From "Midterm Elections Live Updates: Democratic Senate Primary Loser Endorses Republican in Michigan/The rift between Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for Senate, and Representative Haley Stevens widened to a gulf two days before the midterms. The president was set to campaign in Iowa and Kansas" (NYT).

@HaleyforMI Congrats, Fetterwoman, on nuking your political career and being the saddest sore loser in Michigan political history. I hope whatever you’re getting in return for doing this is worth it.

Fetterwoman is perfect, a fine compliment. James “Jim” Clyburn of SC set up the event at a Detroit church to reconcile Stevens and Al-Sayid but it was a spectacular backfire.
“I hope whatever you’re getting in return for doing this is worth it.”
…the chance to keep a first world nation instead of building a third world shit hole seems like a good trade…
…granted I suspect she did it for some combination of inside baseball and personal success but still a good trade for the rest of us…
All King Abdul had to do was denounce the ad on Saturday, get Haley’s endorsement, win the election on Tuesday, take it back on Wednesday …. “You know Hasan the Pike is not so bad”.
Chidi sounds like a sore loser. Sad.
Does “Chidi” think there was room for a woman in a campaign run by Muslim misogynists for a Muslim misogynist?
Did a memo got out to all women instructing them that if they want to make a video, go sit in your car?
I'll give her credit for being principled and willing to risk her standing with Democrats, though she probably felt a bit safer given that other Michigan Dems preceded her in either endorsing Rogers or at least saying they wouldn't vote for El-Sayed. Her district has a substantial Jewish population (probably >10% of voters), so it won't hurt her there.
Lifelong Democrat on X...
Reporter: “What has attracted you to the Mike Rogers campaign?”
Detroit voter: “Well, he’s an American.”

Whatever. I suppose its because of her love of Israel. And her desire for that sweet big donor cash. If she truly believed in "progressive politics" she'd be supporting the D. Even if she disagreed with him on foreign policy.
Amazing how so many R's and D's dont really believe what they say on the campaign trail. Like Mitt Romney or George Bush or Chris Christie, they'll support a D with views on foreign policy they like, over a R - like Trump - that isn't a globalist.
As Mike Pence said, what happens to the average american doesn't concern him. Its peanuts compared to Ukraine and the middle east.
Her fiancรฉe was smacking the doc around about bananas, and that’s what broke her. Men warning women about men is an ancient tradition.
"Did a memo got out to all women instructing them that if they want to make a video, go sit in your car?"
It's a good way to exclude interruptions and photo-bombing if you're an ordinary social media person.
If you're a politician, it's a good way to try to look like an ordinary person.
Even better, in this case, is her use of lighting and a super-clean no-makeup look. This is young and trendy and I strongly approve. It's so much better than the heavy makeup sometimes known as the "Mar a Lago" look.
Haley Stevens does not always look like this, and it may be digitally altered and not reproducible in public appearances, but for this video, it's great.
Latest polls have El Kabong up by 5. I suppose its because D's will vote D no matter what, and many of Michagan's arab community have switched from voting for Trump to El Kabong.
Why the Dutch angle for the video. Is she signaling alarm?
Why was her voice speeded up to make her sound like a chipmunk?
His nickname should be Not a Doc.
Don’t let Not a Doc perform an abortion on you, Michigan.
He's a Doctor just like Jill Biden!
Chances are excellent that Haley Stevens will be "the saddest sore loser in Michigan political history" for two days and few hours, and will then lose that honor to "Dr." Abdul el-Sayed. I also expect his sore loserdom to be epic, and at least tinged with violence.
"Latest polls have El Kabong up by 5."
If I recall correctly, polls had him up by double digits before the primary, and he ended up winning by 1%.
"It's a good way to exclude interruptions and photo-bombing if you're an ordinary social media person."
If you don't have a house and live under a bridge with the other homeless, I guess.
"This is young and trendy and I strongly approve."
That's fine. To me though, it looks more like "What are all the cool kids doing these days? I want to do that, too".
I endorse this Tweet from Enguerrand VII de Coucy, already endorsed by Jim Treacher (link):
"If Abdul El Sayed loses to Mike Rogers in Michigan I think that most serious election watchers and analysts will be forced to agree that it happened because Democrats didn’t crash out about Haley Stevens hard enough."
What she gets out of it is washing off the stink of the vile, anti-semitic socialist shitbags.
This is my pick for "the polls are wrong". Rogers got 49.5% of the vote two years ago. Abdul is unpopular with blacks, normie dems, republicans, jews, rural voters (of both parties) and his primary opponent is endorsing his rival. The only way he wins is a turnout debacle for the GOP.
“Chances are excellent that Haley Stevens will be "the saddest sore loser in Michigan political history" for two days and few hours, and will then lose that honor to "Dr." Abdul el-Sayed. I also expect his sore loserdom to be epic, and at least tinged with violence.”
Nope. Hillary has both beat by a mile.
Midterms are usually decided by turnout. For some reason, X percent of people who vote for the President find it too much bother to show up for the mid-terms. I guess voting every 2 years is too hard for them.
RCP latest poll (Yougov) shows El Kabong up by 3.5 - which is within the margin of error. Rodgers has one thing going for him, I don't think the D establishment is going to mysteriously "find" thousands of ballots after election day to elect El Kabong. Nor will 107 percent of the registered Detroit voters put in a ballot.
Rogers has only moved up to 29% chance to win on Kalshi. Huge arb opportunity.
Weren't you critical of the fact that "gambling is everywhere" on another thread?

