"Ms. Upton-Cosulich, 40... a mother, a pottery studio owner and a survivor of abuse... was in the kitchen of the house she cannot afford to buy when she learned that Mr. Platner had suspended his campaign. The feeling reminded her of 2016, when she read reports that officials with the Democratic National Committee had privately derided and mocked her preferred presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont...."

"Cory Upton-Cosulich sat in a parked car by a hiking trail in Maine this week, fuming over the implosion of Graham Platner’s Senate campaign."
"Her anger wasn’t directed at him.
It was aimed at the powerful people far away from her working-class harbor town who, one after the next, had rescinded their endorsements of a candidate she supported in the Democratic primary last month. The feeling was familiar — watching people in Washington decide who should represent her.

"They supported him anyway" Right. For the left that wants to f*%k the country, even rape-rape doesn't matter. But let's remember it next time progs go after a GOPer for lesser offenses. Let's remember it next time we are told to believe all women. No more phony lefty morality plays.
"Oh, no, Sanders won't get the nomination!"
Lady, Sanders never had a chance, either of the nod, or of *winning*.
He's an awful, humorless scold who hates people having choices* and being happy.
(* His crack about "too many brands of deodorant" is hilarious when I see people supporting him who *need special very particular deodorant* for allergy/sensitivity needs.
Do they imagine Comrade Sanders' Deodorant Commission would ensure THEIR needs were met in the Four Kinds Of Deodorant Allowed?
Fools.)
what does "working on her behalf" actually mean"..?
I'll take a swing -
Answer: harming, jailing, harassing, crippling, killing, prosecuting, damaging, any or all of those listed - the person she hates most.
Can we talk seriously about universal suffrage please?
It is frankly ridiculous that we let everyone vote.
At best 50% of adults should be voting.
At best.
** they recognized Mr. Platner’s swaggering style from men in their lives who had hurt them. They supported him anyway...."**
Just like they would sleep with him anyway…and they will fall in line and vote for whomever the party tells them to vote for anyway. In this independent-minded slice of the country.
She's admitting to being unable to think and decide for herself. She believes the reason she cannot do so is "people in Washington", but the reality is it is her. The people in Washington just prey on people like her, and she goes along with the abuse until, like Platner's ex, they decide to speak up about it because they want the "real story" released.
I'll just bet Achilles supports Vector Marx.
Stop all women from voting! and other retarded bullshit... that helps the left.
Fight the Oligarchy, honey.
Bad boy. Bad boy. What are you going to do, when you're deemed nonviable?
Brazenly do every corrupt, illegal thing you can to eliminate your opponent from the running.
When needed, throw out your own democratically chosen candidates and replace them without a vote, repeatedly.
Accuse the other party of "ending democracy".
Most shameless of all, call yourselves the "Democratic Party".
It takes a very low level of self-respect to vote for this over and over.
Axios reporting that Platner is telling staff he'll exit the race Monday. That tells me he is still in. Monday is the 13th, but I've seen this game too many times recently. Trudeau said he'd step down in the future. Starmer said he'd step down in the future. Sure, they ended up stepping down, but they stuck around quite a bit longer after the initial announcement and did even more damage. They also didn't step down until their preferred replacement was ready to step up, which is something Platner has already stated.
I have often said that I would gladly give up the franchise as better, more rational candidates would be elected if only men voted (even really stupid, wacko men produced by unis these days).
McSteamy... oysters, in a half shell, served with a liberal portion of butter, dairy, not oily.
Demos-cracy is aborted with Democratics.
I'm not registered with any party, but don't give that shit that both parties are the same. The swamp is a thing, and over spending is bipartisan, but outside of that there is a clear choice.
10:40 Bagoh - that.
"Stop all women from voting! and other retarded bullshit... that helps the left."
Of course women should vote, and I wish it wasn't true, but we need to admit that you and I would both have most of what we want from politics if women didn't vote. Let's at least admit there is a problem, a big problem.
