Opening a 2-liter of soda in a car? You got what you deserved. I remember a similar reaction from a friend from years ago when I drove to work and explained the mess on my shirt as having been the result of trying to eat a Whopper while driving.
You would have thought I'd learn my lesson, as this has happened before. Last time I did it I was sitting at a red light on the way home from work, opened a lively bottle just as the lights changed, and had to just drive on while the Coke bubbled up all over my best suit.
This is one of many reasons I should never be placed in a position of authority.
Thank you. I just got an email telling me that I have been rated as a Regional USA Volleyball Referee (in case you wanted to know why you congratulated me).
That's only worth congratulations if it's for refereeing women's volleyball. Not to sound like I'm only interested in one thing, but watching a group of sweaty guys in short shorts doesn't scream out 'fun' to me :)
Just think, before the 'net age, you'd have had to rent whatever one calls that space on a a lit-up scoreboard. Or rent a small plane to drag a banner. Or one of those annoying singing telegram people.
Ain't bloggin' grand?
(And--what the heck?--Congrats to whomever about whatever.)
Yeah, I kind of like the idea of also sending out congratulations to anyone who happened to get some good news on this day when we got some good news chez Althouse-Cohen. And some of these comments make me think I should send out condolences too, just in case there's a reader who had something bad happen today. Here at Althouse, we care.

Thanks! Same to you.
You're a few hours ahead of schedule. I'm still grading.
It's not about me.
And I haven't even written my exams yet!
I just took a good midday nap while some Linux apps are compiling - thanks.
Hey! What about those of us who haven't had one damn thing good happen in quite awhile! What do we get, bupkis?
I just had a 2-litre bottle of Coke explode all over me when I opened it in the car. That's what we get, Ron. We get wet.

I joyfully second Ann's congratulations!
Ha! You can't legislate for stupidity :)

Aw shucks, Ann, we all know it's about the Grade AA love at the House of Alt, and it's mightily appreciated!
I gave a great presentation last night. Definitely the best in the class ifIsaysomyself. Yay me!
Thanks. I designed a new front page for my company's intranet site, and my boss really liked it. :)
