Woman writes a very lengthy Substack piece laboriously defending her husband after he was mocked (hilariously) by the announcers at a Giants game.
She was caught on camera carrying a baby and a stack of 3 food containers, lumbering back to her seat:

The clip went viral, with predictable on-line trashing of the man, and now we've got the woman, in another dimension of multi-tasking, writing "I’m the Mom in That Viral Giants Clip. Let Me Tell You About My Husband. You saw me carrying our baby and food. There was more happening in our family that night."
What else was happening last night? We're told the couple attended the ballgame in remembrance of a recently deceased friend. The woman was carrying a baby and food, but the man was "carrying" his grief: "The camera showed what I was carrying in my hands. It couldn’t show what he was carrying that night."
By the way, the announcers were great, in true baseball-announcer form, so friendly and affectionate, with exclamations like "Holy smokes!" "Oh, my goodness!" and "Bless her heart." I love this part of baseball on TV — the camera finds interesting people in the crowd, and the announcers have gentle fun with it. There's so much affection for the fans. And those fans all know they could be caught on camera at any point. They're part of the show.
I'd recommend against going into social media to call more attention to yourself. It seems as if it was one more thing the woman had to do for the man.

“It seems as if it was one more thing the woman had to do for the man.”
If you read the piece, she makes it clear that she wrote it for herself not for her husband. She doesn’t want the world to think less of her for staying in a marriage with a bad husband. She’s not defending her husband, she’s defending herself.
“I love this part of baseball on TV”
…me too. Red Sox Don and Jerry were great at it. Inane banter. We all complained about the pace of the game but there was something magical about the small talk or long pauses in the call of the game…
From the linked piece:
"Going viral has shown me firsthand that we have become quick to vilify people from a brief clip, filling in everything we cannot see with assumptions. You could see that my hands were full. You couldn’t hear my husband offer to help or hear me tell him to eat. You couldn’t know that he was grieving or that I wanted to take care of him that evening. If our viral moment contributes anything to the ongoing cultural conversation about how we judge what we see online, I hope it reminds us to be more comfortable saying, “I don’t know the whole story.”
The benefit of the doubt is more than an expression. It is a life philosophy that asks us to be curious before we are certain, to leave room for an explanation, and to remember that the person on our screen has a life beyond the moment we are watching."
…I like her essay and glad she wrote it. We’re going through a high-profile death in the family taking turns carrying the stray people and food back to our seats to watch the game…
My wife loves to go to games. When we go, she mostly loves to roam around the park and snack. I prefer to watch the game. If one of us is going to make a run to the concession stand, it will be her. Knowing nothing else, that’s my assumption here.
I think the announcers were as Althouse described. They commented on her in a complimentary manner. She was being a good mom taking care of her entire family, and probably would be the last to eat in the seats.
Mostly it is 0-1 game in the 5th between to teams already eliminated from playoff contention. Not much else to discuss about the game.
She's standing by her man. Nothing wrong with that (except that as Althouse notes it brings her husband's mockable conduct to a much larger audience). The guy has to just take the hit. A little humor goes a long way.
Also--going to the ballgame in remembrance of a deceased friend. I'll have to use that one sometime.
Everyone knows better than to insult Ramses.
For those who don't, for whatever reason, follow links, the woman left her seat because she needed the bathroom and took the baby to go ahead and change her diaper, as a matter of efficiency. On the way back, she texted her husband to ask if he wanted something to eat and included a screenshot of a menu. This is what set up the video that we saw.
Now, people have no expectation (or shouldn't have any expectation) of privacy in public. And people are going to make what they will of what they see, however surface.
This is a cautionary tale about jumping to conclusions, though, which is why I excerpted the two paragraphs I did in my previous comment. (By the way, these are the two paragraphs that preceded Althouse's excerpt.)
I would also note that sometimes humans single out other people for praise as a way of, if not denigrating, then at least mocking other individuals. Although no doubt intended in a lighthearted way, this is what the announcers accomplished, regardless of intentions. Of course, whatever other on-liners did with that banter is on those on-liners. But the announcers' jumping to conclusions did sort of set that stage.
Oh no, ann.
Read the whole thing?
That lady was absolutely right to "wade into social media" and tell us the rest of the story... she is happy, and her husband supports his family.
Can you say that?
Stop judging old woman and leave other more traditional families alone...
(she took the girl with her to the restroom for a diaper change, and asked the husband if she. could buy some food for him to eat on her way back to the seats... he hadn't eaten all day working, she had. So he ate first...)
You gotta stop hating men, annie.
It's gonna cost y0u another marriage if you dont treat men respectfully as equals... hard for you, since you married down to an uneducated boy, but try?