What's interesting is not the odd preferences of this woman -- it's a free country, after all -- but why the NYT decided to publish it at all. The NYT has been invested for a long time in the success of lefty politics as embodied in Team Dem, and has a history of publishing stories during campaigns intended to help the Dem candidate win. The story about Bush's DUI arrest in Maine, published shortly before the 2000 election, is an obvious example, but there are many others. So, what's the upside for them in publishing this lady's political cri de coeur, since the NYT will still be rooting for whoever the Dems nominate to beat Collins? It all seems like the same weird desire to marry DSA lefty craziness with more traditional (and possibly winning) Team Dem politics. Alas, that seems to me to be the approach that led to the disaster in Maine, and may replicate it in Michigan and elsewhere.
Because Bernie and Graham Platner are so horrible - I don't know why we allow men to vote.
Several women said they recognized Mr. Platner’s swaggering style from men in their lives who had hurt them.
Shorter version: Spank me daddy.
Good, so stay home on election day, you crazy loon.
"So, what's the upside for them in publishing this lady's political cri de coeur"
Perhaps they see a problem that needs shamed out of the Democrat voter base.
Of course leftist females are a hot mess. They are fed lies, consume the lies like drug addicts, & are fueled by emotions instead of reason.
The remedy is do ban all women from voting?
Talk about a gift to the Soviet machine.
do = to
Awwww, poor baby!
Women voters: "Think of a [male voter], then take away reason and accountability."
Generally, Democrat elite are anti-Democracy. Generally, Democrat women are anti-American.
The woman vote is all that keeps Democrats viable at all. Of course it's not all women, it's the women who voted for Joe Biden, a visibly sick man, by 15 points, and give every Democrat Presidential candidate in recent time a clear majority of their votes.
Apparently the pottery studio isn't bringing in the big bucks she needs to buy the house she lives in, so somebody else ought to buy it for her. Platner promised that he would get "the oligarchs" to cough up the money. Life is so unfair!
"Several women said they recognized Mr. Platner’s swaggering style from men in their lives who had hurt them."
This is who Trump was talking about in the locker room, and they hate him for what they do.
So....she likes communism, oops, I mean Democratic Socialism. Careful what you wish for.
Frustratingly, it was female Democrats (without dicks) who were most vociferous in defending Platner. It gives abusive men the idea they like it. Yet, they will get quite angry if you say that.
"reason and accountability"
Richard Dolan--it is possible that the NYT reporter is as baffled as the rest of us by the disconnect. I'm also guessing that the replacement nominee they select will be carefully vetted for any possible rapy tendencies.
It's going to be hard for them to find a hunky socialist guy who doesn't have some angry ex-girlfriends. Maybe a gay hunky guy.
I'm no judge, but I don't think Troy Jackson is gonna do it for them.
Maine is a very poor state with many, many residents Living on various forms of Federal/ state support. It's more like a tribal reservation than a place with a real economy. Of course, it gets cash injections in the summer. because it is so undeveloped that it is filled with natural beauty. But that's like shooting up because you don't have a job - you feel better for awhile and then you wake up in the snow and still don't have a job. Platner was advocating for this kind of economy, an economy essentially run by the Federal government., a form of socialism. No one likes the Maine way, the Federal dependence. And yet a Graham Platner whose plan is to increase that dependence, gets political traction.
Poor democrat me why does this keep happening to me.
As boatbuilder suggests, the diagnosis here is that there are millions of registered voters who think that there is something deeply wrong with "the system" if their hobby does not provide them with a good living. This is the same disease that has students running up tens of thousands in debt to study nonsense that will never feed their cat, never mind themselves.
“It gives abusive men the idea they like it.”
Maybe liberal women do like it? A Republican woman would cut his nuts off, cook ‘em in olive oil, and force the a** hole to eat tbem.
This feels like the natural evolution of something brewing in Democratic Party politics for a long time -- even back to JFK. Republicans manipulate Party rules too, of course, but their rules don't allow for this degree of manipulation to become so central. The relationship between some Democratic voters and candidates like Platner seem like relationships, not mere politics. It isn't healthy and suggests that there is something lacking in the voter's life -- and being manipulated by the Party.
