Ann, there's a lunar eclipse happening this coming Tuesday the 28th. Starting around 4am your time. Dawn will get to you before it's totally eclipsed but it'll likely be a grand view from your apartment even still.
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea, But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark; For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.
Beautiful pictures (and quite profound recitation, Inwood). There's something calm and majestic and yet bursting with energy about NYC, isn't there? I can understand falling in love with the place.
She's miserable! The noise pollution is unbearable. There's no soundproofing in that building. The ambient noise of the helicopters, diesel ships etc... The lound next door neighbors... And, with no car she can't go anywhere. Funny that her employers provide housing, but no car. They must be afraid she'll take off.
Come, my friends. 'Tis not too late to seek a newer world. Push off, and sitting well in order smite The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths Of all the western stars, until I die. It may be that the gulfs will wash us down; It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles, And see the great Achilles, whom we knew. Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho' We are not now that strength which in old days Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,-- One equal temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.
If you are lucky enough to have read the blog of the law professor in New York, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Althouse is a moveable feast.
Thank you for the vicarious pleasures of living well in New York, which I hear tell is the best revenge.
Come on post about all the liberals in NYC that bitch at you because you voted for Bush.
When can we expect those fun times?
Yeah, our sunsets are beautiful, are men amazing, women the best-but the worst is that the place is liberal.
Now come on girl start digging into the inside of all those facades you took pictures of.
All the commies, bush haters, etc.
That will be coming in the near future. Can't wait for the first pictures of some art opening that has pictures of Bush in an unflattering way. The independent Althouse will be bullshit.

Vlog time!
I love my porch, but I now realize that the view is sorely lacking.

Alfred, Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.
You're having a great time. Those of us who love you are thrilled that this year will be great fun for you.
Will you ever be able to go back to WI again?

What kind of wine is that??
But, she's not having a great time.

To Maxine
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning from afar
Of the City as calamity.
To Maxine, direct from Tennyson:
"A still, small voice spake unto me,
Life is so full of misery,
Were it not better not to be' "
Patca: The profundity was all Tennyson’s
beautiful. i love new york, and i love tennyson.

She's got you all duped. Duped, I say!
Althouse is blogging from an undisclosed location far beneath the earth's surface. The New York City thing is just a ruse.
I love the new Tennyson craze around here.
With apologies to a writer of a different sort:

Life is just a bowl of berries....
Actually, those are tomatoes.
Tomatoes are berries!
I was just going to ask what was in that bowl... As I eat my Frosted Flakes right now, those look good.
I wish I didn't have to go to work today... There is so much I need to get done.
Tomatoes are vegetables!
Your photos are wonderful. If the law thing falls through you can always get a job with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.
"..."vegetable" is strictly a culinary term with no botanical
meaning..."!
Ann,
No post on Sen. Larry Craig?
That's what I want to talk about!

How many square feet do you have?
That is an important question.
Also, is that your own private outdoor space or do you (eh,hem) share???
Just beautiful, with or without the Tennyson...
