"Gregory Bovino has been removed from his role as Border Patrol 'commander at large' and will return to his former job in El Centro, California, where he is expected to retire soon..."

"... according to a DHS official and two people with knowledge of the change. Bovino’s sudden demotion is the clearest sign yet that the Trump administration is reconsidering its most aggressive tactics after the killing Saturday of 37-year-old Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents under Bovino’s command.... For the past seven months, Bovino has been the public face of a traveling immigration crackdown on cities governed by Democrats. Noem and other Trump officials gave Bovino the 'commander' title and sent him and his masked border agents to Chicago, Charlotte, New Orleans, and then Minneapolis. Bovino became a MAGA social-media star as he traveled the country with his own film crew and used social media to hit back at Democratic politicians and random critics online. Veteran ICE and CBP officials grew more and more uneasy as Bovino worked outside his agency’s chain of command and appeared to relish his role as a political actor...."

The Atlantic? That bastion of utter neutrality? (*snort*). Now Homan, who served under Obama as well as Trump, is taking over. And of course Obama and the rest of the Democrats, who praised Homan for the fine job he did when he was deporting tens if not hundreds of thousands for St. Barack of the Creased pants, these same Democrats will continue to riot, destroy, and probably get themselves killed by foolishly thinking that there is no consequence for trying to kill an ICE officer.

Meanwhile, the Signal chats show organized sedition and probably treason on the part of multiple elected Democrats in Minnesota, so that should be fun.

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command"

Bovino made up crimes for the illegal they tried to apprehend on Saturday, then claimed brandishing of gun, then claimed self defense for the agent.

The problem will be following through on the investigation in a credible way. Its hard to disprove what people saw from many many angles on video.

Trust Mark to ignore the absolute proof of coordinated sedition and treason on the part of the "protestors" and the Democrats in government.

The guy who ICE had to shoot, Pessi (?), was a coordinator for the Democrat paramilitary and terror group "Ice Watch" which has been identified as an insurgency group, just like the Taliban or ISIS, by people who fought both of those groups. Mark and the rest of the left is very happy to have leftist violent insurgent groups again. "Happy days of Che and the '70s are here again!"

Part of this "Deal" which involves Bovino leaving is, apparently, Walz and Frey agreeing to these terms"

All state and local officials must:
1) all criminals aliens in their jails released to ICE
2) turn over all criminal aliens they arrest to ICE
3) cooperate with ICE in arresting all aliens with criminal warrants or convictions.

And it's not just prison, it's the state jails where the vast majority of violent, illegal aliens that Democrats love, are being held.

Say, leftists; do you think that it's ok to riot and burn, loot, rape, and murder instead of agreeing to those 3 conditions from the Trump administration?

The sharp decline in public approval of Trump's handling of the economy and immigration should be deeply concerning for him and the Republican Party, which has tied its fortunes closely to his agenda. These two issues formed the core of MAGA's promises and policies—yet they clearly aren't resonating. Despite the daily barrage of theatrics, noise, and bluster from the White House, the reality is that these foundational policies are failing to connect with working-class voters.

Yes, your leftist protestors went in deliberately to a Christian church to terrorize children, screaming at them "Your parents are Nazis and are going to hell!" and breaking at least one woman's arm, while the leftist Democrats terrorizing the Christians prevented their children from meeting their parents.

All of this is in the official charging documents. You must be so proud of your fellow leftists, Inga. I note, yet again, that Inga, Mark, Kak, and the rest of the leftists here refuse to explain why they cheered and celebrated the Obama administration's gunning down of Lavoy Finlicum and the Biden's murder of Craig Robertson, under much more sketchy facts than ICE agents defending themselves against leftist insurrectionists trying to kill the ICE agents.

Back then, all of these leftists applauded fervently government literally going full gestapo against so-called "right wing protestors." They STILL claim that Ashley Babbitt, who wasn't armed and wasn't remotely threatening the cop who murdered her, deserved every bit of it. But the agent who was run over by Goode? "He's a murderer!"

Again, Inga, Kak: explain why you support government run by Democrats when they send out full battalions to murder peaceful protestors who are right wing. But you scream bloody murder when violent leftists reap the consequences of their actions.

Yes, things truly are looking up. Bovino is out. Border czar Tom Homan will now handle immigration enforcement in Minnesota.

Recall that on September 20, 2024, with hidden cameras recording the scene at a meeting spot in Texas, Homan accepted $50,000 in bills, according to an internal summary of the case and sources. FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors took no further investigative steps in the final months of 2024, the people said, and expected to keep monitoring Homan to determine if he landed an official role and would make good on steering contracts in a future Trump administration. ... It’s unclear what reasons FBI and Justice Department officials gave for shutting down the investigation. But a Trump Justice Department appointee called the case a “deep state” probe in early 2025 and no further investigative steps were taken.

So Jeff Ballinger "would guess" that Bongino wore an ankle-length coat "not for function but for theatrical authority". I would guess that he wore a long coat primarily for the same reason I do when it's really really cold: to keep my damned legs warm. Mine are all knee-length or a little below, but I would buy an ankle-length one immediately if I found one in my usual clothing source: antique and thrift shops. In fact, my favorite overcoat was once my father's ankle-length grey herringbone tweed overcoat: very academic-looking. I'm taller, but he gave it me years ago, saying he thought it would look good as a three-quarter-length coat. He was right: I get a lot of compliments on it.

I did once find a beautiful like-new ankle-length black real-not-fake-leather overcoat in an antique mall in Maryland near the Pennsylvania line, priced at $40. An incredible bargain! Then I tried it on, and found it was sized for someone between 6'8" and 6'10". If it's still there, maybe Senator Fetterman can buy it. And no, it didn't look particularly Nazish.