Happy 80th Mr. Big Mike.
**Peachy+2 said...The remedy is do ban all women from voting?**
It may be preferrable to just ban left-wing women from voting, but that seems unfair. What if we take gender out of the equation and just ban leftists from voting? They shouldn't mind--they don't like democracy anyway.
I'm not a member of the woman-hater club, just the opposite. My closest friends have always been women. I put women in the highest positions in my company, and I trust them as much as the best men I know, but our culture has failed many of them with lies they want to believe. Many have been psychologically weakened through relentless coddling.
A small example: The men's soccer team had to split all the money they made in the World Cup 50/50 with the women's team, who were not even involved. The men's teams stood and sang the national anthem out loud every game, and the women's team is famous for turning their backs on the flag and kneeling in shame of their country. A lot of women need a lesson in gratitude, because it's the basis of character.
At best 50% of adults should be voting.
Net taxpayers only. Wards of the state should not have any representation at all.
I would also make a rule that anyone working for government is not allowed to vote in that government's elections.
Manhattanites like to believe that Maine and Vermont are "independent-minded slices of the country" because people up there vote like Manhattanites.
If your town has a pottery studio, it may not be a typical 'working class" town. Maine, Vermont, and rural areas closer to NYC are mixes of poor locals with affluent or downwardly mobile newcomers. They aren't exactly rustbelt cities. Hyphenated names aren't exactly "working class" either.
"was in the kitchen of the house she cannot afford to buy"
Two words for the pottery lady - Single wide.
The average Belfast, Maine home value (in the very poor state of Maine) is $395,734.
"They believe the accuser, but they also grieve the demise of a campaign that promised that politics could be different — and they blame those who failed to find a less flawed candidate"
"Toxic Femininity"
Oh, she believed all women, but gosh darn it, she still wanted her boyfriend Platner to run and not drop out. And gosh darn she's angry. Which means she'll cry and bitch a little and then go back to voting for every D and hating Orange man 24/7.
Bernie Bros and Bernie Chicks are useless. The D establishment knows they have nowhere to go, and will support them - no matter what.
The only way to get the D's establishment's attention is to vote 3rd party. which bernie bros wont do - because they DONT want to help those Goddamn Repubicans.
You have the same problem on the Right, where they put defeating the D as their number 1 priority. Better vote for social liberal, trump hating Collins then let some democrat in!
Better keep electing Miss Lindsey or Lisa Murkey - completely ignoring that if always vote for the lesser evil - you just get evil.
These people are insane
Some battered women still love the guy who beat them. I won't say that they are insane, but they are just not very bright. Of course Platner doesn't wear a wife beater tee shirt--but he does have that tattoo and that'll be enough for some women to keep on supporting him.
It wasn't the "endorsements" that killed Platner. Its the big donors cutting off their $$, and Schumer telling Platner "ActBlue" would give him zero. Nada. Zip.
Platner could have ran a low budget campaign. As Kaus said, all he needed was a car and tank of gas. Its a small state and he's already well known.
But Platner probably thought "Oh they'll blanket the state with negative ads, and I wont be able to respond. its hopeless".
"...because he had promised to work on her behalf...." Let me rephrase that.
...because he had promised to use the sovereign power* of Government to enforce on every citizen your wants of how much of the fruits of their labor each be allowed to keep, of the remainder what they can buy and at what price, what standards of care and education their children receive; to what use is put that portion of the fruits of their labor that the Government takes; and indeed, whether any particular citizen be allowed to continue living.
*Yes, that power to lawfully dispossess us of life, liberty, and property,
Stop women from voting - lol. Stop men from voting. I'll take a smart woman over a dumb man any day of the week. The way to reform the system is give fathers extra votes for being married and having a kid under 18. But that will never be done. The Establishment isn't going to support any reform that takes away their power and the Rightwing cant think past their money and guns.
