"Well, there goes my plans for 'Rats in the Operating Room.'"
Says Adam, commenting on the slack performance of "Snakes on a Plane" at the box office this past weekend. And that stirred up an ancient memory of a song called "Rats in My Room." Anyone else remember that? Why am I not finding the lyrics on the web? I've never tried to look up song lyrics and not found them. It's something like: Rats in my room/I am bothered by some rats in my room/By some creepy little rats in my room/I can't stand rats in my room. Then there are a lot of verses, each for a different animal, e.g., "fly in my eye."

Here's a CD containing a track with that title, sung by a Leona Anderson.
I suspect you;'re referring to the great version by NRBQ (here).
Ha! Love that song. My brother used to play it, very loud.

That kind of stuff drives me crazy...
My mom always can get me going with-"you know the name of that actor in that movie...."
Sheesh!
I predict a takeoff will appear soon on YouTube entitled, "Snacks on a Plane."
Yeah, but it's exceedingly rare that you get that kind of pop culture promotion going. The fact that it didn't work is significant. It wasn't "Blair Witch Project."
What it reminds me most of is "The Green Slime." Years ago. You don't remember.
Real Snakes on a Plane. Well in the theatre.
If there hadn't been any promotion I highly doubt the movie would have come in first place at all for the weekend. These kinds of movies are sci-fi Saturday filler, not choice entertainment.
However, I actually didn't run across the promotion to the movie in my wanderings online. More common, it seems, was the hoopla about how much expectation blogs were creating.
I wonder if this is not first off a sign of a movie that didn't catch, but instead another sign that blogs are significantly influential to each other but not to the wider society. A lot of smoke is created, not a lot of actual fire when the numbers come out.
This has been shown in politics. Maybe it's true across the board. The internet doesn't have as much influence as it says it does.
Never bank on a cult flic being a blockbuster.
Like, a Johnny Depp pirate movie? Or, "the death of Jesus, as told in Aramaic with no-name actors"? How about, A Greek Family Comedy with no name stars?
