"In the US" makes it sound as though she's not American, but, per Wikipedia, she was born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Kentucky.
Also: She's the daughter of a Lebanese-American Maronite father, she studied landscape architecture at Purdue University, and her husband is T Bone Burnett.

Well, the whining certainly hasn’t let up.
She certainly knows the logical solution to a problem - full speed over the cliff. But stop the movie before gravity mansplains what happens next. Hear me roar!
I remember being in the minority of disliking that movie. I do remember noticing Brad Pitt. I have never understood suicide as an empowering feminist message.
When I was substitute teaching in high schools I noticed that young women hadn't changed much since my youth despite all the feminist activists. I recall how shocked I was by the stereotypical behavior of boys being aggressive and girls being passive.
I also have noticed on current Youtube videos that when college students are invited to question guest speakers, almost entirely the guys are the ones who step up.
I wonder what the odds are that those two leftists reported the crime and cooperated with police, or if they just left the armed criminals free to continue to shove guns into other people's faces, kill, and likely end up killed young too, all to stroke their own egos.
Rosalyn: I taught composition, lit, and Western Civilization at rich private and poor community colleges and also gave many guest speeches on various topics in adult ESL and other colleges, as a VISTA. Only at the rich private school did boys dominate slightly, and I had mostly boys, fleeing from "composition classes" based on stuff like lesbian poetry. But there was no incivility there. At the poor community college, the women and girls definitely dominated, especially in night classes for adults, which were packed with polite military vets, ambitious young single mothers working long shifts and working hard to become hospital employees, and fabulous Jamaican women becoming pharmacists. In ESL, where the CDC gave us a grant to do "culturally sensitive AIDS education," everyone was nice, many brought food to thank me, few could communicate with each other, and nobody understood a word I said, it being culturally sensitive, though as I used images to describe symptoms, one very excited Indian man would shout happily, "I have that!" The CDC grant also had me teach classes to junkie prostitutes in rehab, who mainly passed out and often fell out of their chairs and already knew how you get AIDS. Your tax dollars at waste, but the girls are alright.
So now the code words are "young guys"? Whatever happened to "youths" or "teens"? So it's OK to stereotype the muggers as male and young but we daren't mention the color of their skin. Shouldn't we simply identify all criminals as "human beings" to be on the safe side or is that going too far?
I'm glad someone else agrees with me about "Thelma and Louise" being a terrible movie with a stupid ending.
Well… it’s Larry David. Sort of explains why Khouri was perceived as anti-men back then.
What benefit is there in praising the current state of things? She simply provides the expedient response. The one that helps sell her stage play.

Tina, it was "two young guys", meaning, a couple of riggen scum. So, of course, this dumb twat, and the equally asinine Larry David, didn't report it to the police. Reporting a riggen to the police could end your career.
Well we’ve had all this DEI crap, and despite that “nothing has changed.” So obviously we can get rid of DEI since it fixed nothing.