Has Platner actually filed the withdrawl papers yet? If not, then there is still time for him to restart his campaign.
One can understand her frustrations, and why she turns to someone like Platner who supplies the anger and the bogeymen to blame for her troubles. She does not understand that government - of which she wants more - is the source of her financial difficulty. Housing, education, health care: all made unnecessarily more costly by the government to which Graham Platner wants to give more power. It is a doom loop of eternal frustration.
Yeah, people who don't have money will get Politicans to change that situation. Sorry your "Im all right jack - fuck you" attitude doesn't work. Crying about "muh free enterprise" and "Muh property" hasn't worked since Calvin Coolidge.
If you work with abused women you come up against this over and over. Those other men, those good men who treat them well, seem weird to them, nerdy, not sexy. Something wrong with them. And those bad boys just "I don't know Amber, but I just know that he does this because he's hurting, and I'm good at defusing him, and he says he needs me, and..." unspoken is "he's great in the sack." It breaks your heart.
She had driven over to her preferred hiking trail but sat in the car fuming?
I can't get through the paywall to see what other treasures might lie therein. The Sulzbergers sure have a low opinion of their readers, though. They think their readers are fools to be led this way and that way, willy-nilly, as the editorial "policy" demands. Only constant is Leftwards. Truth may appear in the pages, but randomly. It is too low a priority for them. And that's how their dumb readers like it.
Seriously, we have the Goverment at all levels spending 40 percent of the GDP and you still have idiots running around talking about "Small Government" and "Muh Property". what planet do they live on?
David Brooks, the man everyone loves to hate, has an article in the Atlantic, "Democrats Became Great by Fighting the Left," by which he means the far left. Well, that's something he would say, wouldn't he? And leftists respond by saying that Democrats became great by coopting and adopting the policies of the socialist left -- which is something they would say, wouldn't they?
There may still be Harry Truman and Hubert Humphrey Democrats out there -- moderate, small-town haberdashers and pharmacists -- but the base of the party is now the universities and the complex of politicians, bureaucrats, foundations, law firms, NGOs, and advocacy groups. There isn't much daylight between liberal academics and their radical students. For both, America is racist and bad. The professors just want to be left alone to enjoy their privileges whatever happens to the rest of the country. It's similar for the heads of other groups in the Democrat tent.
"...in the kitchen of the house she cannot afford to buy...."
Call Bernie Sanders. Maybe he has a spare house you can use.
Women…
You know, most of the commenters here have it figured out by today's metrics. Leftist, unmarried, childless, dependent on government handouts, demanding more reward for less effort, etc. But Barnum had it right a long time ago: There's a sucker born every minute. All you have to do is make promises. Actually fulfilling your promises is no longer considered necessary among the pathologically altruistic class that comprises much of the democrat party loyalists. Well, maybe there are now many suckers born every minute, because people have too much time on their hands "chasing their dream" instead of working for a living or raising children in a family environment.
Our Beta leftist populist candidate Graham Platner turned out to have some bugs, but we’ll adjust the algorithm, do a fresh VC funding round, and be out with a new model for 2028. ~ Dan Moraff, Leanne Fan, and Morris Katz
Nothing new. Look up "The Candidate" from 1972. Peter Boyle plays exactly the same kind of operator. Only he wins, because his candidate is Robert Redford.
Rabel--the waterfront properties will skew the averages pretty substantially. But it appears that the median is more like $500K and rising, so your point is well taken.
---- "So, what's the upside for them in publishing this lady's political cri de coeur"

The Times is trying to obscure their direct role in suppressing the original news on Platner's amours. Now they are throwing a small sop to those disappointed when it backfired. Just the phoniest of baloney.
"A Face In The Crowd" is a better comparison.
If she's old enough, she would have had her kneepads on for Bill Clinton, too. And Ted Kennedy.
