Maybe you didn't think there would ever be a new episode of the podcast, but here it is, Audible Althouse #71. I talk about why I haven't been podcasting, the CNN "e-lection" night party, Bloggingheads.tv, Buster Keaton, Rod Stewart, O.J. Simpson, that guy who had sex with a deer carcass... etc., etc. It's a podcast, in other words.
Stream it right through your computer here. But all crazily busy people know it's best to subscribe on iTunes:

Yesterday I said to myself: "Self," I said, "there's just not going to be another podcast. You WILL live through it." And today I went to my therapist and asked if there was some sort of group grief therapy he could recommend. I was due to start with it tomorrow night. Now it looks like I've got tomorrow night free. Maybe I'll listen to the podcast then. But maybe I won't. I'd already given up on it.
Okay, okay...I'm definitely going to listen. But next time I might not be so forgiving.
Anyway, thanks for podcasting for us again. We do so enjoy them.
Great to see a new podcast. I did, indeed, wonder if you'd be back in podcast form.
(This comment I managed to post w/o typos, and with more brevity--both good things.)
It's like riding a bike, right?
Harry Houdini: Erich Weiss, born in Appleton, Wisconsin. I didn't know his connection to Buster Keaton. I think Houdini deserves a front page mention!
Althouse: on the edge of hip. Heh.
Hi Ann,
I always enjoy your podcasts, but can you turn the recording levels up? I have to turn my small portable speaker up very high in order to hear you, then at the end of the podcast I have to reach over and quickly turn it WAY down as the "Audible Althouse" song cranks up.
There you go - that wasn't so tough. :) There's always more to say than merits the time and effort to type.
I, too, had despaired of ever hearing another Althouse podcast. And I had given up hope of getting the inside scoop on sex with dead animals. But now - both in the same place. And just before Thanksgiving. It's a Festivus miracle!
Lou: Did you listen to the new one? I thought I did something about that.
Re:
"I'm just an aging woman in madison, wisconsin"
In a strict sense, it might be technically accurate to say that a bottle of 1990 Montepulciano resting in a midwestern wine cellar is "an aging bottle of wine," but that would surely fail to capture the spirit of the enterprise...
Hi Ann,
Thanks. No, I haven't listened to this one yet.
Welcome back, podcast! I'm trying to work "Blattnerphone" into my conversations at any opportunity, but the subject just doesn't come up very often.
