And not because of Pam.
Because of Courtney:
With Ms. Love thrashing around, it can be hard to remember that it is Ms. Anderson's night. Smoking cigarettes, Ms. Love heckled the comedians and flipped people off, regularly flashing her underwear and pulling up her top. When not lurching toward center stage in raw bids for attention, she slumped so far down in a white sofa that some of the male comedians - particularly the M.C., Jimmy Kimmel - appeared to prop her up. Toward the end of the roast, she reclined entirely.
"How is it possible that Courtney Love looks worse than Kurt Cobain?" the comic Jeffrey Ross asked. Is that line even legal?
But when people joked about Ms. Love's history of substance abuse, she would respond slurrily, "I've been sober for a year!"
"If you're not on drugs," Mr. Kimmel shot back at one point, "you've got problems."
In other Courtney news. She
didn't commit suicide. She
failed a drug test. And
she's got a new boyfriend, to whom she wrote:
“It’s so weird and wrong and good and sweet and evil being with you…You are beautiful my little baby and by the way, I love you too.”
We love you too, Courtney! Good luck!

I don't love Courtney. I feel very sorry for her, but that's the extent of any positive feelings I have. There is nothing good or funny about her drug abuse, especially around her daughter. The woman needs help.
Joan: I don't see the inconsistency between loving someone and believing they need help. I don't think there's anything good or funny about drug abuse either. Some great people have had substance abuse problems that they never overcame. We can still love them.
Did anyone notice Drudge's hysteria quotient flaring yesterday, with his little siren-icon attached to a news headline that essentially said, "Courtney Love DID NOT commit suicide today." Ok, thanks for that news.
Elizabeth: Concerning Drudge's clarion on COurtney NOT committing suicide....
Any day she doesn't do it is a banner day -- if anyone truly cared (which is sad). Sadly -- she's on the slow-drip suicide plan.
I guess this is another reason I am glad that I don't have a TV here.
As for Druge, I gave him up when I found that his site was setup to fire off pop-up adds every couple of minutes - pretty much whenever it would refresh. Sorry Matt, but not worth putting up with the hassle of killing those ads.
Drudge is a vulture in this case. It's like he has a police scanner on, waiting for a suicide report to come through. It harkens back to the "Hollywood Confidential" days. Love is a trainwreck, and I can't imagine what it must be like to be the child of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain. I hope this kid grows up hard as nails, and rationally distanced from any romanticizing of either of her parents.
Courtney has officially turned into Anna Nicole Smith:

It was a strange roast... I watches quite a bit of it. It seemed to me that the roasters concentrated almost more on the other people there rather than Pamela. Courtney was of course a major center of attention, as she is everywhere she goes... she makes sure that happens.
I wonder if that's why they invited her? Did they think that Pam was so difficult to roast that they needed someone else to draw comic attention? Is it really that hard to roast Pamela Anderson?
I thought the whole thing was sordid and pathetic -- and irresistible to watch. Such a disgusting display of juvenile vulgarity -- how many (lousy) p***y, c**k and boob (I can say that, right?) jokes can be crammed into an hour? Even Bea Arthur couldn't resist the tide of filth, although at least she took a bit more nuanced approach.
The old Friar's Club stuff could be pretty ribald, for sure, but 85% of what these so-called comics spewed was just smelly tripe.
I hope PETA spends its money wisely, because I don't see this one being an annual affair.