Unenrolled voters (those not registered as either Democrat or Republican) were allowed to vote in either party primary this year, and they did. "Unenrolled voters are factoring into the party primaries in ways never before seen — and those voters chose Democratic ballots by a 3-to-1 margin," the Portland Press Herald reported. Democrats are going to need those independent voters in November. I hope the party finds a way to include them as it selects its new candidate.
Pottery studio sounds like a husband-subsidized business. Such endeavors don’t do well when the couple splits up.

Who cares that some women grieve their abusers.
Does anybody wonder if she'll still vote for whatever Democrat nominee is put on the ballot? Of course she will. The unasked questions, they drive me nuts.
Oh, so your business is a pottery studio? That's great. So....how come you're parked at a hiking trail in the middle of the day? Describe your working week. Describe why you're 'living in a house you can't afford', what that means, how you've concluded that.
Somewhere in there, you'll begin to hear all the grievances aired.
Women like these want to socialize their problems as a way of getting them fixed - by someone else, preferably by a system that doesn't require thanks or gratitude, or present any reason that forces them to examine their choices, critically.
"Cory Upton-Cosulich sat in a parked car by a hiking trail in Maine this week, fuming over the implosion of Graham Platner’s Senate campaign."
Sounds like the opening of a Stephen King story.
“ Several women said they recognized Mr. Platner’s swaggering style from men in their lives who had hurt them. They supported him anyway...."
Because they know they can change him.
Mike (MJB Wolf) said...
"Poor democrat me why does this keep happening to me."
This?
""Cory Upton-Cosulich sat in a parked car by a hiking trail in Maine this week, fuming over the implosion of Graham Platner’s Senate campaign."
It's a real-life example of the internet meme- an AWFL crying in her car, saying "Our Democrat governor is destroying my state. I'm done. Next time, I'm voting for a different Democrat."
I wish to note here- no supporter of Trump, male or female, believes E. Jean Carroll's story. Nor do we believe any of the other stories that have appeared. Including the one lady who says she has tapes- TAPES!- that will drive Trump from office. So- why doesn't she show up on a podcast or national television show and play them? Easy answer- because she doesn't have them.
Now, is Trump a womanizer, however you want to define it? Well, the answer is obviously yes. But he also appears to be able to take "No." for answer. "No.", not "No!" or "NO!!" or even "𝑵𝑶!", bur just a plain old "No." When you're rich, the answer is often "Yes." even when it shouldn't be, but that's another issue entirely.
ALl of Trumps, and Kavanaugh's, accusers have no contemporary backup for their stories from the time when they happened. Of course, the liar E. Jean Carroll suffers further from she doesn't even have a time when it happened.
Platner's accusers told friends. Clinton's accuser had a stained blue dress with DNA- and Paula Jones told contemporaries at the time. And supporters of Clinton sound just exactly like this lady- "She said she believed the woman who had accused Mr. Platner.... She decided to support him anyway, because he had promised to work on her behalf, and she believed him..." Bill Clinton had a big advantage other Democrat pols taken down by accusers never had and don't have today- the Bimbo Eruption Team headed by Hillary Clinton with a goal of absolutely destroying all those worthless bimbos.
Let me ask the question: If Monday 13th comes and goes, and Platner has not withdrawn from his candidacy, what are the choices for the Democrats? If he decides to stay on the ballot, will Democrats fund his campaign, and resume providing it with support services, polling, logistics, national press coverage, etc? What are their options? They can't kick him out on the 13th, correct?
This article relies on interviews with 6 women, one of whom said Platner had lost her support. Also mentioned in the article, a poll before the latest rape accusation, had Platner with 52% of the female vote. 52% of the female vote, more likely to vote Democrat is not a great endorsement. Internal polling, which is much more realistic must have pegged the percentage as lower. Chances are likely this is a bs article.
"Of course, the liar E. Jean Carroll suffers further from she doesn't even have a time when it happened."
What she suffers from is that with a person like Trump, there's almost certainly going to be records of some sort that show where he was and when, so making up a date is a good way to get your fake story shot down.
So- she went with "I don't remember".
