"Mughal emperor Shahjahan's unfulfilled last wish of building a black Taj Mahal facing the white one at Agra has come true."

In black sand. (No photo yet!)

It's only 5 meters tall and probably not to scale, plus Shah Jahan wanted his body buried in it, and I doubt they've disinterred from the Taj and sanded him in. Just as well, as it's more touching that he only built the one for his wife and even the modern Indian economy might have trouble bankrolling the thing originally envisioned.

First of all, a black Taj Mahal sounds evil.

I've seen the original one, and that has a grandeur and majesty all its own, in no small part due its shimmering wedding-cakeness.

Also, years later (because I was 10 or 11 when my parents took me on a conference to India), when I went alone to Turkey, I entered the Hagia Sophia, and almost fainted.

I have Stockholm Syndrome at the best of times (I stood stock still before Michelangelo's David, terrified and agape), but the interior of the Hagia Sophia was awash in gold, and oppressive black.

Exceptionally frightening.

Anyway, I always kick in sand castles when I see them on the beach.

Beaches are for fun and sun, not culture.

Cheers,
Victoria

How kind of you to share your superior wisdom, and to use vandalism to help us to live in accordance with your ideas of what is good and fun. And how typical that such a sick and petty person would sign their note "cheers".

Amazing that in all the articles I've read about the Taj Mahal, not one ever mentioned this. Fascinating.

Ahh. I think I know who put in that request to have the Crusader mascot banned.

Cheers,
