Why is there a surf shop in Brooklyn?
I've said it before: the East River is part of the Atlantic Ocean. Look at a map. (I know some people don't have maps.) But if you have a map, look at it, and you'll see that both ends of the so-called river connect to the Atlantic Ocean.

So New Yorkers can shop for trips to Long Island and points south? Isn't it said, too, that you can find everything in New York? Thus, the city surf shop makes some small bit of sense.
All's I'm saying is there is a beach with surf between the two bridges.
And an understandable reluctance to let one's child touch the water...
"Taste it, it's salty!"
I think you mean a beach with a wake washing ashore.

For local surfing, Brooklynites would be most likely to take the subway to Rockaway Beach. (Bus ride is too slow and they blast out the disco on the radio.) The Brooklyn beaches are too deep in the harbor.
there used to be a great strip club in the hotel…called the Wildfire…great place to find crabs…
I wonder why such a strip club would ever close.
