of the civilized world, but by 1979 they were borrowing money from the IMF and had to sell off all their assets to stay afloat. Now all they got left is their free health care. But it'll still work, 'cause they'll stop treating old people, fat people, smokers, and people with diseases that are basically their own fault anyway, the wankers.

Yes, let's do that. Because socialism is free money. And who doesn't like free money?

AS I trudged in to work this morning, a thought occurred to me: What if Bill Clinton died today? (I'm not wishing him ill, just wondering). Would this hurt Hillary in the long run?

I think in the short term, she'd get a nice pity the poor widow vote bounce on Super! Tuesday! And in the long run, would people be more inclined to vote for her because a lot of the old baggage would be left behind?

Peter V. Bella म्हणाले...

House,

The pollsters have been wrong all year. But, like the media, they never admit their errors. They just re-poll, make mistakes again and move on. They do make a nice buck though. Think we're in the wrong business.

"(referring to HRC) Plus, the media just woke up and are finally digging into her past. It aint pretty."

Why do you say things like this? Just woke up? and are "finally digging"?

There has been non-stop digging at her for 15+ years. there are more websites dedicated to hurling at her than actually talk about her (google hillary clinton, then add "scandal" and you can find every fool on earth searching in the tall grass trying to find something.

What "media" are you referring to when you say "finally"? She may well be the most investigated woman on this planet.

What in the world are you talking about?

The Celebrity apprentice was really good. There was betrayal and conflict, back biting and back stabbing. Bad hair (Trump). It was like a weekend in the campaign. But you could just shut it off and go back to sleep.

But you can't deny statistics indicate most murder victims knew their assailants.

I didn't specify how he'd die -- I think it will be some cardiac-type event when it does happen. It's just that my mind wanders when I walk into work, and that popped into my head.

I wonder how many of the campaigns have action plans for such a thing, though. How to react, what to do, etc.
