"Federal agents search Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home as part of a criminal investigation, AP sources say."

AP reports.
The search was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations agents, said the people... More details about the investigation and its focus were not immediately clear, though Vice President JD Vance last May signaled that the Trump administration would investigate Omar for immigration fraud allegations, which she has denied...  The Justice Department said in a statement Monday that HSI agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant....

In game theory, this is called reciprocal defection. One side's breach of a cooperative moral norm licenses the other side to abandon the nortm (i.e., defect) in response as a form of retaliation or self-protection. This will not be the last instance of reciprocal defection in red/blue conflict. The spiral goes in only one way.

Not unless you believe that prominent Democrats should be above the jaw. Many Democrats fo appear to believe that, but I had thought better of you. The evidence that Ilhan Omar broke American laws to bring members of her family into this country seems overwhelming. The Biden administration’s failure to investigate is the true scandal.

Revenge Tag? Probably not. There seems good probability of an actual crime of serious consequence - election and service of ineligible Congress Critter; as contrasted with blatant "lawfare" waged against many R's.

Consider a city police officer who stops an erratic driver who reeks of alcohol, tests well above the legal limit, and is the lawyer representing the officer's wife in a bitter divorce. Not "revenge," just happy coincidence.

After a little push back on the idea that revenge and Justice are all that different:

"Revenge can be calculated and proportionate. Someone can deliberately wait, gather evidence, and impose a response that matches the original harm without rage or pleasure in suffering.
Likewise, judicial or institutional justice is rarely emotion-free. Juries, judges, prosecutors, and the public respond to moral outrage, victim impact, sympathy, fear, or group anger. Sentencing and even findings of guilt can be shaped by these emotions; procedural rules and standards of evidence are attempts to constrain them, not proof that the process runs on pure reason." ~ Grok

Justice is an attempt to dress up revenge, but in the end, they serve the same necessary purposes, and they can both be abused in the same way.

Well, somebody's spending plenty of money in Minnesota, because Lisa Demuth (running for governor against "Our Amy" Klobuchar) and Michele Tafoya (running against Peggy Flanagan) have matched the DFL, the Alliance for a Better Minnesota and the other flying monkeys dollar for dollar. Besides Omar being a Democrat, what is the exact “revenge” here? There is a lot of vengeance Trump could take for how he, his family, and his cabinet was treated during his first administration and leaving office, but Omar is way down the list. I get that Biden protected many people with the autopen pardons, but still, she’s down the list and this issue regarding Omar has been around since she entered the political scene.

If she’s innocent, then this investigation will put an end to the innuendo and likely make her more powerful. Unless she’s innocent of the immigration fraud but gets caught being involved with the various financial fraud in her district.

The difference between lawfare and justice is the more important question here. If you are violating long-held precedents, changing or creating laws just for one target, hiding evidence, violating rules, and shopping for judges and prosecutors, or charging single items as multiple charges, or charging what never gets charged because of who your target is, that's lawfare, not justice. Is there some of that here? I haven't seen it.

Mike (MJB Wolf) বলেছেন...

It appears Omar’s genocidal father might be at the heart of the immigration investigation and his failure to admit he was a colonel in the Somali Army is at issue. She of course only describes him as an “educator.” Both DC and Mogadishu (MN) homes searched simultaneously.

The charges stem from an Instagram photo posted in May 2025 showing seashells arranged as "86 47". Prosecutors contend the numbers imply a threat ("86" meaning to get rid of, and "47" referring to the 47th president). Each count carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.”

Also, there are the multiple cases brought by Fani Willis that were thrown out including the RICO allegation. The Russian Collusion Hoax that IEE still peddles that had three major investigations that concluded it was always a fraud. The General Flynn persecution. And the case everyone is mentioning in the thread where the FBI raided Trump's residence supposedly looking for stolen classified information. Did you know that Trump got 180,000 Muslim votes in Michigan in 2024? You know why? Because like me, they believed his lies about no new wars. Trump in 2024 had increased Republican totals among both Muslim and Jewish voters, among blacks and Hispanics, among working class whites who were sick of sending their sons off to war, in fact there was a statistically significant trend that the more casualties an area took in previous wars, the higher the vote for Trump in 2024.

He kissed it all away, but I can't in good conscience vote for Republicans when I know full well that Trump will take it as signal to double down on his disastrous Israel-first policies.

Reposting a comment on this report I added at NeoNeoCon's place.

Bill Shipley just put up a long post on the Omar raid and her immigration situation on his Shipwreckedcrew’s Port-O-Call Substack. I think unfortunately it’s behind his paywall but I’ll try to give a TL;DR summary.

https://shipwreckedcrew.substack.com/p/yes-minn-rep-ilhan-omar-can-be-denaturalized

As you can sorta tell from the URL it is Shipley’s opinion that Omar does face naturalization, though maybe not criminal, jeopardy regardless of her age at the time she immigrated. In fact, if she was a minor she might be in more trouble than if she had been an adult. If she was a minor her ability to apply for naturalization was based on the acceptance for immigration and naturalization of her “father” (I note there are some questions regarding that, as well) who was, at least according to some sources, a fairly high ranking officer in the Somali National Army during the Marxist dictatorship of Mohammed Said Barre, and is said to have participated in human rights violations and other atrocities during SNA suppression of unrest involving the Isaaq tribe located in the area of Somalia that calls itself “Somaliland.” (He notes that the recent diplomatic recognition of an independent nation of Somaliland by Israel might be the source of additional information about the Omar family.) US immigration law bars the acceptance for refugee status of anyone affiliated with a Marxist or totalitarian party, and the regime of Barre in Somalia was an self-proclaimed Marxist dictatorship. It appears that Omar’s father described himself as an ‘educator’ on his immigration and refugee applications, a characterization continued by Omar in her own writing, without disclosing his association with the Somali National Army and Barre’s government. That would make his application for naturalization invalid under US law therefore making her subsequent application invalid as well. There is a case directly on point for Omar’s father of a former Nazi concentration camp guard who passed himself off as a laborer, was admitted to the US under the Displaced Persons provisions after WWII, and was eventually deported after the USSC ruled there was no statute of limitations on revoking immigration or naturalization status if facts which would have caused a rejection of the application were discovered even long after the fact. It is not quite on point for Omar but it certainly raises the possibility her naturalization could be revoked because her entry into the US was the result of fraud, even if she wasn’t the one committing the fraud.

The only question Shipley has is the basis for the search warrant since denaturalization is a civil action, not a criminal one, and search warrants are part of a criminal investigation. He speculated there might be information regarding the family’s immigration process as detailed in Omar’s writings, and an investigation could have the purpose of determining if there was ongoing fraud to conceal her father’s history. I would also think there could be a criminal investigation into Omar’s connection with various Somali fraud rings in the Twin Cities so the search warrant might have nothing to do with the immigration case, or the search might have had multiple purposes.

Yes. See Christopher B post above.

Also, she may have lied about her age, claiming to be 17 so she would get US status under her dad. If she was 18, she would have to get it on her own.

This is another "if she did this, she was never a US citizen".