Down with The Patriarchy! Long live The Patriarchy!
The latest NYT poll (which I think is the one cited in the article)
June 2026
Women: Platner 52% – Collins 44%
Men: Collins 52% – Platner 45%
Overall: Platner 49% – Collins 47% (±4.8%)
Collins always does better than her polling numbers show and this was before the latest accusations.
What the motivations were to pull Platner, we’ll never know.
Support was cratering or Democrat leaders wanted to send the DSA a message or a combination of the 2 or there were more serious accusations coming, who knows. But it boggles the mind that this guy was a candidate for US Senate.
RCOCEAN II: "The only way to get the D's establishment's attention is to vote 3rd party."
The better way is to win the primary and then the general election.
Whether it’s Chuck Schumer picking a 78-year-old with bad polling numbers to run for Senate in Maine or DSA randos picking a drunk Nazi rapist to run for Senate in Maine, both sides chose poor candidates.
Aggie--I don't think that the Dems can legally deprive Platner of the nomination. It would make an interesting lawsuit. Obviously they can withhold funding and support, but (I presume) they can't run anybody else as the Democrat nominee.
The lameness of his tearful video about how the (unnamed and unspecified) "powers that be" have used "untrue" allegations (none of which he specified) to deny him the chance to fight the good fight, coupled with the Podhoretz revelation that Morris Katz and the other "consultants" get 15% of the funds raised, tells my spidey sense that Platner planned to bow out a long time ago, and has either negotiated a buyout and is making sure he gets paid, or is still negotiating. The guy is slick, I will give him that.
Stock up on popcorn for the weekend!
I've seen rumors that the whole purpose of the Platner candidacy, is to allow the DSA to torpedo the DNC and advance the party takeover. If Platner doesn't withdraw, the DNC will be forced into making sure he loses, potentially for survival reasons. And the DSA will ride that horse right up to election day, trumpeting how the DNC is making themselves obsolete by not supporting their own candidate.
If he's a real manly commie, he has no choice but continue.
Survivor of abuse says she supports man who promises to do better from now on. That sounds about right.
The weirdest thing about Maine is,
1. They don't like to be told what to do so they do the classic cut off their nose to spite their face (ala the power line issue from 2021.)
2. Mainers have and are being largely replaced by the same people that ruined the southern new england states.
The entire seaward side of 95 from Bar Harbor to Kittery is as democratic as any solid blue state. They should just start calling it Down Blue.
I hope Platner forgets. Or... what happens if he is in an accident and can't withdraw?
I mean, we all know. "Your honor, Despite Mr. Platner's vehement denials we all know he cannot continue as the duly elected nominee of the Democrat party. Thus, we ask you to strike his name and substitute Chuck Schumer, as the only possible choice. And while you are at it, since this might mean Democrats lose the seat, can you just declare Sen. Schumer the victor over Susan Collins? The voters don't need to be consulted!"
--Sincerely, Inga, Freder, LICE, IEEE, DDD., and every other Democrat.
And I posted that first without checking, but if you check your self and her linkedin, Cory Upton-Cosulich is originally from Massachusetts.
"We became emotionally attached to a charismatic candidate who expressed standard progressive positions in a manner we found unusually authentic. We continued to support him through repeated warning signs, and we now resent losing the emotional experience attached to his candidacy." This is not flattering to the women profiled.
If E. Jean Carroll's story was about a Democrat, we could ALL find it ridiculous and dance on common ground. You Trump haters going to tell me you would buy her story if it was about Newsom or Biden? You didn't even believe the Monica Lewinsky story before the blue dress, and Bill was a known cad and abuser with an obsession for portable humidors.
If Platner stays in, the Dems will fund him, forget it all, and he will have a good chance at victory. The Dems do not really care about any of this, and once they have no choice, they will do what they have to do, and we can watch all these people spin back to where they were before the "surprise".
Repeal the 19th.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
The Establishment isn't going to support any reform that takes away their power and the Rightwing cant think past their money and guns.
