Brand was a gifted orator, a narcissist and a conman. And, now, a rapist.
20 years after a sexual encounter, female decides it was "rape." The only evidence presented was her testimony that she was raped. Male says it wasn't. If she had called the cops hours or days later, her position would have been more credible. 20 years later, not at all. I hope he wins on appeal.

btw - I have no way of knowing if this guy actually raped anyone. WE all noted the point in time when he shifted rightward and spoke against the Soviet left global cabal -that's when his troubles began.
I'm also quite skeptical of 20 year old accusations.

I suspect he is as innocent as Donald Trump. To me, this prosecution stinks of partisan bias. I'm no English lawyer. I don't know if white males can sue for racial discrimination in the UK. I don't know what a due process violation looks like. But from abroad, this looks like he was targeted.

You may have lived your life not being a rapist. But if you had sex 20 years ago and your partner, thinking back, decides it was rape - you are now a rapist.

What we define as rape has changed with cultural standards over the past 20 years. I consider it likely that what he did then was not considered rape at the time, but is now. If im right, this seems somewhat ex post facto, and an injustice.
What a badly written article. After talking about prison rapes and lack of showers and cramped cells we get this silliness:

UK judges are among the worst in the world, after being some of the best. Most are leftist weirdos, who sentence people to 3 years in jail for a mean tweet, while letting child rapists out on parole.
The judge in this case, has talked about how he "abhors racism" and how its motivated him to go into the legal profession. He's also Jewish. I bet inching for a chance to send Brand to jail not only for being somewhat conservative but for his remarks on Gaza and Israel.

Brand should never have counted on British "justice" but fled the country when he had the chance. Polanski was convicted but allowed out on bail and fled. After promising on his "word of honor" (LOL) that he wouldn't. Now, he's a big hero, beloved by the Left and Hollywood.

Again, I'll just repeat what I've said before. Its absurd to convict someone of a rape from 16 years ago. Did this woman go to the police 16 years ago, or not? If not, then the charges should have been dismissed.
There's a difference between someone getting raped (As whoppi Goldberg called it "rape rape" aka "Real rape) and this.
Lets say a woman goes to the police the next day or the next week and them not being able to convict for lack of evidence. And then, for whatever reason, new evidence, maybe DNA comes to light. Well thats one case where coming back years later might be OK. But this wasnt what happened with Brand.
As far as I can tell, its just "she said, he said" and she waited till 2026 to charge him.

Part of his schtick was parodying a rock star. It was easy enough to credibly charge him with acting like a rock star. The charges might be bogus, but multiple women did come forward to testify against him. There was smoke, exclusive of the smoke generating machine that he himself used to use.....I don't think Russell Brand presents any particular threat to society, and I don't think it's possible for him to escape unnoticed. Why not put him in a minimal security facility.. He might be guilty, but the punishment is unduly severe.
Elsewhere, I’m reading that despite the overcrowding, he will not have to share a cell for safety.

There are a lot of moral cowards that kneel whenever the soviets jail someone like Brand.

Russell Brand is an infinitely better and braver human being than Ron Desantis for example. But little Ron kept quiet and prayed for Trump to be thrown in jail.

P Diddy or whatever his name is looks like the kind of guy who could handle some time in a prison, but he apparently is having his problems there. Russell Brand looks exactly like the kind of guy who is going to have an extremely hard time in jail. Perhaps not so hard a time as Derek Chauvin, but his stay is going to be more stressful than the average prisoner. Putting him in a hard slammer amounts to extra-judicial punishment. We have to accept the jury's verdict, but there's no need to put him in such a prison.......Perhaps he did in fact rape those women. But none of them were ever in fear for their lives or physically assaulted during the crime. That makes a difference. It apparently took these women a number of years to process the fact that they had been raped. This argues against the trauma or severity of the crime. Okay, rape is not a white collar crime, but we know of women who suffered far more from men who were punished far less.
I thought everyone was supposed to be against splitting up families. Brand has children. How can anyone be in favor of sending him away from his children? I'm so confused./sarc.
