One way of reading.
Yesterday, I bought five books -- a diverse array. I've been reading them in a sequence, four to twenty pages in one book and then in the next, from Book 1 to Book 5, then starting with Book 1 again. I just noticed I'm following the reading method I use for my pile of exams. I didn't really mean to replicate the exam-reading experience.

I love this way of reading, especially when you get several books on the same topic. It creates a kind of "3D" effect in my mind for the topic to hear several different (and sometimes conflicting) voices speaking about the same thing.
Bully for you, Ann! Hope you enjoy the trip!
Ann, surely you know that you can't tell us you're reading five books but not tell us which books they are.
Inquiring minds want to know!
Charlie: I'd thought you'd guess. Like the what's-in-the-vial from the other day. I'll give a hint: all were on the front tables at Borders and all are hardcover (and so, recent). Two are biography. Both of these are more (in one case) or less (in one case) law-oriented. Two are autobiograpy (and graphic, in the comics sense). One is other nonfiction (and very much a best seller). Okay, now you've got an excellent shot at guessing all five.
Mark: I'm aghast that you'd think I'd read two of those. You got one right. Two are reasonable choices, except that you missed the "graphic/comics" factor that applied tot he two autobiographies.
This is like playing that game Mastermind.
Mark, reading and watching TV are very different. At least for me. A graphic book would involve drawing -- cartooning, comics. Think of "Maus" as an example.
Off topic, but nominating Ms. Althouse for the cotillian

Kathleen: Very good! You got three right!
The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana?
Mark: You got 2.
Anne: Interesting! I hadn't even noticed that book, but I'll look for it now. Thanks! Anyway, the two graphic books are both autobiographical and nonfiction.
Well thought out, Kathleen, but you are still at three!
MarK: You have three.
