Deploying the TR precedent to promote fighting at the White House.

The video, from UFC, quotes from Theodore Roosevelt's idea of "the man in the arena." I've put up the full text of it in the past — here — but it's worth having at your fingertips today, as Trump celebrates his 80th birthday. Does this describe Trump?

Well....OK, but Teddy also lost sight in one of his eyes from one of those matches, and frequently swum naked in the Potomac, exhorting others to do the same (some of whom did, feeling the pressure). It's something I would discourage today, not least because of the state of the waters, there - or rather, the state of the sewage pipes, upstream.

Anyway, a clever promotion and I hope it goes well, even if it's not my style. I think Trump would like to believe this describes him, but really I think it more accurately describes Teddy and his ethos.

Trump is taking on the most powerful evil force in history and he is lucky to be alive. They tried to kill him multiple times and a bullet they shot at him came within a millimeter of killing him.

And Trump is winning all around the world.

I've known only two quiet, older trans people: neither harm ex-wives or deprive their children of a father. One dressed like a man to visit his adult children at holidays. For another, much less important but topical example of where I think the President erred was allowing his name to be placed on the Kennedy Center which just gave libtard artists an excuse to not honor performance agreements and leave the venue empty.
However, I don't emphatically disagree with that man in that arena, especially not after he has been proven right so many times, and faces immediate resistance from Democrat Party shitheads even as he does impartially good deeds like clean up the decaying monuments and fountains of Washington DC.

First of all - there are generally 2 men in the arena (unless he's up against an animal). So we can conceptualize a good guy and a bad guy. (Of course I know that's a gross oversimplification and generally not remotely accurate - but we're talking about how the left see things here.) So even if Trump is the man in the arena, and I think he clearly is, he's not necessarily the good guy.

That being said: I agree with Michael Fitzgerald that there is simply nothing he's done that warrants the sheer, unexamined, unadulterated hated he inspires in his opponents.

There are plenty of vulgar people in the world. Plenty of crass people. Plenty of corrupt people - we just were governed by one, or rather, by the corrupt people who held his limp strings, for the for years previous to this administration. Even plenty of unpunished criminals - which I don't think Trump is, or the left would've succeeded in getting him into that jumpsuit by now, given all their advantages in the courts, the legal profession, and the court of public opinion.

I conclude that they've just decided that this is their strategy against Republicans (especially apostate Democrats turned Republicans, like Trump) from here on out. If, in the remaining twenty or thirty years I hope I have of life, there's a Republican presidential candidate who is not immediately slandered by the left as "worse than Hitler" et cetera, I'll have been demonstrated to be wrong. But they've been doing it since W Bush (I am told it's actually since Eisenhower but I have not confirmed that for myself), and no candidate has been spared, so I'm going with the exposed pattern here.

When you have the facts on your side, pound on the facts. The law: pound on the law. Neither: pound on the table. And the Nazis.