The true lesson to be drawn from this is that there is a pretty sizable number of working-class men, in many cases union men and/or non-white men, who have quit voting Democrat because the party cannot break their white female addiction to banning any and all types of gun for which they can muster a 51% vote, no matter how infrequently used in crime, and making life as complicated and demonized for gun owners as they possibly can. If most gun bans are slapped down by the Supreme Court next term, as seems highly likely, the Democrats will benefit.
…we’re learning that Gillum the Democrats almost governor of Florida is and was a meth addict. How much more evidence does anyone need to conclude Democrats only install malleable bodies they can control? Whatever candidate you think they will install in Maine, if that person isn’t compromised in some way so the party leaders can control them, that person will not be installed

Thanks Captain Obvious. The Question what to do if you're populist against an Establishment that does literally anything and everything to make sure your voice is NOT heard.
The problem is you have dumbshits who support this or that, and say they are "mad as Hell". But their real No. 1 priority is supporting their team - no matter what.
You'll notice that neither the R nor the D establishment have that attitude. They will take a Loss rather than support a Populist.
But you go ahead and "Beat the other team at any cost" - even though by winning you get nothing.

"he had promised to work on her behalf, and she believed him..."
Herein lies the problem. There's a world history of leaders promising to help those who are poor, but they very rarely do. They become rich and more powerful instead. The whole liberation movement of the 20th century is built on manipulating the poor for the sake of wealth. Sadly, desperate people (whether really so or just self-perceiving) believe all such politicians.

**Peachy+2 said...The remedy is do ban all women from voting?**
It may be preferrable to just ban left-wing women from voting, but that seems unfair. What if we take gender out of the equation and just ban leftists from voting? They shouldn't mind--they don't like democracy anyway.
People who are on government benefits shouldn't be voting.
People who don't pay taxes shouldn't be voting.
Veterans net taxpayers, and employers are the only people who should be voting.
Have no fear, hopeless Maine proggies… a Convocation of Clowns will soon assemble and then tell you who - or what - to vote for.

“imperfect understanding of sexual boundaries”
I like that phrasing.
Someone breaks into your home, someone locks you in a bedroom: those are immediate 911 calls.
Which leads me to think that these situations were muddier and both parties had imperfect understandings of sexual boundaries.

“This woman is making a great argument for repealing the 19th Amendment.”
that’s 10:43 AM
If a separate vote was taken by men and by women, which sex would vote the most to deny the other the right to vote?
Men already gave women the vote. Would they have done the same for men? Would the votes go differently today than they would have 100 years ago?

Technically, he never said the word "women".
Thanks Aggie. She couldn't be yoga or pilates. Definitely crafts. Grew up in Concord MA and lived in Beverly, MA, both 70% D.
I think there is decent chance women would deny men the vote today. Not by a large margin, but I could be wrong. I think men would reaffirm the 19th.
Technically he said, “I never said anything about women.”
The 19th amendment is “about women.”
Never mind voting. I find it interesting that at no time in history have women ever proactively requested to be included in a military draft. Russian women came close in the Great Patriotic War, but we're talking about the 1% of the 1% of 1% that volunteered.
"The entire seaward side of 95 from Bar Harbor to Kittery is as democratic as any solid blue state. They should just start calling it Down Blue."

Where did I mention the 19th amendment?
Do they hand out stupid candy to you people? Learn to read.
You aren't doing women any favors here making them look like shrieking insecure stupid losers.

I am always consistent that stupid men should be left out of voting too.
Whatever you do Cory, learn nothing.
MAGA made the same calculations on their much-loved candidate, but unlike MAGA, the democratic socialists of Maine won’t still have the hand on their pussy 10 years later.
“I supported him with trepidation,” said Kat Higgins, 64, a retired nurse,..."
“We were all fired up,” said Nettie Nelson, 77,..."
"Joan Merriam, 79, a lifelong Democrat"....
