Audible Althouse, #23.

Finally, the podcast is back. #23 has: the Thanksgiving squirrel, the Thanksgiving salmon, bedbugs, metaphorical vermin, the dog-eat-dog world of blogs, schoolteachers who get too political, and crazy architectural and lifestyle fantasies brought on by winning the lottery or taking LSD. 44 minutes.

IN THE COMMENTS: I apologize for coughing into the microphone.

YES! I was starting to see pink squirrels crawling on my body from the withdrawl! At last, relief!

I'm really sorry about the cough. I was going to put in a warning. Sorry!! That was SO unprofessional! I like the I'd did it on purpose it's podcasty excuse, Ruth Anne! And wasn't it you who said not to edit out stuff?

Still don't have the new mike.

I haven't heard it yet, but Ms. Adams mention of the three millionth hit made me wonder if he/she was awarded anything?
First, I thought of a T-shirt, "I was Number 3,000,000 on Althouse and all I got was this lousy T-shirt."
That's too expensive, how about a graphic saying "I was number 3,000,000 on Althouse and all I got was this lousy Graphic"
That way, you could change the number on it every million and the winner could post it on their blog site. You could also put in small print, "Althouse single-handedly destroyed Open Source Media without obsession too but doesn't want to talk about it."

Ann, it is odd to end the podcast with corpse-blogging! (er, casting, whatever!)

When the squirrels take over, all y'all will be War Criminals!

Makes you wonder if Brittany's quickie Vegas marriage was one of those drug things!

Whatever home I made with my lotto millions would have the top of the Chrysler Building on it somewhere...complete with gargoyles!

Ron: I'm glad you perceived the subtle thematic unity of ending with a corpse after beginning with the animal corpses.

My favorite slip of the tongue comes in minute 21, where Ann talks of being accused of spreading "malicious truths."

Well, but, our squirrels here ARE superior--at least in terms of their diversity. Do you want me to lie?

After all, I did offer to send you a selection. Talk about ungrateful!

I doubt 'malicious truths' was a slip of the tongue, I interpret the phrase as an amusing frame for Prof. Althouse's reaction to the negative reaction to her criticism of the whole OSM/Pajama mess.

She knows what she says is true, she suspects that her critics agree with her but call her malicious anyway cause they are uncomfortable with that truth, hence the alteration of the expected phrase into 'malicious truth'.

But, I could be off base here.

(and I am proud/ashamed to say that my riff on effluvia blogging on this post (which Ruth Anne Adams already pointed out) lead to Prof. Althouse's coinage of the term 'squism'. Also of interest it seems to mostly have been just Ruth Anne Adams, Victoria, Prof. Althouse and myself who ran with it. Is it significant that besides myself the 'squism' bloggers have been all women?)
