Amazon has banned Raspail's Novel - "Camp of the Saints" after its sold 20,000 plus copies and been there for over 9 months. No suprise - the novel is against open borders and replacing the Native French. Doubt Billionaire Bezos or his uber wealthy CEO like any book attacking immigration.
Of course, Rod Dreher pushes back against amazon in the most tepid, worthless way possible. No defense of intellectual freedom or attacks on the Establishment stifling opposing views. Instead its "How can they ban Camp of the Saints when they sell Mein Kampf"?
Which makes you wonder if Rod would be OK with banning Raspail's novel if Amazon would ban Mein Kampf.
The FBI is corrupt to its core. Do you think that the people who tip off reporters ahead of pre-dawn raids are decent humans? Or the people who staged documents in “Top Secret” folders at Mar a Lago, or those who sat on Hunter Biden’s laptop, or the Peter Strzoks and Chris Wrays of the bureau? The whole rotten edifice should be burned to the ground — which is what Patel seemed poised to do before his institutional capture.

I don't think Iran is going to change its strategy until IRGC Commander Maj. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi is gone. How he has managed to keep his head intact is a remarkable feat - he's the architect and iron fist that keeps the IRGC going, and for now, they are the one in control of the real estate. The negotiators can talk all they want, they can take any position. Vahidi ain't going anywhere, and until he's gone, the IRGC will carry on. Public Enemy #1.

Tim Cook to Step Down as Apple Names New CEO ~ WSJ
When Tim Cook took over from Steve Jobs in 2011, a lot of people wondered whether anyone could possibly fill that role. Jobs was such an outsized figure, and the shadow he left behind was enormous. But looking back now, Cook’s achievement was remarkable in a different way. He did not try to be Jobs. Instead, he took the powerful products and ideas Jobs had built, strengthened them, and turned Apple into a far more stable, balanced, and sustainable business. In particular, he helped build a services foundation that made Apple less dependent on the ups and downs of hardware cycles alone. That is a real and lasting accomplishment.
Now the question shifts to what comes next under John Ternus. Apple is still standing on an exceptionally strong base, but the world around it is changing fast, especially with AI reshaping both hardware and services. Apple is no longer the young, hungry disruptor it once was, while innovation outside the company is accelerating. That means the next leader may face a different challenge from Cook’s: not preserving Apple, but deciding how boldly it is willing to reinvent itself again.
I'm watching the goldfish in my pond. Recall, I bought them from a pet store, that sold them by the dozen, as food for other, more interesting pets. They were maybe 3/4" long. But I took the plastic bag full of water in which they were sold to me, and dumped it into my pond.
Now, there are 8 of them. The biggest ones are 6", and the littlest are 3"-4", so I am guessing the little ones are 2nd generation. But here's the thing; they swim around in a pack. And sometimes, they thrash around to where they send waves across the whole pond. They get over in the shallows, and pile up on each other., and thrash their tails around, til somebody slides off into the deep, and everybody else goes after him. Or her, who knows?
Anyway. What these goldfish are doing is called "playing grabass". They are amusing themselves by interacting with each other. They probably have friends, and cliques, and some whole complicated social order, in that ten thousand gallon pond. I do not believe that they are genetic automatons, mindlessly pursuing their own evolutionary interests. I think they are enjoying themselves.

If you tossed in another dozen, would they be accepted by existing, or form their own gang?
Trump sees the U.S. presidency as a means to further enrich himself and his cronies. Trump's vision of the national interest does not exist. He only sees his own short-term interest.
Back in January, Trump and the U.S. military were able to execute a highly profitable raid of Venezuela. The cost to U.S. taxpayers for a months long naval siege likely ran into the billions of dollars. However, for Trump and his cronies the operation was likely all net profit.
In the background of this, Netanyahu has made multiple trips to the U.S. since Trump's election in an effort to lobby for war with Iran. Netanyahu was reportedly able to convince Trump in early February that regime change with Iran would be relatively cheap, quick and easy. Trump almost certainly saw the Iran operation as even more lucrative as the Venezuela operation with much greater upside.
That calculation ended up being completely wrong.
As far as Trump's supporters go, most will approve whatever Trump does as long as it doesn't cost them anything. The people who are deeply invested in foreign policy are a minority of Trump's voting base, and fall into three main camps. The first camp, which dominates this administration, are the neo-conservatives. These people love war, especially wars in the Middle East. The second camp, includes "China Hawks". Many of these people wanted Trump and the U.S. to refocus on China and pivot away from the Middle East. The third group are "restrainers" who tend to be less hawkish, but tend to overlap sometimes with the China Hawks. The last two groups were effectively marginalized over the past year. The voices that Trump hears now are almost entirely neo-conservatives, which is how we ended up with the current policy, and why Trump is having such a hard time extricating himself from his war.

The challenge for Trump is he has to figure out a way to end this without looking like a loser. He continues with his well worn path of saying one thing today, something else tomorrow, assuring everyone it's all ending soon, then threatening mass destruction. Trump's bluster means nothing to the Mullahs.
Tump's ego cannot accommodate the reality of the very significant strategic setback he has incurred with his war. For Iran’s theocracy, the conflict is existential, but for Trump it’s psychologically existential.
Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez DeRemer has joined Kristi Noem, Pam Bondi, and Susan Monarez as female cabinet-level officials resigning under pressure or outright fired. The stories of her abuse of position, if true, are disgusting.
