Standard Time should be permanent.
Didn’t we already run this experiment? The U.S. tried permanent Daylight Saving Time in 1974 and abandoned it after public support collapsed over dark winter mornings, especially concerns about kids going to school before sunrise. Sometimes history is worth remembering before repeating.
I completely agree with Peachy+2. I'm not Orthodox. I'm against permanent Daylight Savings Time because I never saw the need for DST in the first place. And I prefer to get up early and start my day. I'd prefer the sun starting to come up early and leaving us at the end of the day, earlier.
I don't think I'm alone in that.
Greenwich standard time. Japanese standard time? The sun rises.
I am glad not to be a slave to the clock.
Life is all about adapting to change. People will get used to permanent DST.
I prefer natural sun-up/ sun-down based on the rotation of the earth and the seasonal tilt of the earth. God Bless.

Funny how jewish fundamentalists and Christian fundies are treated differently. The first is orthodox jews aren't called fundamentalists. Even though they are extremists and no different in their extreme spirit from the Christian fundies.
Its hard to imagine the NYT's giving us a sympathetic view of christian fundies and their POV on daylight savings time. But as with Israel, there are always two rules, one for Jews and another for everyone else.
Orthodox Jews, IRC, refused to obey the Covid restrictions which lead Cuomo to criticize them. And next thing you know, Cuomo was o-u-t out.
As for Orthodox jews and DST, any help they can provide in keeping it is welcome. Maybe we can get Netenyahu to come out for keeping DST. After all, the Congressmen all "support Israel", with Goofballs like Ted Cruz telling us he got into politics to "save Israel". So, Bibi could be the decisive factor. LOL.
These idiot congressman refuse to pass any of the MAGA agenda, wont pass the SAVE act, cant restore fiscal sanity, or even pass the budget bills on time, but they have time to get rid of DST, which is probably 100 on the list of the 100 most important issues.

Another joooo conspiracy, which has nothing to do with the fact that there is a very ancient and very large religion which is known as "Orthodox Christianity." As distinguished from "fundamentalist" Christianity, which is generally Protestant.

I agree, I have never understood the angst. Two days a year and you get more daylight all year. Most clocks adjust themselves, it s on a Sunday so you just have to make sure you set a clock for church ONE day a year. The other one you get an extra hour to sleep or get ready. I just do not get it.

Permanent Standard Time is a far better idea. DST was created to support after school child labor.
If the Jews are against permanent DST, then that means the DSA will advocate for it in order to "get" the Jews.

I just love how some people insist THEIR preference is what's needed without any consideration of how other people - living in different time zones and different latitudes - might prefer something else.
It's not all about you.
So many public policy proposals tacitly assume the continuation of the benefits from current arrangements, with the seamless addition of benefits from the new policy. It's child-like. And too often, it succeeds in putting bad policies in place.
