The cardiac arrest was caused by an apparent drug overdose, according to a person with knowledge of the situation... The person with knowledge of the situation said that Ms. Panettiere was with Brian Hickerson, a former boyfriend, at the time of her death....
According to Ms. Panettiere’s memoir, 'This Is Me: A Reckoning,' which she published this year, she met Mr. Hickerson in 2018 in Los Angeles. The two dated on and off for several years. Court records show that in 2021, Mr. Hickerson pleaded no contest to two felony counts of injuring Ms. Panettiere."

"Margaret Thatcher’s government spent £100,000 on a top-secret plan to 'bomb' Peru with voraciously hungry moths in a radical attempt to destroy cocaine crops."
The method is relatively cheap and simple. From what is known of Eloria [noyesi] it might be thought of as a ‘smart bomb’ with a very short range."...
"The moth is indigenous to Peru and is highly host-specific to the coca bush. There is no evidence of it feeding on other plants … Its use as a control agent could, therefore, be concealed."
At the end of the 2nd century, the Roman emperor Septimius Severus was on his way to wresting control of Mesopotamia from the local monarchs.... As the Roman legions advanced on the desert stronghold of Hatra.... The defenders crafted earthenware bombshells loaded with scorpions.... As Severus’s men reached the walls of Hatra, scorpion bombs rained down....
More recently:
During the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong dug a network of underground tunnels allowing them to decide when and where to fight.... Feeling his way through a dank passage, [an American] “tunnel rat” might overlook a trip wire and have a load of scorpions rain down from a hidden cavity in the roof. The Viet Cong also conscripted the Asian giant honeybee.... Soldiers gingerly relocated colonies to trails used by the Americans and then attached a small, explosive charge.... For their part, the U.S. military funded a research program to devise an apparatus to spray the Vietnamese enemy with the alarm pheromone of bees, thereby converting the local insects into fierce allies.... But the “weapon” was never deployed....
AND: Wikipedia has an article, "Entomological warfare."
Entomological warfare (EW) is a type of biological warfare that uses insects to interrupt supply lines by damaging crops, or to directly harm enemy combatants and civilian populations. There have been several programs which have attempted to institute this methodology; however, there has been limited application of entomological warfare against military or civilian targets, Japan being the only state known to have verifiably implemented the method against another state, namely the Chinese during World War II. However, EW was used more widely in antiquity, in order to repel sieges or cause economic harm to states. Research into EW was conducted during both World War II and the Cold War by numerous states such as the Soviet Union, United States, Germany and Canada. There have also been suggestions that it could be implemented by non-state actors in a form of bioterrorism. Under the Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention of 1972, use of insects to administer agents or toxins for hostile purposes is deemed to be against international law.

"I want to acknowledge that the conversation that RFK is trying to have and that we’re having here is not theoretical for me, anyway. And here I’m going to shake my Lexapro."
I’ve been on Lexapro, an anti-anxiety medication, for at least a decade. It was prescribed by a psychiatrist, but then just became part of my relationship with my general practitioner. I just get it renewed. And I’ve not really been asked to think about how long I should be on it. And now suddenly having this conversation with you is making me ask that question. How long am I supposed to be on it? What would happen if I stopped taking it? Would all the white noise of anxiety that made me want to go on Lexapro, would that return? Or 10 years later, have I outgrown that and I just don’t it because I’ve never tried to taper myself off this to find out who I would be if I weren’t me on Lexapro?...
The guest on the episode, Ellen Barry, asks Barbaro, "what did you conclude about stopping?"
Michael Barbaro: "Me? I don’t that I’ve ever gotten far enough along in the conversation with myself to stop.... It was just an accepted fact in my conversation with the doctor that I was on it, and then I’d probably still be on it for as long as I’m going to be on it.... But now I’m asking myself the question of, are we all infantilizing ourselves in the face of medicine? Should I be asking this question myself? Why should I be waiting for a doctor to ask it? It’s getting a little existential now."
If Michael Barbaro, a man whose whole career is about being thoughtful about miscellaneous things, is only thinking of these questions as he's in the middle of doing his podcast on the subject, what hope is there for the millions of Americans who take these medications as a matter of endless routine?

"To this day, I still don’t know what happened. Why wasn’t he making any sense? It was inexplicable to me," she says elsewhere in the book. Maybe he had rehearsed too much? Maybe he had traveled too much that month? Or was he just ill? The president had seemed exhausted earlier in the day and had told her that he was not feeling too well. Later, after positing that he may have unwittingly taken codeine cough syrup or Ambien to fight off a cold or to help him sleep, Jill Biden seems to rhetorically throw her hands in the air: "I only wish I had the answer."

"GLP-1 drugs may be rewiring circuits involved not only in appetite but in emotion, desire and beyond."
Tens of millions of people are now taking the medications worldwide, turning what began as an obesity and diabetes treatment into what could be modern medicine’s largest unplanned neuroscience experiments. Scientists are studying GLP-1 drugs — medications that mimic the hormones involved in appetite, blood sugar and digestion — for how they affect not only eating behavior, but also addiction, cognition, neurodegeneration and even motivation and pleasure....
On social media and at doctor’s offices, some users have reported a type of brain fog and others something broader and harder to define: a strange emotional flattening. People describe less pleasure, less motivation, diminished interest in hobbies and even reduced sexual desire. Those accounts are beginning to raise deeper questions about what, exactly, these drugs are changing. If GLP-1s alter the brain systems involved in reward, craving and motivation, researchers wonder, where is the line between quieting a person’s destructive impulses and reshaping personality itself?...
