Nina's take on the movie, with photo.

Here I am at the pre-movie dinner:

Althouse at Japanese Restaurant

Nina describes the movie here, linking my post from earlier today, and calls me out on two things that I have to defend myself against in her comments.

A blogger's work is never done!

The picture is so good, Ann, that you should right an appropriate book to match so you can use it on the jacket!

ufda, 'write an appropriate book,' not 'right an appropriate book!'

Mea culpa!

Keep growing out your bangs--you look good.

My initial reaction upon seeing this photo is "hubba hubba" (for that I apologize, I don't know if it is a pleasure or a pain for you to still be objectified by men you don't know)

My secondary reaction is that this portrait reminds me of Pre-Raphaelite paintings, especially Millais, he favored pale skin, vivid backgrounds and very direct gazes from the subjects.

(that should cover both the high and the low for this comment)

Ann, are you seriously telling us you'd rather have that Profile Photo of you, than the one your friend took of you eating Szechuan??

I think most people know why you use the one you do, but come on -- the other one is primordial.

Woman. Eating. 3/4 profile.

Perfection.

Cheers,
Victoria

You look remarkably different from picture to picture.

Really? I don't even have a particular reason in mind.

I might switch the profile picture to this one, but not with the rice in the picture.

It's Japanese foor, by the way.

Leroy is right, that is an extremely "painterly" photo, it looks like a carefully composed portrait.

The new picture was taken by Nina on the same Sony that I use when I'm not using my Nikon. It looks formal because I deliberately froze in position while she got ready to take it. Also, it was quite dark, so a ton of computer manipulation was needed to get it to this point.

A friend of mine (who now reads the blog daily) had a theory.

What that theory was, I wasn't about to say publicly -- it's nothing machiavellic, no fear --, but I'm just happy he was wrong.

I might switch the profile picture to this one, but not with the rice in the picture.

Very nice.

Doh. And me with my love of sushi. :(

Victoria
