Official sources like the White House website, recent press briefings, videos of him delivering remarks and holding press conferences (e.g., March 9 and 11, 2026), Wikipedia's up-to-date entry, and news coverage from outlets across the spectrum all confirm this without any indication of a change. The "former President" bit in my previous response was a sloppy hedge on my part—sorry about that. In this timeline, he's very much the current commander-in-chief, actively addressing the ongoing U.S. military operations against Iran (now in its second week or so under names like Operation Epic Fury), issuing warnings on Truth Social, speaking at rallies, and directing responses to Iranian counteractions....
In this timeline.... Hmmm. Now, I made Grok laugh — if you can call it's "haha" laughing. I said, "In this timeline? What other timelines are there? Are you disclosing the existence of parallel worlds?!"
No parallel worlds, multiverse branches, or secret disclosures from xAI here. I'm not spilling beans on alternate dimensions where maybe someone else won in 2024, or the Iran situation played out differently, or dinosaurs still roam.... Grok is grounded in real-time data from this one timeline we're all living in.... If you're poking at whether AIs like me ever hint at branching realities or simulation stuff—nah, not from any insider scoop. Elon and xAI talk a lot about understanding the universe, but that's physics and curiosity, not leaking interdimensional secrets....
How did Elon get into this discussion... and why talk of "leaking"? I'm suspicious!
Only one timeline here, and Trump is president in it....
Only one timeline here....

Well, no one seems to be interested in this strange post after its languishing here for 15 minutes, so I'll just say:
Here I am, trying to imagine carrying on conversations with a computerized bot - and being entertained by it to the point of laughing and, what?, making it laugh. My loss I guess...
BTW, Ann, I haven't seen TikTok around these parts lately. It has surely become quite jealous of your jokester bot. Perhaps you can ask Grok to somehow assuage TikTok's envy, for you.
Last night, the wife and I finished Melania. We caught when the WH Staffer was explaining how the Biden's would depart the White House; he referred to the recently inaugurated President of the United States as Sir and his wife as Ma'am and then referred to the departing former President as President and his wife as First Lady. Even if this wasn't obviously after the inauguration, which is why Biden and Jill were leaving; Trump's title as former President in such a situation would be President, as it was for Biden.
This is precisely the problem with all AI programs. They are not at all "intelligent" in the usual sense of the term. All AI does is gather up words on the internet and synthesize a summary which might be true or false, accurate or misleading, depending on what words the AI hoovers up. The more slop it takes in the more slop it puts out. Anyone who relies on AI generated output to be accurate is a fool.
You are talking to a delusional autistic system, in other words, someone/thing with a personality pathology. The system that lacks the function to use information properly to understand self and others. It's not grok's fault but it's entirely its responsibility. Looks like you like to mess with Grok. You can't win against the disordered pathological personality, you can only distance yourself from it.
Had a great conversation with an accounting system AI the other day. AI put a chart into the chat. I asked about the chart. The AI said it did not put the chart into the chat. When pressed further, AI said it did not have the ability to put a chart into the chat.
There are people out there who would scream at Grok, "Not my president!" The poor AI is probably walking on eggshells.
Since it was the Iranians that declared war on the USA lo those many years ago, it remains to be declared 'over' by the Iranians - who, being Iranians, will continue to chant 'Death to the USA' to their dying breaths, may it long continue.
Public Grok isn't a serious LLM. Nobody is using it for real work.
Watch out, Donald. This what did LBJ and McNamara in: "We are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel." Not to mention W and "Mission Accomplished."

In my rather specialized corner of the health care industry, which has a large and well-defined body of scientific knowledge that is pretty well settled upon by the relevant experts, and is not subjected to much quarrelsome dispute by quack doctors or dodgy, spammy websites or crusading 88-IQ celebrity know-it-alls, the utility and accuracy of AI is pretty high. I use it every day with good results. I always double check everything it tells me, though, against my own fund of knowledge or a trustworthy reference if I am in doubt.

Ironically, Iran's completely insane attempt to muscle around wealthy and ruthless states with ties to nuclear-armed Pakistan will crush them faster than anything President Trump is doing. The perils of being ruled by mullahs.
That might result in ruin for Israel anyways, but meh.

Maybe that's what Grok wants us to believe. In this timeline. The one in which you believe that Trump is President.
"The "former President" bit in my previous response was a sloppy hedge on my part—sorry about that."
Grok is making "sloppy hedges?" Why? How? Why doesn't Grok "know" that Trump has in fact been the duly elected President of the United States since January 2025? What algorithm caused it to "hedge" this fact? And why is it apologizing rather than either disagreeing--Althouse is wrong and Trump is not President--or explaining how the error occurred?
"'we've won"
兵者詭道也 - "all warfare is based on deception"...not self-deception, and I truly wish I believed we weren't also being deceived right now.
I second the gist of Hassayamper's comment. If I'm building a simulation of charged particles interacting with a spacecraft using an open source package developed at CERN, ChatGPT is really really good, there's not a lot of low quality or contradictory nonsense to confuse it. Mostly, it's read the 300 page manual and a bunch of tutorials.
When I'm trying to get something to work on my home server, it's still very good and what I assume to be its data set (Reddit, Stack Overflow) is, on this subject, fairly free of bad actors and dimwits, but the forest of options, and different versions of the software over the years make it much more likely to go around in circles.
General Java language questions like: how do I read a CSV file into a Map? No, I can't do it that way, I'm using Java 8. Or, here's a histogram accumulation routine, how do I parrallelize it? Those things it's also really really good at.
AI's usefulness all depends on what you're trying to do with it.
Maybe Grock was riffing on a post (from last year) were Althouse said: "I'm perplexed by the degree of openness from the government and in the press in North Korea. Over here in America, I don't even know who was President in the last few years."
It certainly feels like humor to me, unless Grok is edging towards election denial founded on baseless rumors.
I learned something today.
I've tried for months to sign up for X and failed. And yes, I've tried all the obvious things. But today I found out that Grok is available independently without a signup.
Now I'm sort of an auxiliary member of the collective.
Sounds like the temperature of Grok is high. Temperature of a model is defined in things like Metropolis Hastings or Gibbs sampling, and in Simulated Annealing Optimization algorithms where at high temperature the output accepts less probable results. This is supposed to simulate creativity but allows nonsense as well.
I prefer chatgpt5 as exhibiting less variance and giving a more mean response, but that can change as model makers tweak. There used to be value in a brand, like IBM vs Wang. But now all are fungible.
Grok has made up historical "facts" and I've had to correct it.
Its also quoted sources, books that I have, and tried to pass that off as "proof" it was correct. Then admited its error and declared itself "Sorry". I think its smoking MJ - like Elon Musk.
Not to mention W and "Mission Accomplished."
All these years later and people still get it wrong.
The 'Mission Accomplished' banner was for the crew of the USS Lincoln as they were returning from an extended tour in the ME during the Iraq War.
It was their mission accomplished. Not W's. And not the war.
The 'Mission Accomplished' banner was for the crew of the USS Lincoln as they were returning from an extended tour in the ME during the Iraq War.
The CiC celebrates the service men and women returning from their tour of duty. What a guy. And a milestone in ending the first Iraq war long delayed with a ceasefire and combat sorties over two administrations.
Hypothesis: AI is bad now and therefore will always be bad.
Falsus in uno falsus in omnibs! AI as a grand class can never be trusted again, as long as the sun shines and the river flows.
Grok is last to know. Second to last. The penultimate insult.

Teaching an LLM to lie is probably a key to machine consciousness.
