"The Apprentice."
Great episode tonight. I don't know why things like that still surprise me. Feel free to spoil in the comments. I have a new favorite character tonight after having a single favorite character since the first episode.

What, no comment about Rebecca (my favorite of the candidates) being the one to make all the sports analogies tonight? ("Step up to the plate," "drop the ball," etc.)
I'm sure the sponsors appreciated it that at least 3 of the 8 candidates barely knew a thing about the Star Wars prequels....that's just what they were looking for.
I really think the winner will be one of the two team members to survive elimination tonight. Alla could challenge....but I see her pride and need to take credit tripping her up somewhere along the way.
This year's crop looks pretty mediocre. Last year's was terrible, but Kendra was probably the best candidate to date.
Randal looks set to win, but he's not exercising himself much.
Has Alla been dethroned in Chez Althouse? I think Boyfriend Bill's big ole' teeth should get at least an honorable mention in the "favorite character" category. Randall's looking pretty good to me, too. Also, Rebekah is gaining some momentum. She at least knows when to hush in the boardroom and not sound desperate.
Ruth Anne: Yes. Alla had been my favorite all along, but she was ridiculous tonight barging into the presentation twice and constantly bragging about how much she did. It's good that she did things, but her behavior is too self-aggrandizing. My new favorite is Rebecca. She's sharp and solid. I know everyone likes Randall, but I find him dull. His project last week-- putting your best foot forward or whatever -- deserved a lot more criticism than it got (because the other team was so bad).
Quxxo, perhaps you're not familiar with the concept, but there's this thing called "etiquette". The way it works is, this is Ann's blog, and she writes about what she wants to write about. So that there is some organization, she might choose to - say - talk about a silly TV show in one thread, and talk about Supreme Court nominations and the law in another. This makes it easy for the rest of us to be able to read the things we like to read, while skipping the rest.
If you have a discussion topic you'd like to propose to Ann, there's this other thing called "e-mail" that you can use. It's handy - it lets you have a private conversation without the rest of the world listening in. For example, you could suggest that she write about something that you'd like her to write about.
I suppose it is possible that you are acquainted with both of these concepts, and are simply ignoring them because you have something which you feel is so important that it must reach the Internet at once. In that case, there is an admirably simple solution: you can get yourself what is called a "blog", and write about whatever topics you wish, and people who share your interests or who find your writing interesting may join you there.
It's really a very lovely set of concepts.
Yay, more Apprentice blogging. (Though have you abandoned Martha? Sniff.) Keep it up, Ann.
Although anything is possible with Trump, I can’t believe he’d choose a former stripper for his company. Not that there’s anything wrong with being a former stripper. Redemption is available, and possible, for everyone, and Alla has proven herself quite capable in the tasks, if not manipulative. But manipulative works for extracting tips from “clients” and may not be a skill Trump necessarily wants.
And why choose Alla when he can choose Rebecca or Randall? Yes, Randall is boring but so what? So is Bill Rancic and Kelly what’s-his-name. So am I. Boring is good.
Pete: I do back candidates based on whether I think they could do the job within the company, even though I'm not so sure any of them really does end up in much of a job. I withdrew support from Alla for that reason (and not because of her previous job as a stripper or whatever she was).
Robert: What a well done statement of blog reader etiquette -- so good that now I'm not going to delete Quxxo's comment.
Quxxo: Trying to get me to address subjects by this method is trolling, and it makes me less likely to talk about your subject than I would have been otherwise. You've raised something I have been planning to write about, so if I do, don't think it's because of your rude behavior here.
When I saw Q had three long off-topic comments, I deleted them all. Don't waste your time, Quxxo. I'm going to be deleting your off-topic comments very quickly now. You lost the benefit of the doubt today.
I'm rooting for Randall.
I like Rebecca too.
I did like Alla, but time is revealing her faults. What different did it make if the execs knew her input to the installation?? She could have revealed that in the board room and make Clay look like a phony, probably with support from the group.
Rebecca has grown. She learned from the Toral incident and looks pretty good.
I noticed that Trump's little lesson this week was on "Loyalty" and we recall how Rebecca was loyal to Toral up until Toral proved unworthy. I have to believe Trump thought that was good, certainly she was portrayed in a good light this week. Along with her willingness to hobble around on crutches to get the job done, I think she a strong contender. Randal is good enough to win and Alla, although she looked a little pushy, has some skills, I would not rule her out.
I think the multiple firings have been good, both deserved it last night.
While Alla's comments would probably be self-aggrandizing in the "real world," they are hardly such on The Apprentice, the epitimy of self-aggrandizing. After all, each week features a new Trump project, deal or illustration of the Trump empire. Alla is simply catering to her audience (i.e., Donald Trump).
Alla rules. Everybody defers to her on every task because she's always right. She jumped in during the presentation not only because biznatchem was stealing her thunder, but because he failed to point out some good things about the display that the execs should have been made aware of...
Compared to Alla Rebecca's dumb. She has a high emotional IQ, to quote a former apprentice wannabe, but she's not a leader, lacks good ideas, and can't judge people for crap. Randall, meantime, seems way too disinterested. Alla is the kwizarts haderach. Recognize.
