"As soon as the rotors went quiet, he crawled to it.... 'I just held on,' he said, 'and off we went.'... SkyFall says it designed both the drone and its capsule specifically to evacuate the wounded. It built the capsule around a certified medical stretcher, and the drone can carry up to 330 pounds at speeds of up to 65 mph.... 'Twenty minutes and that’s it,' his commander told him. Asked whether he was up for it, [he] did not hesitate. 'Of course I agree... How could I not?... It could be shot down. It could crash.... But it’s a chance. Either you rot in that bunker, or you have a chance to get out.'"
From "In Ukraine, drones are death. Now they are rescuers, too. The new technology is making previously impossible evacuations possible, but they aren’t without risk" (WaPo)(gift link).

Wow. That really is cool. It's great when there's a new tool in the toolkit. We'll have to see how it actually works out in larger scale and over time.
Seems like an overly melodramatic article about a lifesaving advance in technology. "black drone;" "coffin-shaped." MRI's are coffin-shaped. Because that's what people are shaped like.
There is no real reason to have soldiers in combat any longer.
Prepare for a different type of war.
I've already seen pictures of this rig. Sounds useful in specific situations. Of course, the limitation is range. Electric flight is limited by the energy density of the batteries powering it.
Cool, reminds me of the development of helicopter technology back in the 40s, 50s and 60s. My Dad was a USMC helicopter pilot back then. He could fly anything, qualified on 28 different airframes, single engine, multi-engine, rotary, biplanes, fighters, bombers, transports and numerous choppers. Different times.
So they're mini-evac helicopters. Hopefully, this technology will be used here in the USA. No doubt injured people who need a quick evac but cant be reached by helicopter can be saved.
I guess. we are not going to hear about the recently discovered torture centers in Kiev for men who refused to serve after being kidnapped off the streets, err, I mean "mobilized," or who deserted.

All of these wars have to stop, and the main reason they won't is because the US is completely untrustworthy. Trump made a peace deal with Iran and the same day he signed it, he committed and act of war by imposing a blockade, then he basically tore the whole thing up.
We have done the same thing to Russia going back to the Cuban Missile Crisis, when we agreed to remove our missiles from Turkey, and as soon as Russia removed the missiles from Cuba, we sent them back.
So Ukraine, which is claiming to be killing ten Russians for every Ukrainian who is killed, is demanding a cease fire on the current lines, at which time NATO troops will flood into Ukraine and Ukraine's military will be rebuilt, and lo and behold, a false flag or something will reignite the conflict and it will be NATO vs Russia.
We are paying the price for all of the lying, which seemed expedient at the time, in both wars.
The Ukraine war has become drone warfare. Ukrainians are even using small operator controlled vehicles packed with explosives to blast through the Russian lines. And the same types are used by both sides to bring up supplies when the drones are too numerous.
We're getting into SF robot warfare territory.
These wars be very entertaining. Looking forward to A&E's reality series, "Drone Wars."
@Imtay, it amuses me that our dueling political parties and factions within the NIC are essentially fighting over which new-ish war to fund and support. One harangues Israel and Trump's new Iran conflict while pledging to double down in Ukraine. The other saw Zelensky and our European 'partners' for the corruptocrats they are, but still chose to look before leaping right back into that god awful desert filled with them.
But not having some species of smoldering conflict going simply isn't allowable. Perish the thought. And China just sits back and watches...

Actually China is going through a massive economic correction and had to have a massive military purge to keep Xi in power.
If you read the tea leaves you will notice that China and more specifically Xi has accepted Trump’s offer of regional support and has allied with the United States for a world with more national autonomy and presenting a unified front against the WEF.
Diesel was 20$ a gallon in Hong Kong recently.
It is stupid expensive in Europe.
People don’t seem to want to understand what Trump actually accomplished in Iran. We used to subsidize energy in the rest of the world so globalists could make cheap stuff in SE Asia.
That is over now. That is why so much capital is flooding into the country right now.
Amazing! imTay has finally learned how to spell 'Kyiv' (9:21am). If he'd been following Ukraine news on Twitter, he would know that the "nurse" who drove the ambulance to the "torture center" was in fact a well-known pro-Russian propagandist TikToker with no medical training whatsoever, that the ambulance belonged to a company that went bankrupt in 2023, that the "torture center" was a small and secret military barracks building because the non-secret ones are bombed by the Russians, and large ones are a lot harder to keep secret: all barracks in Ukraine are small and secret. There is much more that stinks of Russian propaganda about the whole story, and I hope we will find out the whole story eventually. I'm particularly interested in whether the "tortured 14-year-old wrapped in a blanket" was actually 14, had ever been inside, had ever been mistreated in any way, and whether he'd been paid by the TikToker.
In other news from Ukraine (link), Russia hit a former school being used as a food distribution center on Monday with a one-ton bomb, then hit the adjacent bomb shelter with nine more smaller bombs. They've found 53 bodies so far, and 40+ more are still missing and presumed dead. Yes, they did the usual "double-tap" to kill half a dozen rescue workers, but in this case it was a decuple-tap. And all that's just fine with imTay.
