Great voice. Musicians, for some reason, often make fantastic actors.
Waits made Down By Law 40 years ago. My first Jim Jarmusch movie, and still one of my favorites.
Early Jarmusch films (Dead Man, Stranger Than Paradise, Night on Earth, Mystery Train) are fantastic. The pacing is slow and the humor is sly, and they are so, so cool. Waits is in all of those, except Jarmusch's first movie, Stranger Than Paradise.

My mom had a '55 Bel Air when I was a kid. I loved the car so much that I got a personalized license plate for my X3 to match what was on Mom's car. Makes me smile every time I see it.

That is about the funniest thing I have ever heard. But seriously, avoid the later Tom Waits.
Tom Waits should have been on "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" or in "Architectural Digest" so we could finally find out if he lived in a mansion or slept under an overpass.
Down By Law was great. “Ya gotta play a lotta golf”. I use that one to this day!