An unfortunate thing has been happening in my brain lately. I'll meet a middle-aged white woman on my walks around the neighborhood and we'll exchange pleasantries, but unbidden to my thoughts appears the question "Is she a nutjob?"
In my neighborhood, there's a good chance the answer is 'yes'.
Grew up in Concord MA
I was wondering that, Maine has been overrun with massholes. Confession: I grew up in Lincoln, sandwiched between Lexington and Concord. That was when the area was Republican (I Like Ike, also Rocky Marciano and the Red Socks).
“I am always consistent that stupid men should be left out of voting too.”
But that would only be you. Too small a subset.
“Where did I mention the 19th amendment?”
per the above comment: 12/17/25
as just one example
"what to do if you're populist against an Establishment that does literally anything and everything to make sure your voice is NOT heard."
The populism is secondary to the fact that the party establishment thinks the candidate will lose the general election.
Voting or creating a third party, as RCOCEAN II wants, will be no more effective than the Green and Libertarian parties have been. You need to win over a major party by demonstrating the policies will win a majority of voters.

The Democrats are still the party of slavery.
"survivor of abuse"
boy, that's a very vague term
Several women said they recognized Mr. Platner’s swaggering style from men in their lives who had hurt them. They supported him anyway...
I do not believe this journalism. Women are masochists and vote for their abusers. That's the implication. I call bullshit on this journalist innuendo.
Okay, so two women accused Graham Platner. One of them is active in Republican politics. She accused Platner of having an SS tattoo. True! She also accused him of a variety of non-crimes. Grabbing her by the arm once. Pushing her into the bedroom and closing the door on her and holding her in. You could argue the latter was some sort of misdemeanor, but she didn't press charges. She also now says that Platner would pull off his condom while they were having sex, without her knowledge.
I believe her, 100%. The man is a shit.
Ironically, it's the Democrat victim who has gone way further, and is now using the word "rape" to describe the last time she had sex with Platner. It's a much more serious charge. It's also far less certain. There's no way I believe her 100%. I don't believe him, either. They are both liars.
So now in the NYT, there's this Democrat voter who believes he's a rapist, and she wants to send him to the Senate.
What's wrong with you? Rapists to prison.
If you believe Platner's a rapist, then he's a liar, too. Did you get that part? It's like her socialist mind and her feminist mind are having a civil war in her brain. Ugh.
“imperfect understanding of sexual boundaries”
I like that phrasing.
That's exactly right.
Someone breaks into your home, someone locks you in a bedroom: those are immediate 911 calls. Which leads me to think that these situations were muddier and both parties had imperfect understandings of sexual boundaries.
Also, alcohol was involved.
Hardly shocking that throngs of women voters make decisions that are not in their best interest. Remember when the Wife said this: "Vote for my Husband, he's a Genius." Well, that did it, if she says he's a Genius, they have no choice but to pull the lever. What gets me is that Fool promised to lower gas prices. If these women were stupid enough to believe that any politician in the history of gas can lower gas prices, there's no help for them.
I knew a very nice, excellent at her job (I would hire her), pleasant ... eternally single woman who was so proud she slept with an elderly Ted Kennedy that she had a picture painted of it to hang over her bed.
I've been a Blue Dog (centrist, would be GOP in other states) Democrat and now very serious conservative Catholic and social conservative in my state. With the exception of the young AFP Ken Doll pseudo-libertarians, I have had a totally diferent experience as a conservative. The men are both far more bemusedly chivalrous and gracious, and also far more respectful of my experience and intelligence. I'll never be mistaken for a southern woman: they are just powerhouses. I love being around the old Birchers and Eagle Forum ladies, the Baptists (who enjoy a good Papist joke but are nothing but respectful of my faith, as I watch in wonder at the evangelicals' pure faith. I love Georgia (since my car died in Atlanta in 1988): I miss NY in the Seventies when I was a kid, but you couldn't pay me to go back.
I would go back to the mid-Seventies, though. I think we all would. Except the hair. 1976 was a time I recall as real unity. Was I wrong?
Has Stephen King weighed in on this?
