Rotisserie chicken is sold by most supermarkets as a "loss leader." It provides basic protein to build reasonably healthy meals around. It is precisely the sort of food that SNAP benefits are intended to support. I suspect that the exclusion of hot meals is so that the beneficiaries aren't using SNAP benefits to buy fast food. Sensible legislation. Who knew?
I remember Fetterman saying Biden was just fine after his debate meltdown. He’s just your average lying politician. As for the chicken I imagine most SNAP recipients can’t afford a Costco membership.

Uhr, many grocery stores sell rotisserie chickens, and you can get all the meat (not just the breasts and thighs) and make a delicious chicken soup really cheaply that will feed a family for multiple meals. Of course, you can always buy a whole, uncooked chicken and cook it yourself, but it might actually cost more than the pre-cooked rotisserie one.
A hot rotisserie chicken for 8.99 or whatever they cost is way better than spending nine bucks on frozen pizzas and microwavable burritos. Common sense, people.
If you can afford a Costco membership there is about 2.5lbs of meat on their $4.99 rotisserie chicken. And it's delicious. The bones are well seasoned to make homemade chicken broth.
What about bottled hot water for dehydrated babies?
Where I live the grocery store chicken is around 8. Compared to $4.99 for a larger Costco bird. I don’t think it’s a loss leader at the grocery
Also, a rotisserie chicken is often cheaper than a fresh chicken. As a taxpayer, I like this but let's also remove raw uncooked chicken as an option.

Typically that's the case because the rotisserie chicken is closer to its expiration date than the fresh ones. Better to cook it - and sell at a discount - than have it go bad and get nothing.
I'm all in. I'm already looking forward to my Government Approved and paid for Hot Rotisserie Chicken. I hope my supplemental has plans to incorporate it into our new benefit package.

I don’t have a problem with SNAP recipients buying some prepared foods (not fast food, but if they can buy a frozen pizza, why not a hot chicken?), but this is a regulatory change that should be beneath the attention of a senator.

Babies under 6 months shouldn't be given water. Ones that are 6 months to a year should only be given a small amount - a couple of ounces. They really should be getting all of the hydration they need from breast milk or formula.

You dont need a Costco membership. Walmart sells a rotisserie chicken for 6.99$. ( and $3.99 for yesterday's chicken!) It's cheaper than raw chicken, ready to eat. It can feed a family of 4 for several meals ( or a teen boy for one.) Just the thing for a family in need.