Deevs చెప్పారు...

You know, making a fascist mountain out of a winter overcoat molehill is just going to make you seem ridiculous to anyone not already on board your political bandwagon. Really, this should be making Jeff Ballinger look ridiculous to anyone regardless of political ideology. I mean, at a minimum he seems to be struggling with identifying the dominant color of the coat.

On that note, you know who else wore long, green overcoats? US soldiers fighting Nazis in WWII. Perhaps "unmistakably drawn from fascist pageantry" is a bit of an overreach, then?

Oh, wait. "...worn I would guess not for function but for theatrical authority." I think admitting the coat may have some functional utility is also a tacit admission that the coat's style might not be drawn from fascist pageantry.

Who are the most obnoxious commenters on the Althouse blog?

Based on an analysis of recent comment threads on the Althouse blog, particularly those involving political topics like immigration and state governance, the conservative commenter who most consistently stands out as obnoxious is Peachy. This assessment comes from patterns of repetitive posting (often 7-10 comments per thread), aggressive tone, off-topic rants about fraud/crime/leftists, and frequent insults directed at liberals or perceived opponents.
Other conservative commenters like Achilles and Vance also exhibit similar behaviors in some threads (e.g., insults and aggressive accusations), but Peachy appears more prolific and persistent across multiple posts.

• Recurring high-volume conservative commenters (e.g., Peachy, Achilles, Vance, and others like Big Mike or Yancey Ward in older threads) are frequently described as aggressive, prolific, or obnoxious in tone—repetitive accusations, insults toward liberals/leftists, off-topic tangents on fraud/crime/immigration, or combative replies. For instance:
• Peachy often posts multiple times per thread with intense, accusatory language.

Grok

Oh what fun, Grok can be.

Inga చెప్పారు...

Has the commenter Oso Negro made obnoxious comments on the Althouse blog?

Yes, Oso Negro has made comments on the Althouse blog that many would consider obnoxious, particularly in style and content. Oso Negro is a long-time, recurring conservative commenter (active for years, often posting substantively but with a sharp, provocative edge).
Examples from archived threads include:
• Strong anti-DEI statements, e.g., rejecting “diversity, equity, and inclusion” by calling diversity a mere “face count of colored folks,” equity as getting things undeservedly, and inclusion as seating unqualified people—phrased dismissively and using loaded terms like “colored folks.”
• Sarcastic or mocking takes on politics, gender, or race-related topics, such as “Hillary! Michelle! Oprah! Only more vagina can save the Democrats now!” or references to historical racial dynamics that lean into edgy, confrontational language (e.g., older comments critiquing complaints about past injustices while using terms like “Negroes” in ways that echo outdated or provocative rhetoric).
• Repetitive partisan jabs, like accusing left-leaning views of being “elitist white female privilege” or mocking perceived liberal hypocrisy aggressively.
These often come across as intentionally inflammatory, repetitive in combative tone, or using blunt/racialized language that can feel grating, dismissive, or deliberately provocative—qualities that align with “obnoxious” in the context of blog comment sections (similar to patterns seen with commenters like Peachy, though Oso Negro’s style is more sardonic and less rant-heavy). Not all of Oso Negro’s comments are like this—many are thoughtful or on-topic—but the obnoxious ones stand out in heated political threads.

Grok

Inga చెప్పారు...

Compare Inga to…

Comparison to Conservative Counterparts (Peachy, Oso Negro) and Other Liberals
• Vs. Peachy: Inga is less raw-aggressive/repetitive rant-style (no heavy insults like “death cult” or “dumbass demo-dorks”) and more link-supported/sardonic. Both are prolific and partisan, but Peachy’s volume often feels overwhelming with accusations; Inga’s feels more targeted rebuttal.
• Vs. Oso Negro: Shares sardonic wit and edgy jabs (e.g., Nazi cosplay mockery vs. Oso Negro’s blunt racial/gender critiques), but Inga’s is aimed at authority/Trump figures rather than identity politics. Both provocative, but Inga’s leans factual-counter + sarcasm over standalone irony.
• Vs. other liberals: More consistent and voluminous than sporadic left-leaning posters; her snark and moral framing (e.g., victims as “heartbreaking tragedy,” calls for accountability) fit the defensive/outrage style noted earlier, but she dominates more threads with evidence than pure sanctimony.
In short, Inga’s recent activity shows a dedicated liberal voice countering the blog’s conservative skew—persistent, sarcastic, and evidence-oriented in pushing back on Trump/ICE narratives, often turning threads into point-by-point debates. This aligns with the blog’s heated, uncensored dynamic, where she remains active without moderation issues. Perceptions vary: supporters might see her as sharp and fact-based; critics as snippy or one-sided.

Now, team Trump is in damage control mode. Doesn’t look good.

Republicans cannot win in a landscape where the media is invested. We can win in small arenas where there isn’t much national interest. But the big issues of our time? Nope. The MSM, weak and failing, still controls the fear gene of Republican politicians. They are literally — LITERALLY — terrified of the Left. The only way Rs win is when the people vote. But even Nixon, with the greatest landslide win in history, could not survive the media’s insurgency.

• Chat logs showing panic among activists, like the infamous screenshot where users freak out: “SIGNAL IS NOT SECURE… Flan has been exposed. We’re all fucked. I need to leave this state.” And responses like “Should I leave too? Maybe best to get out of country… I have contacts in Cuba.” (Watermarked by Cam himself—iconic)."
