I am going on a trip to New America later this year. Should be a fun time!
We're saving that name for Mars.
Well, it's not really new, and it's not really Mexico, so, why not!
Why 19th century America stayed with "New Mexico" instead of trying to de-Mexicanize or Americanize the name is an interesting question. Suggestions included Montezuma, Acoma, Jefferson, Lincoln, Salado and Sierra. Apparently, they couldn't just call it Jefferson or Lincoln or Madison or Polk or Carson or Fremont: the Spanish heritage was too strong.
I'm partial to Nuevo Tejas myself.
What is he trying to distract from this time? The Lake Ontario bit came after the six month mark of his "little excursion."

imtay, I am guessing diesel. Its harvest time on farms around here, farmers are burning the most diesel they do all year and Trump's war of choice is hitting their bottom line quite hard.
Biden was blamed for the last huge spike, Trump is being blamed now. At least Biden had dementia to blame.

Let's just hope that GOP supporters finally begin to understand that they put a narcissistic simpleton into the White House twice and not the genius he claims to be. Democrats should at least briefly consider that the good fortune they may have in November will come compliments of Trump, not as a result of anything that they have done.

As a current resident of the former New Mexico state, I approve this change. Maybe now people will know we are actually one of the 50 states! Yes, every resident has a story of meeting someone who is astonished to learn we are Americans.
