"What dreary sentimental nonsense this all is, and how much space has been wasted on it."

An exclamation without an exclamation point shows how sick Christopher Hitchens is of Cindy Sheehan.

I tolerated her "protest" until she swerved into the Israel angle. I now consider her a total wack-job. A wack-job that is being "played" and abused by the Liberal media. Just when you think they can't get any lower, they bring out longer shovels.
Oh, and this is the crowning jewel.

The Neo-cons were right about the Iraq war and are still right.

Bush has defended the country well since September 11. We lost 3000 civilians on that day. The most ever in one day and perhaps the most civilians ever lost to a foreign power.

Where is the next attack? They keep saying its coming. They were saying it was "certain" in the days after September 11. I am still waiting. For now, I am enjoying complaining about higher gas prices and going to the movies.

Bush's strategy in the WOT is working. Iraq is part of his strategy. It is a long term strategy that has made all of us and a lot of others around the world safer. The Iraq war has given millions of iraqi's hope for the future. Prior to the war there was no hope for Iraqis, just death. Our soldiers fight for something that no other nation's soldiers in history has fought for (except Britain)...that is freedom of the local people. Perhaps this is why the world mistrusts America - it doesn't make sense that a country would send its young people to die for someone else's freedom (that only makes sense here).

There are others out there...others under tyrannys boot who hope for they day when American Soldiers free them from misery...they pray against the enemies of freedom, those like Mrs. Sheehan.

- is David Duke now an ally of hers or just sympathetic to her many layered agenda? She is about to have a nervous breakdown....

About to have a nervous breakdown? I hate to see what spectacular display that would involve.

Clearly, Ms. Sheehan "jumped the shark" with the anti-Israel - "I am not paying taxes" comments. However, when she made those statements, they just seemed so force, like there was someone else actually saying them - not the mother of a dead U.S. soldier.

I think the "left" has played a much bigger role in propping Ms. Sheehan up than even Ms. Sheehan has.

I didn't say they hated America because it is selfless, I said they don't believe in America's intentions because their own histories have no applicable comparison. Did you ever hear of the German army liberating anyone? How about the Italian army? Or the Spanish army? or the Russian army or any Muslim army. If these are your points of relativity, why would you trust the American army.

And yes, based on the previous track record and despite our flaws, I believe that our culture is superior to other cultures. Prove to me that it is not.

I also don't like how Ms. Sheehan is being used. The Anchoress linked a great blog post about the situation from Varifrank on the 11th (maybe everyone has already seen it):

I also don't like the way her son's death is being used. Unless he's written something somewhere about how awful and unfair he thought the war was and how he hoped others would speak out about it, I don't think he should be part of the equation. If I died, I wouldn't want my mother, with whom I am very close, using my death to promote her politics.

Well, for one Sloan, American culture produced you. So, it can't be all it's cracked up to be. Maybe it's your obnoxious "We're better than you" attitude that turns people off..

Sloanasaurus म्हणाले...

Yeah, I know. It is really arrogent for me to wish that others would have the same freedoms that you and I have.

Oh well. At least we can feel good that Elian Gonzalez will have free "health care."