I like to point out that there is almost no information contained in Kalshi or Polymarket odds, especially for political races. It is just what a relatively few people who want to put money up think about the race. Polls may be wrong, biased or whatever, but there is some information there.
El-Sayed(D) is a scumbag. A Muslim Brotherhood supporting scumbag.
oh and a poor victim of the evil white man.
Interesting.
I wonder if someone told her what the internal poll numbers are? Time to jump ship?
There’s a lot of tension in that Big Tent!
Michigan and Alaska voters who voted early a week ago, and Michigan and Alaska voters who will vote this tuesday, are voting in very different elections.
Chidi - You sound like a leftist mobster. The only way to be.
Whatever the politics are, that was well said. I hope it helps. El-Sayed deserves to lose this one.
Democrats sure aren't acting like there is a blue wave coming.
Think she saw the actual internal polls politicians pay money for?
Why was Sayed complaining about his mom not loving him?
For whatever reason, parts of the Democratic Party is trying to isolate American Jews. Think about Israel what you will but American Jews don’t deserve that kind of treatment and the Democrat rank and file need to put a stop to it.
Chuck hardest hit. And with any luck, it's upside the head.
Black Lives Matter?
Muslims are slaughtering black Christians across Africa, but Clyburn says nothing about that.
I believe the correct construction is: Black Lives Matters ... unless those deaths do not increase the political power of the Democrat party. In that case, screw those black folx.
…yes the markets are thinly traded and therefore price/probability moves can be quite large on small volume. The prices for political props do tend to mimic polls so there is some i formation in them…finally an example of arbitrage would be something like pocketing the price difference between the same bet on Kalshi vs Polymarket so I think Dave is actually trying to describe Rogers as a value proposition…
Unlike Chuck Schumer she doesn't betray Jews.

Can anybody refute anything that the ad says?
Democrats say that it "blames the Jewish state" for the price of bananas, it does not. The reason they refer to Israel as "the Jewish state" is to try to make any criticism of Israel "antisemitic" which is complete nonsense.
There is a lot of noise coming out of Israel that Netanyahu's opponent, who got more votes than he did, is going into coalition with the Arab parties to topple Bibi. One piece of supporting evidence is that Netanyahu did a post where he accused the Arab parties of using "illegal software" to get out the vote. If Netanyahu is whining about the Arab vote, there is likely a reason.
If it's true, my guess is that the coalition with the Arab parties lasts just long enough to get Netanyahu charged with corruption, of which there is tons of evidence, Trump has been begging the Israeli president to pardon him, and then hold another election where Netanyahu is not running.
As Dan Bongino likes to say: "The Republicans may not be the solution to your problems, but the cause of your problems is most definitely the Democrats."
I'd say it's gone much further than than that now. The Republicans might not be your friends, but the Democrats are definitely your enemies.

