Maybe we need lyrics about W's appointing her to the tune of "Whiskey Train?"

Time to set the nom on fire!!!!

Mr. Mojo Risin' said: 'Try now we can only lose /And our love become a funeral pyre.'

So will she "break on through to the other side" or is this "the end"?

I'm done -- too bad she's not from L.A. and that there was no way to work in Peace Frog.

Ohhh, that was good - - no time to wallow in the Miers. Some lyrics from Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit came to my mind for some reason. That song was about as surreal as is the circus this nomination is turning into.

Ok, the whole thing got stuck in my head, sorry, here's the long play:

Well, her resume's lean, And her resume's late
She'll never cause a scene, She'll not be one we hate
But she's a drag, Just listen to the way she talks
She's a twentieth century putz, She's a twentieth century putz
No peers, just steers, and Senate jeers, on Fox
She's a twentieth century putz, oh yeah
She is W's tool, And she's the lady who waits
At least she went to law school, So why do we -- hesitate
She won't waste time, On constitutional talk
'Cause she's a twentieth century putz, She's a twentieth century putz
Got her world locked up, Inside a White House box
She's a twentieth century putz, oh yeah
Twentieth century putz, oh yeah
Twentieth century putz
She's a twentieth century putz

Sippican: I bought a lot of albums back in the days when The Doors came out, and I liked "Light My Fire" enough that I bought their album. I listened to it once or twice and was disappointed enough to return it to the store and get my money back. I'm not sure how I managed to get my money back from a store for a record album, but it's the only time in my life I ever even attempted to do that. Now, when I'm listening to the 60s channel on the satellite radio and The Doors come on, I listen for the sheer nostaligic cheesiness. "Ride the snake/To the lake" -- it's hilarious! "We want the world and we want it now." I remember a nerdy kid in my high school saying that line once and making everyone laugh.

One thing was great about the Doors: Ray Manzarek. His improvisation in the extended middle of "Light My Fire" was ecstatic to dance to, trying to match the sinuous contortions of the electric organ with one's body. It would still make a great aerobic workout to this day.

Ann: Yes, I certainly agree with you that the Doors are hyper-cheesy, even down to the Morrison death and all...like Spinal Tap wasn't written, but just copied from the Doors. They are, indeed, the Emerson, Lake and Palmer of the '60's! 'Cheesiest Bands per decade,' might be a good post topic!

Ron: "Scalia's box." LOL. He is the box!
