I said I would never go back to high school. But... I'm a dork. Every time, after Latin class, I'm so happy. And I just think, I want to feel like that all the time. I want to teach high school Latin.

That's cute. When I read one of these posts, I always think it would be such a trip if the subject happened to be a reader of your blog. Like Mr. Fruity Sweater or the Stinking White Bitch man or even the Bush vs. Everything on Earth table folk.
Halo: I think SciFi is considered dorky.
Jennifer: I'd like to think some high school kid in the future is reading this and wondering if the person I'm talking about is the teacher he has now, maybe some new, struggling teacher that he didn't respect before and now he suddenly feels the love.
lorem ipsum dolor sit amet!
hah.
My favourite (real) saying, though, is forsan et haec olim meminisse juvabit. Or something to that effect. We ought to teach high school students Latin again, require valedictorian perorations in Latin, etc. Sprinkle Senate speeches with bits of Greek learning. Revive the old rhetorical tradition.
Or so I think until I remember that we have an awful lot of trouble teaching our children arithmetic and standard English. Ah well.

You can be a dork and still end up going to law school. I was in chess club in HS, and was president of the Latin Club. Also, was in marching band (French horn) so I wouldn't have to take PE. I did ski race through HS and college, so wasn't a total loser, but close.
The good part of having had 4 years of Latin in HS and another couple in college was that Latin phrases in law school were fairly easy to learn, esp. as many were self-evident. The bad part of it is that I still try to use a Latin plural much too often even after 35 years since my last Latin class. (For example, the plural of virus is viruses, not viri).

Was anyone taking the opposite side of that debate? Would anyone?
The real dorks are the engineers who went to law school.

Was the speaker male or female?
I find that I have a different opinion of him/her depending on how I imagine it. Wonder why?