I believe progressive Dems are much more likely to bet on Kalshi than Rs.
arnacleBay imTay's statement (3:28pm) "Netanyahu's opponent, who got more votes than he did" is utterly and obviously false, whether you count by party, or by multi-party bloc. Wikipedia's "2026 Israeli legislative election" gives all the details.
By party, Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud got 20.52% of the vote and 27 seats, Gadi Eisenkot's Yashar 16.05% and 21 seats.
By bloc (scroll way down to "By bloc"), if we add in their coalition partners, Netanyahu's 5-party coalition got 42.08% of the vote and 53 seats, Eisenkot's 4-party coalition 37.74% and 48 seats.
Why does arnacleBay imTay feel entitled to tell us bald-faced lies?
James K. makes a good point that Stevens may be acting on principle rather than personal resentment. Still, there's a big difference between declining to endorse El-Sayed and actively backing Rogers. Stevens has long championed abortion rights, while Rogers has a record of supporting restrictions. And electing Rogers could help preserve a Republican Senate majority supportive of Trump's agenda, which Stevens has consistently opposed.
I appreciate that Stevens takes seriously the concerns of Jewish voters in her district, including objections to El-Sayed's positions on Israel. But El-Sayed has explicitly disavowed the controversial PAC ad. This is something Stevens herself welcomed on Saturday. I'd be interested in hearing her explain why their remaining disagreements outweigh the considerable policy ground they share.
After such a tight and expensive primary, El-Sayed might have done more to reconcile with Stevens and her supporters. Both sides bear some responsibility for this remarkable breakdown in party unity.
"Both sides bear some responsibility for this remarkable breakdown in party unity."
Standard Democrat bullshit. "Both sides bear some responsibility ..." True enough, as far as it goes, but one side bears vastly more responsibility than the other, and that side is the side trying to elect a misogynistic, antisemitic, Muslim. If one were as even-handed as one tries to pretend to be, one might think to acknowledge that.
"Why does arnacleBay imTay feel entitled to tell us bald-faced lies?"
Don't know. I don't read them anymore.
Democrats: "Trying to elect a misogynistic, antisemitic, Muslim."
Republicans: "Trying to elect a white man."
"Both sides", amirite?
Takes a principled stand on a hot-button topic, is told to 'stay away' by the candidate on the opposite side of the topic, but she's the one with the problem.
See ya next Tuesday.
The NYT headline was terrific: “Democratic Senate Primary Loser Endorses Republican.”
I happen to agree with a Democrat who said that Mike Rogers would be a rubber stamp for Trump’s dangerous agenda, that “MAGA Mike is wrong for Michigan,” and that Rogers has “no clue what working Michiganders go through.”
That Democrat was Haley Stevens.
During the primary, El-Sayed argued that a vote for Stevens was effectively a vote for Rogers because both were beholden to the same money.
She’s just made his argument for him. 100% correct.
So what, kakabot. Whatever she said while campaigning for the Democrat nomination is perfectly consistent with her believing that El-Sayed is even worse than Rogers. And of course, when El-Sayed said "the same money" he was of course talking about "Jewish money."
Trump says Stevens is welcome in the Republican party. Like hell she is. She's a liberal democrat no different than Chuck Schumer.
If some one like El Kabong got the nomination in New York (yes, I know - but its a thought experiment) what would Schumer do? I tell you what he'd do, he'd refused to support them, or endorse the Republican!
We don't need liberal/left amnesty and abortion supporters in the Republican party. IRC, she voted to impeach Trump - twice. And would've been doing cartwheels if Trump had been put in jail under Biden.
BTW, don't all the people who hate El-kabong know he got on his hands and knees after the primary win and blubbered how he loved Israel and the Jewish Community? Guess his undying support and hatred of "antisemitism" counts for nothing. You're either 100 percent on board with Netenyahu or you're out.
What a contrast to the Conservatives. Hate their fucking guts, betray them, and its ok, as long as you throw them a bone once in a while, and tell them "I support smaller government".
After their initial shock, that any Progressive could dare to deviate from the Party's strict instructions, they are now coming out full force with the 'Betrayal !' shtick. As a warning to the others.
Including the Jewish Progressives, like Schumer. I didn't think she was a strong candidate, and even so, she lost by a margin. But the Progressives aren't alone. We have departing Senators that have come out endorsing the Progressive candidates against their replacements - but nobody cares what they think anymore, so there's just silence in response.

Apparently, Stevens had a progressive streak just a few months ago. Now she’s endorsing Rogers. Maybe it’s not her politics that have evolved so much as her principles that have become negotiable with age.
Or maybe - just maybe - your terrorist buddy is even too much for some Democrats to swallow.

