It's Grande Conservative Blogress Diva time again.
Vote for me if you're so inclined. Vote every day for a week if you really care. Now, maybe you're thinking: "Grande Conservative Blogress Diva," what is it, and is it really Althouse? You could discuss that here. I recommend devising a definition that will make it crushingly obvious that I should win. You know, it can't possibly mean: Who's the most conservative female blogger. It's more like: Who's the biggest diva blogger for conservatives? Think about it.

Think about it.
Past experience would lead me to expect that your more critical commenters will OVERthink it and write long, boring, screeds about it.
Last year we were required to decide between you and MKH but this year she's not even in the running so you'll certainly get my vote.
Just who does Sondra K think she is?
Well, it's on the masthead: me-diva.
You-vote-a.
[Tarzan yell.]
How can I vote for a woman who last I knew was a registered Democrat, voted for Al Gore (I believe), etc. as Conservative Blogress Diva? Maybe Moderate Blogress Diva, that I could easily do.
I find it interesting that Ann is now considered a conservative for voting for George W. Bush this last time, mostly I think from her rejection by the left. I think of Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter as conservative, but not Ann.
That said, I do love Ann's blog, as attested by my many postings over the last couple of years. But part of that is that it is (usually) a great place for the left and the right to meet on fairly even terms.
Simon,
I thought you were all about Tammy Bruce.
Bruce, my theory is that I'm a diva for conservatives, and I think you should appreciate the dimension of the achievement given the handicap of not even being conservative. Plus, I am perceived as a big right winger by the left-o-sphere. How does that happen? I think I should get extra credit under the circumstances.
John, I have a lot of time for Tammy, but in this contest, it's not even a contest.
Simon: Althouse and Bruce in a grudge match?
Ruth Anne, it's like a game played by the Hackensack Comets and the Indy Colts. Calling it a "match" might overstate the matter. You remember those "Godman" cartoons? It's like that.
;)
Since "conservative" and "liberal" have no real meaning in today's pluralist world, then I think it's entirely appropriate that you should win this contest.
As Oprama... Obaprah... Oprabama... Oprah's theme-song used to wail: You're every woman. It's all in you.
Kiddie Pool. 30 gallons of jello. Grudge Match. Pay per view.
I am sure Simon will be glad to be the ref.
Almost forgot. Thong.
Trooper, with all due respect to her, I don't think anyone wants to see Tammy Bruce in that little clothing.
That's a pretty diva-esque post. But, remember, this is a contest run by gay conservatives to determine that blogress who commands the respect of guys like us. We nominated you because, as you put it last year, you piss liberals off.
And we gay men love women who speak their mind. And we gay conservatives love women who speak their mind without obsessing over how those in our p.c. media will receive them.
er, without obsessing how those in the p.c. media will receive their remarks.
"Self Portrait in Blue" doesn't say "Grande Conservative Blogress Diva" to me.
Perhaps something more Victorian. A high collar, lots of lace, and a riding crop.
"Self Portrait in Blue" says "She Who Must Be Obeyed" to me.
Ann: do you really want to be in a competition with such steaming heaps as Michelle Malkin and Debbie Schlussel?
Now Ann, I'm not sure I can vote for you:
The problem is, as a liberal, I don't necessarily want you to win.
True, you are about 85% conservative, but there are those of us who root that the 15% will show up whenever it's time for a new post.
Most of those on that list are conservative mainly just to be conservative. It's where their bread and butter are, so they determine what the conservative position is and then write a post on it. I hope you aren't thinking of stooping to that level.
you are about 85% conservative
I have to wonder if anyone who thinks Ann is "85% conservative" actually knows any conservative people.
rev, eli is obviously liberal. I call this perspective distortion. If you are out on the leftwing, moderates look conservative and conservatives look reactionary. Similarly, from the right wing moderates look liberal and liberals look communistic. I find Ann to be an eyelash to the right of dead center.
There are no conservative or liberal Divas. There are only fabulous Divas.
Simon, we don't need Trooper York in a thong, liberal or conservative!
Michele Malkin is scary, and Virginia Postrel looks too much like Ann Coulter, so you get the nod, Perfesser.

Well, I think that for the most part, that embodies a somewhat stereotypical view of conservative women that has never really well applied to women in the modern conservative movement. On the other hand, the riding crop sounds tantalizing.
Eli, I always say what I think... to the extent I feel amused or moved to say it. I'm too old and too independent to do anything else, and I'm not looking for any rewards other than finding readers for doing just that.
And they're off.. Althouse, out to an early lead...
The Word From On High
I am Althouse, above the fray,
And I'll damned well say what I damn well say!
To my readers not up to snuff:
Your choice: make an effort or go get stuffed!
Almost forgot. Thong.
SondraK's in the match, then?
I have to vote Ann. Others on the list are good bloggers but none touch Ann when it comes to Diva-ness.
I agree with Bruce -- I really do not think of Althouse as a conservative or even as a libertarian.
Ann -- I do think you are a diva (and in a positive sense). But part of it is that in law schools and academia, the general belief is that the Al Gore of 2000 was a far right winger.
Face it, I was friendly with many of my law professors, but most of them were politically far to the left.
Anthony, if we were to discuss who was the bigger diva, Mariah Carey or Eva Cassidy, would we be discussing which is a better singer or which displays more diva-like behavior?
(And if that doesn't convince you, recall that a diva is a form of divinity in mythology, and our hostess is, after all, the divine Ms. Althouse.)
I think the professor might need a little help to win in the diva contest. So maybe she can throw her cellphone at the maid.
Or start dating Bobby Brown.
Or appear in a vlog with the afore-mentioned riding crop.
Or appear in a vlog with the afore-mentioned riding crop.
thats hawt.
arrogant, difficult to work with, high-maintenance, manipulative, fussy, highly strung and/or demanding.
You got my vote!!
I mean it’s not like the professor isn’t working on moving up on the list. She already got in a fight while trying to get into a New York hot spot. She threw a fit at a slow moving barista in Starbucks and tried to hit an airline reservation clerk with her Kindle. She has already passed Tara Reid and is right behind Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton.
Perfect your Hungarian accent and you're guaranteed a win!

Now I'm wondering if blogress is short for bl(onde) ogress.
