The Dalai Lama.
The Panchen Lama: "I've been to many places in the past decade and witnessed the ample freedom enjoyed by individuals and religious organisations alike. Living Budhhas like myself are able to perform religious rituals under the wing of the Chinese constitution and other laws."

Tibet is such a sad case.
When China reoccupied Tibet a half-century ago, almost all of its population was native Tibetan. After 50 years of quiet encouragement by the central government, the ethnic Han (95% of Chinese are ethnic Han) are believed to outnumber the Tibetans by margins of 3:1 and 4:1 in most of the country. Tibet will never return to the Tibetans.
This is nothing new for China. They have done it throughout their history. Tibet, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Manchuria are but the latest examples.
The Dalai Lama has said that the Jews might be a model for Tibetans dispersed and deprived of their country. “Such spirit! They’ve kept their culture and religion alive for two thousand years.” I heard him say that (or something very like it) in person. It’s a nice thought, but I’m afraid the Tibetans are more isolated than the Jews were when they lost to the Romans. There already was a large Jewish diaspora before the destruction of the Temple, which provided an obvious model and infrastructure for survival. The Tibetans have no such advantage.
We have been witness to the murder of an ancient and important culture and have been unable or unwilling to do anything. The wheel turns.
Anyone who has ever "practiced" knows the Way. Youth has always been impetuous&impulsive.
HHDL is right but we think he is impractical.
Until we practice daily, right thinking is not in us.
