Deaths usually come in eights or fourteens. The latest is Jaye P. Morgan. She had a reputable career as a mainstream vocalist in the fifties and went on to be a fixture on Hollywood Squares and the Gong Show. I think she was either gay or a gay icon, but nobody's saying.
She and Donald Trump were both in "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York," but I don't think the flag will be flying at half-mast for her.
You may recall my ongoing legal troubles resulting from taking law enforcement action in the DC Metro two years ago. Well today I was the victim of an assault (really a battery, but DC gloms them both in one statute) in the Metro. I was riding the escalator from one platform to another when some wanker trying not to miss his train ran down the left side, holding an electric scooter, whose handlebar hit me in the back of the head.
I did what they wanted me to do back in 2024 and called the transit police.They responded quickly and did similar to what they did in my case, pulling the video to track the offender to his last stop, where they were able to interview him. They would not tell me much about him or the interview, but he apparently admitted to the actions but not any intent to hit me. So they are not taking the case any further.
What really smarts is that back in 2024, my affirmative defenses included apprehension of immediate harmful or offensive contact from the subway dancers’ erratic motions. And what happened today? I was harmfully and offensively contacted by Escalator Scooter Wanker’s erratic motion down the escalator with his handlebars wagging.
I am consulting with my attorneys to see what sort of hay can be made.

I live very close to the Canadian border, before Trump started running his mouth about the 51st state, it was hard to get a table in most restaurants around here. Now it’s never a worry. I finally gave up my battle with autocorrect and have stopped trying to reference misspelled “excavation” above and substitute my chosen word “escalation.” My phone has become rather unpredictable in guessing at the word I am trying to spell and often misses very simple words with one letter out of place and at other times rejects a perfectly fine word to sub in wildly inappropriate words.
I fear for younger generations who never learned to spell and rely on our increasingly unreliable tech to make it make sense.

All the other responses to me are just as tone-deaf. Not so very different from the Canadians determined to cut off their noses to spite their faces over Trump.

I turned mine off years ago. It did more harm than good.
You don't like Trump. I get it. But he isn't responsible for the shitshow that is Canada. Liberal politics have been dragging Canada down since the first Trudeau.

Please use the comments forum to respond to the post. Don't fight with each other. Be substantive... or interesting... or funny. Comments should go up immediately... unless you're commenting on a post older than 4 days. Then you have to wait for us to moderate you through. It's also possible to get shunted into spam by the machine. We try to keep an eye on that and release the miscaught good stuff. We do delete some comments, but not for viewpoint... for bad faith. Also: No italics, even briefly. Use asterisks for emphasis. And don't play with the format by changing fonts or using boldface or all caps. Never include more than one extra line break between paragraphs.
