I am a worrier and a fatalist. Traits that are part of my conservativism. I think the DSA led Democrats will have supermajorities in America by 2029. With that said, if I was 60 or above with decent wealth, I would suggest Switzerland, etc. Bad time are coming.
As far as experts go- I have a lot of stories from a plant operators point of view.
But today...
I dropped my 2019 Ioniq at the dealer Monday morning. Told them I'm pretty certain that the reason the car won't go into reverse is because the battery under the driver's seat is failing to put out a constant 12V. The electronics that control the shifting won't work with 10.8V. Got the fact that low battery voltage would cause shifting problems from a quick google search. Today I drove to the dealership to get an update from the people actually doing the troubleshooting. They were sending the request to Hyundai to replace the battery- under warranty. 2019 was the first year they used lithium gel, and as an incentive, they offered a lifetime warranty on all the batteries in the car, including the starting battery as it was also lithium gel.
I may get my car back Monday. I was listening to the customer before me talk. Don't know what vehicle he had- or what kind of battery- but the new battery just installed had one defective cell, so they're ordering a new one and he should also get his vehicle back on Monday...
High tech electronics are very voltage sensitive. Oh, I didn't see it and am afraid to look it up, but one of my sons also did a search and said losing battery voltage can cause the brakes to fail... Some things simply should not be electronic. At all.
This mornings fantasy from the 80 year old demented president said Minnesota attacked itself and not Iran. Trump told reporters at Camp David on Friday that he does not think Iran is behind a cyberattack on Minnesota water systems, despite U.S. officials reportedly suspecting otherwise.Of course we have seen this before when trump said Putin told me he didn't do it and why would he(remember that brilliant piece of drivel)against the intel from the US. Trump said during a cabinet meeting. "I think I blame it on Minnesota because they're grossly incompetent. That's it,they attacked themselves. Of course,Trump did not say where he thought the attacks may have originated. The White House wouldn't touch this with a stick Tim Waltz said trump "knows exactly who is responsible for this attack, and knows that 7 other states were hit too. Trump's claim is at odds with a memo cited by Wired on Thursday which said that the Minnesota Fusion Center, a state-level intelligence-sharing entity, found that the July 26 and 27 hacks were “aligned” with an allegedly Iran-linked campaign. News Media cited unnamed cyber sabotage U.S. and state officials said on Thursday and investigators believed the hacks were probably the work of Tehran. The FBI, NSA, EPA, and CISA, linked to Iranian-affiliated hackers in a July 22 report.Trump has previously politicized major cyber incidents, including when in 2016 he urged Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's emails, or when he downplayed Russian hacking efforts in the 2016 elections. And as a follow to the other fantasy, I am quite sure the same folks who fell for the VANDALS STORY will believe Hamas is going to disarm and all will be rosy in Gaza(check with BIBI on that) This fella is a train wreck ,he is in over his head and a "clear and present danger" WAR MONGERS all alike. This WAR is expanded don't believe it when they said we already won it,were dealing with bombs from Ukraine to Iran,Saudi's trying to get involved,,bombs sent to Egypt from Iran sure look like expansion and not winning from here. Cyber hacking is a serious modern new war approach and for a president to say an American state attacked themselves instead of the enemy trump put the US in war with in play with is in itself, dangerous brain dead rhetoric. Wake up, this fella needs an intervention.God bless America and it will need it after this knucklehead is done.. :(
@Althouse, I saw Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Francesca Hong on “Hannity “. I am by no means a professional-class poker poker player, but it was amazingly easy to spot when she was lying. If she gets elected, you and the other citizens of Wisconsin are so screwed.

Just Loki @LokiJulianus · 18h Some people seriously believe that if 60,000 people break-into a country in 24h, if you want to remove any of them, you need to give each one of them individualized hearings and multiple appeals.
I'm still trying to figure out how the Moroccan youths who invaded Ceuta (which is a tiny enclave on the coast of Africa), plan to get across the Mediterranean to the European mainland. Will the Spanish government provide ferry service at public expense ?
There seems to be a bunch of state leaders that prefer to be remembered in history by the evil they have inflicted on their constituents rather than the good that they have done for them. Must be easier to be destructive. Any public recognition is good or something. Honestly, why would people vote in these people and/or not expel them if they weren’t honest about their intentions when they campaigned?
We’re all in some sort of cultural tribe. Many don’t mix well. It’s just the way it is.