People like ann make their money today denigrating others and tearing our country apart to make themselves out to be the wise judgers of others.
Saddest thing is, she does it for the money, and attention, she doesn't really need...
I am glad title 9 came along to teach the generations coming up after the boomer girls that it's OK to play ypur own sports and develop your own lifelong hobbies. Nobody wants 5o end up like poor ann in madison, with a man, but no identity of her own.
"lumbering" back yo her seat...
Lol. She's not THAT fat, annie.
She was graceful actually and dint run anybody over getting back to her seata
The problem is sports announcers who think they’re the show.
Her love and her eloquence are praiseworthy.
Men engage in insulting each other as a kind of bonding.Real men take it and joke about it more, insulting in turn. Women dont get this about men. So can turn something good natured into a form of emasculation. She is defending her husband like she would be defending a girl friend of hers
My experience, there was nothing out of the ordinary in that clip.
A lot of times I see what I want to see. We have a tag for that.
It's about perspective and not jumping to conclusions with a glance. anamorphic sculpture (or perceptual sculpture)
Mike Krukow pitched for the Cubs (1976–81).
Looks like you misjudged this story too, ann...
Don't you get tired misreading headlines and blowing popular takes?
This is a good woman. She has a strong family. Leave her alone and try punching up at the people in power lying and cheating, not the little American families just trying to get by?
Only the dirty dawgs here like your mean grrl mode. You should know why you drive good people, good women, educated commenters out playing to the divorced, ant-family old misogynists you and meade have collected in your fart filled "salon" over the years.
Remember how the boys in the garage band almost burned down your house before you realized what you were hosting, unsupervised in your home?
Don't you learn?
The beloved Detroit Tigers' radio announcer Ernie Harwell had this shtick where when a fan caught a ball in the stands, he'd say "That ball was caught by a man from _______," and he'd randomly pick a town in Michigan, or in whatever state the game was being played, just to give the town a little air play. Some listeners thought he actually somehow knew where they were from, but he acknowledged he just did it for fun.
In 2026, it appears that any public interaction between the sexes, particularly involving families and children, will be press ganged into fodder to feed the war between men and women. How did we get here and why?
Discuss.
"They're here from Sandwich." - Jack Brickhouse
Paddy, her man is in a bad place...
She doesn't want him to join the depress3d working-man is belittled into taking his life club...
Good for her for defending a man who works to support her and his children at home. Most men today cut and run... cohen, meade...
Annie chose losers. She can't imagine a woman and man in an equal marraige supporting one another in traditional ways. He is her mealticke5, and sh3 respects that. Nobody respects meade, really...
Ask the professor, mezzrow.
Apparently she cannot find anything g newsworthy in America today that she is brave enough to opine on, so social destruction is her only way of feeding the fire and remai ing relevant...
And tossing red mear to her domesticated animals here.
'He said he’d have whatever had the shortest line."
Southern women have an expressive reaction when they hear something like that. It resembles a cat expression.
Prof,
Try the more meaty conversation between Dionne, Siegal and Carney (catholic dad of 6... no law degree like douthat, and east coast isolated, but good chu4cggoing catholic conve4ts like vance, so they are qualified to lead... lol) in todays NYT on what is happening in Midwest politics?
You live here, so intact lady parts or not, you too qualify to opine in matters that matter now in the country. Whay are you waiting for? Money?.
Leave the mothers alone and take your potshots at the daddy's in power, nor some poor schmuck at a ballgame with his wife and daughter?
You are old and in m the dinner singalong demographic... those are the minds you should be contending with. Stop watching boob tube with yer man and up yer game?
Lol... youre in the Dionne Siegal old people d3mographic... boomers fading into senility still convinced you have a say in America's future...
Not the dingaling singalong dinner demographic..
Remember, the less you read, the more you lose the skill so know even basic headline style flummoxes you, because you dont know where to place the emphasis on words when you are used to someone reading to you doing that job for your brain...
Ditto with the dingaling stories. You have to sharpen your mind against brains that can challenge you, old grrrl.
Don't go out like this, prof.
Ask AI if you cant think about this for yourself, but only want to hear flattery... it will tell you the truth if you keep prodding for the answers you want to hear. You get that right?
Jersey Fled, in baseball, the announcers really are a significant part of the show.
You know the way the wife was standing on camera there?
Sure looks like she was trying to show off her huge chest... look at them breasts!
Hey, it could happen... you could go viral again! Lol
Too bad she brought him brisket, not carrot sticks and onion rings. Think of what controversy you could cook up with that to get your blofg attention... lol
A baseball game that runs 3 hours averages out to around 18 minutes of actual action. The announcers have a lot of time to fill, particularly in a dull game like thia apparently was.
