Anyway, happy first blogiversary to Richard Lawrence Cohen, who says, among other things:
One of the two best things for me about this year of blogging – and the less expected of the two – has been the feeling that I belong to a group of congenial, bright, interesting people – friends -- who welcome and accept me, an unbounded neighborhood of thinkers and writers who come and go, stopping by to chat whenever they like, and who can agree or disagree without rancor. The stable heart of this community is a cozy “pod” of frequent commenters and fellow bloggers, but the community’s borders can expand instantly, infinitely, in any direction, through the amazing network of links that is the blogosphere. Anyone can join immediately just by appearing.Ah, yes, there's something about a blog with comments. You make a place, and a community develops. How strange and cool that it works so well!

Well Ms. Ann I have pretty much regarded your blog as a friendly, pub-type place with good fare and conversation. In real life if that were the case, you might well bounce any number of us out, myself included.
Thanks, Ann old friend. I mean middle-aged.
SILICON
Drill Sgt:
Somehow, that brings up more than one image in my mind ...
(Self to self: Stop that this instant, darn it! [Slap. Slap.])
Silicone is the stuff of inflated body parts.
Silicon is the stuff of lubricating parts
(that's parts like in bicycle gears you dirty minded fools!)
(and I'm not speaking for The Drill Sgt, I don't know which one he meant either)
I think a first blogiversary present ought to be a novelty mouse (like say a Hello Kitty model (can't go wrong with Sanrio))
I forgot to whine about people (except for Pooh and Reader_Iam, thanks for all the comments) not commenting on my recently formed blog
All posts are in some way about me (even when they are not)
And though I have lurked more than commented at Mr. Cohen's blog, I do enjoy his writing and hope to see many more blogiversaries celebrated over there (2nd blogiversary gift suggestion, novelty keyboard)
And ignore my previous post, the lubricant and the stuff of inflated body parts are both spelled 'silicone' (silicon is the element), in my best Emily Litella voice, "nevermind".
(don't you hate it when you are attempting to be pendantic and end up dead wrong instead (not that being pendantic and dead right is much better))
"(don't you hate it when you are attempting to be pendantic and end up dead wrong instead (not that being pendantic and dead right is much better))"
Don't I ever! Especially when I spell "pedantic" with an extra "nn."
Meade, I Hear You. I spelled Hydriotaphia incorrectly over at RLC's blog recently, and was mortified all day. I felt like, just, no more than a plain garden variety sciolist.
Can I claim intentional irony for my spelling error?
(Of course I can claim it, I guess I should say instead, will you believe me if I claim intentional irony?)
(see, again I'm making this thread about me)
silicon, a semi-metalic, is the second most common element(after oxygen) on earth and is a major component of solid state electronics (or was).
As in SILICON VALLEY you perverts.
she said electron anniversary, I was offering an alternative
"Silicon is present in the sun and stars and is a principal component of a class of meteorites known as aerolites. Silicon makes up 25.7% of the earth's crust by weight, and is the second most abundant element, exceeded only by oxygen. It is found largely as silicon oxides such as sand (silica), quartz, rock crystal, amethyst, agate, flint, jasper and opal. Silicon is found also in minerals such as asbestos, feldspar, clay and mica."