One of the topics that hasn’t been highlighted during the Fauci episode is him experiencing a pulmonary infarction after receiving his clot shot. He went to Walter Reed for his treatment. Who knew? Apparently not the press. *cough*
Finally, Trump's Justice Department is actually interested in justice: The Justice Department moved Friday to dismiss a criminal case charging a former Olympian with deliberately damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. Government lawyers said in a 20-page court filing that information provided since the indictment of David Hearn shows that the damage was the result of a "flawed installation by the contractor" as well as "the rush to complete the project prior to events associated with the America 250 celebration in the weeks surrounding Independence Day 2026." "Given all of this newly discovered information, it is difficult to attribute the widespread damage to the Reflecting Pool to vandalism, let alone to establish that fact beyond a reasonable doubt," said the filing from U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro. Hearn's lawyers said in a statement that the case against him should never have been brought. "Its dismissal today does not erase the abuse of government power in arresting and charging a patriotic American who did nothing wrong. The government's approach was ready, fire, aim. The administration owes Mr. Hearn an apology," the lawyers said.
The Free Press scored an interview with Vinita Prabhakar. It seems she was very much fired for the short story.
The school is charged with violating Florida's Campus Free Expression Act (signed by DeSantis in 2021). There's another state statute that might come into play, the Stop WOKE act (signed by DeSantis in 2022).
I get that Republican want to stop indoctrination in schools. But it seems to me that Fred Hawkins went overboard in the other direction. The federal courts have already overturned the Stop WOKE act for college students (as they should, in my opinion). FIRE is representing the plaintiff (I'm a big supporter of FIRE), of course.
It's funny -- I see this story in the NYT, I'm like, "that fucking Commie dishrag, I don't believe them for a second." I see this interview in the Free Press, and I'm like, "Oh! Free Speech! Of course!"
FIRE has a lot of street cred with me, because they represent unpopular speakers across both sides of the political aisle. It's like the difference between Hugo Black and William Brennan. Leftists can't see any difference and I see a whole world of difference.
NYT uses free speech to advance Karl Marx and indoctrinate the kids.
FIRE uses free speech to advance the education of all. Anyway, I'm on her side, pulling for her to win the lawsuit.
Complaint is here if you want to read it. I love how open FIRE is.
ACLU, that's another org that's become a Marxist joke. If you don't know what free speech is, get the fuck out.
(Ironically, the ACLU was founded by Marxists, and they kicked them all out when Stalin and Hitler joined up in 1939. Now the ACLU is a book-banning Marxist org again. Because that's what the law schools are churning out, apparently).
Personally I think the real fight is to bust up the teacher's union, and hire public school teachers who aren't in the union.
Lonejustice quotes “ "Its dismissal today does not erase the abuse of government power in arresting and charging a patriotic American who did nothing wrong. The government's approach was ready, fire, aim. The administration owes Mr. Hearn an apology," the lawyers said.” No apology needed. Jan 6 people who did nothing wrong and SPENT TIME IN DC JAIL got no apology so “eff off” Mr. Lawyer!

Francesca Hong: She was diagnosed with 1) bipolar disease, 2) had a mental breakdown, 3) was placed in psychiatric hospitalization, 4) did self-harm by cutting, and 5) experienced a lithium overdose. And now she's running for Governor of Wisconsin as a communist. Though she says she's not fully a communist and will only do some things that other communists do. Unless she has a mental fart in which case, all options are on the table.
Good luck, Wisconsin. May you have more conservatives and independents than leftist to far leftists. If not, you'll soon be unrecognizable from Minnesota and both strong candidates to be traded to Canada for Alberta and a draft pick to be announced later.
Did you know , about 6 years ago - Portland OR defunded their police - and used the money to hire social services. No one is manning the 9-11 calls, either.
A naked man in a Portland OR Park tried to abduct a 7 year old girl. All 9-11 calls from witnesses went un-answered. eventually the social services folks showed up. they were useless.
The left: No cash bail. Open up the prison doors, shut the prisons down, defund the police (now they call it RE-ALLOCATION OF FUNDS) de-fund and dismantle Immigrations and Customs.
Democrat Socialists won $5.2 million in a lawsuit claiming they were the successor to the New American Movement, a.k.a. the Students for a Democratic Society. These were the underground terrorists who blow up buildings and killed people. Also supporters of Charlie Manson.
Watching Francesca Hong and Abdul Al-Sayed feverishly shift into reverse on some of their full-on far-left beliefs it's worrisome to realize how well it worked for Spanberger in Virginia.
