I figured out how to make a little video using my new iMac with its built-in iSight camera, using Quick Time Pro. My first attempt was rejected by YouTube as a "Terms of Service Violation," and I was crushed. I really felt quite chastened and hurt that I'd committed a wrong. You might think I have a thicker skin that that, but apparently not! I felt shame and confusion. Finally, I figured out that it was more than 10 minutes long. The burden of my sins felt lighter, but I did have to spend some time figuring out how to edit, to strip away about 2 minutes, which I did a bit crudely. Anyway, let me know what you think of vlogging as an addition to the blog. It's in an update to this post about Eugene Volokh responding to me. Let's see him vlog a response!
ADDED: And if someone can tell me how to get the picture to align left, I'd appreciate it. AND: Problem solved.

I don't know how you insert movies in Blogger- did you type in the < embed > code yourself or is it automatic? The problem is that the size of the movie is too big for your blog layout. Because the css is telling it to clear both (sides) and it's bigger than your layout can handle, it floats over the text on the right. Depending on how you inserted the movie link into the post, you can set the display size. If you can, let me know how you insert the movie into the Blogger post and I can probably tell you how to fix it.
Not sure you can do this on a OBJECT tag, but you can try adding style="float:left;"
Do not like Vlogging. One reason I love blogs so much is that you can read them, refer to them, copy some of the text and comment on them, not to mention check them at work where you either don't have a sound card or you don't want to be watching video.
Ugh. As much as I would dearly appreciate your voice and visage, please just keep typing.
Palladian: That was the cue I needed. I remembered how I dealt with the problem before. I just changed the number in the width code from 600 to 500.
Anthony: Yeah, and also, it's not going to show up in Google searches. Anyway, it will be like the photos, just an addition for variety. Another question is whether I should switch from audio podcasts to video.

If you're looking for reader comment here, I greatly prefer the video. I ran it in a window in the corner of my computer screen while I worked. It was very nice.
I first posted this in your other post because, well... I wasn't paying attention. Your align left problem: I don't know how much of this you have control of, but your defined "Object" width is 425 while your defined "Embed" width is 600. If you make you embed width 425 as well, you'll be able to align as you choose, left or otherwise.
SC: Thanks for making me laugh! It's been a tough day and I really needed that.
Well, you are going to have to think about things such as set design, movement, hair makeup, wardrobe, action etc..
Nobody wants to watch someone who's just sitting in a chair.
If it's just gonna be you sitting static in a chair.....
Yawn.
Talking dolls.
You have to be doing, running, cooking, driving...
...while you are chatting about whatever.
There has to be visual interest.
Ever changing hairstyles, a different shade of lipstick each post, a different background, and a always engaging in a different activity.
Example: You talk about North Korea while scrambling eggs.
Or--
You pontificate about Election 08, while roller blading through the park....with, as yet, an entirely different outfit.
---that type of thing.
I wouldn't do it.
I don't have the clothes budget or stylist to help me out like I'd need!

it takes some practice but looking at the camera continuously would make the vlog feel more personal.
