It was a day spent walking, stopping in one café after another (grading one exam at each stop), shopping (everything in my favorite store was 36% off), and lunching at Cocoliquot. Since I was alone and since I can't very well eat and grade an exam, I cued up a podcast to keep me company:
Lunch was chestnut soup and an eggplant sandwich:

Is your iPod engraved with something like "It's a podcast of the odd last few days"?
I was trying to make it show up in the photograph, but it ended up being more of a mystery... that you solved right away.
Your exams get ubiquitous mention in a number of recent posts. How's that grading going? I admire your integration of grading/blogging/walking/lunching! I sometimes can't focus on other things if I have a lot of work to do...rather be blogging, of course!

Your lunch looks so good on that square plate. I gotta start lunching at better places even when I'm by myself. I finally got an iPod (for Xmas) too. The new Shuffle, which rules in case anyone was wondering. Keeps everything nice and simple, and you can't even feel it on you. It's liberated me from Creative Zen MP3 player frustrations. :)
That food wasn't pretty.
Ha! What a hoot. Isn't it 3 weeks into winter break? Shouldn't the grading be finished by now??? :) !
Cocoliquot looks very cool!

That soup gives me a sudden craving for poi.
Beware of anyone with an I-pod and no finger smugges on it. A sure sign of a knife and fork girl if I ever saw one.
hdhouse: Actually, I did eat that sandwich with a knife and fork, but my iPod is always all smeary on the shiny side, because I never let my hands dry out. I use hand cream every time I wash them. But I polished the iPod up before setting it down for the photo.
O how I miss my visits to Madison!
I may have to make a special trip just to treat myself to Cocoliquot!
qcpn!

That meal is much too pretty, Professor. Delicious-looking, yes, but pretty, nope.

awwww and i was fantasizing that you were one of those infamous women who put down silver after a turkey dinner without a mark and drink a chilled martini without lipstick on the glass....

The eating establishments that you frequent are nearly empty as depicted in your photos.
Odd? ehh!
When you say you were alone did you mean you were the only one at your table or the only one in the restaurant? I hope they do a better dinner business. ;-)

This restaurant closes at 2 between lunch and dinner and I showed up at quarter to 2, which accounts for the emptiness. Also, I usually aim my camera so it doesn't show other people. And in general, I'm more likely to take photos that show the whole room if the restaurant is empty.
No. No. No. The real story is that Ann is such a wingnut (true) that all of Madison shuns her (not true).
These are some of the best photos I have seen you post. The one of the folks going up the stairs is a slight favorite of mine, but I really enjoy and appreciate these.
What camera? The images have an interesting color balance that is different from my nikon stuff. Sometime when you are bored, please check out my little photoblog: http://www.tmink.fotix.net

Ever think of doing just a photoblog?
I'd be the first one to read it.
That Ann, such a keen eye for composition (one can tell before she was a lawyer, she was an artist).
The photos in this blogpost, are beyond inticing.