I'm not sure why imTay decided to bring up the Israeli elections, particularly as he apparently has not bothered to learn how they work. In the US we vote for a person to be our President, and it is not unusual for a voter to here to vote for a President from one party, but they like their Congress critter so they vote for a Representative from another party.
As it was explained to me, and here I have to say that I not Jewish, much less Israeli, and the person who explained it is deceased so I cannot call him to confirm, but the voters vote for a party, not an individual. We have a two party system, and it's tough for a third party to make much impact (though Ralph Nader's quixotic run in 2000 probably cost Al Gore the election, hence my weaselword "tough" instead of "impossible to").
Netanyahu's party, Likud, earned the most votes, 27, but not enough -- they need 61 to form a government. There are four small parties who agreed to participate in a coalition government, but they only won 26 seats between themselves, leaving the Likud coalition with 53 seats -- 8 short. Their best bet is to pry a small party that has at least 8 seats loose from the coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot and his Yashar party. In the past one of those small parties -- Yisrael Beytenu -- was part of a Likud-led coalition, but they only bring 7 seats with them, which is not enough. Probably Netanyahu would have to agree to step down as leader of Likud to make that happen.
As I wrote in the previous paragraph, the second bloc is a coalition led by Gadi Eisenkot and the Yashar party, and along with their three coalition partners have 48 seats in the Knesset. They need 13 more and they could get 19 by adding the two Arab parties to their coalition. Given that neither Arab party is ready to blame Hamas (or so I have been told), whether Yashar could withstand the backlash from ordinary Israelis is a good question. Eisenkot could try to pry two of the small parties out of the Likud coalition, as long as at least one of them has 7 seats, but as I understand it (and I'm not Jewish, much less Israeli), Likud's coalition partners are even further right than Likud and Netanyahu are, so that may be problematical as well.
If no one can form a working government, I believe that the President, Isaac Herzog, whose powers are otherwise extremely limited, would have to call another election.
I have to agree with Mason G at 4:37. There are quite a few commenters here that I just scroll past.

Carville is respectful and protective of the subject woman in the same way that the Feminist movement was respectful and protective of the subject woman when Bill Clinton was denying certain things.
Nobody that is paying attention thinks the Progressives have changed. It's all 'for the cause', all of the time.
Poking at the comments
Looking at the comments upthread, am I the only commentator here who realizes how damned misogynistic Muslims are? I don’t see how any woman can vote for any Muslim ever.
But then I could never understand why no American feminist ever lifted so much as a pinky finger to help her sisters in Afghanistan during the 20 years the US was in there.
@Meade, please delete my comment at 9:14, I hit Publish accidentally while trying to fix an autocorrect, andi’m on Safari so I cannot delete it myself.

No.

For women for whom Trump is an enemy, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I know it's stupid, but...
This is your brain. This is your brain on savvy political analysis. Any questions?

Another stupid comment from IEE. Yes, I think El Sayed is very likely to lose two days from now, and if and when he does his reaction will not be pretty, and the reaction of some of his supporters will be violent. He has a very short fuse, and hangs around with violent people. What is IEE's problem - besides arrogance, stupidity, and willingness to say anything for money?
Democrats want to win the upcoming election. But have they really thought this through? dr weevil weighs in...
So "Democrats want to win the upcoming election"? What the Hell does that have to do with whether they will win? Again, please raise the quality of your comments, or lower the quantity, preferably to zero.
“ Democrats want to win the upcoming election. But have they really thought this through? dr weevil weighs in...”
I really don’t think so. If their drive to win were that great, they would have nominated higher quality candidates. Esp in critical swing states.
@Dr. Weevil, just laugh at the asshole. It’s both therapeutic and fun.
@Dr. Weevil, just laugh at the asshole. It’s both therapeutic and fun.
Her love of AIPAC is greater than her love for her party. Israel first sore loser.
Haley Stevens can still become a Senator. If she runs as a Republican.
Let's be clear here:
Stevens agreed to show up and support El-Sayad, in exchange for him opposed Muslim terrorists murdering Jews.
El-Sayad refused to do that, because he loves it when Muslim terrorists murder Jews, or any other Americans
So she switched her support to Rogers.
Because opposing Muslim terrorists murdering Jews and other Americans is what ALL good Americans do, regardless of their political party.
Which is why the lefty scum bags here can't wrap their minds around her choice. After all, murdering Jews is just what people do, in their sick and twisted minds
So she did the same thing as Liz Chaney. Country over party. Democrats responded differently. Weird, huh?
