"A judge in Georgia dismissed the last pending criminal prosecution against President Trump on Wednesday..."

"... effectively ending efforts to hold him criminally responsible for attempts to overturn the 2020 election.... A motion seeking to end the prosecution was filed Wednesday morning by Pete Skandalakis, the executive director of the state’s nonpartisan prosecutor council. The case was once seen as one of the most serious legal threats to Mr. Trump, because state criminal convictions are not subject to presidential pardons. Mr. Skandalakis... shredded the case originally brought by Fani T. Willis.... He asserted that 'it is not illegal to question or challenge election results.'... He added that the idea of pursuing a case against a sitting president in Georgia was impractical...."

From "Judge Dismisses Georgia Election Interference Case Against Trump/The president has now seen three criminal cases against him dissolve since he was re-elected last year" (NYT).

This was the case that produced the magnificent mugshot that Trump has from the start used to his advantage.

The judge is totally wrong in this. It absolutely is illegal to challenge election results if you’re a Republican.

No, it does not. Also, the people who lost time, capital, and their lives.

Shouldn't have given us an update on the pleasure-filled travails of this case's Porgy and Bess? Where old Nathan (Wade) rescues old Bess (Fani) from the clutches of Crown and Sportin' Life (i.e., the evil white system trying to keep these fine-upstadning colored folks down).

WhoKnew বলেছেন...

Hannio: Perfect! This is exactly right, it is perfectly legal to question or challenge election results. It would be nice if this put an end to the era of lawfare but I'm afraid that it is too late.

As these cases go away in other states, Wisconsin and the Jim Troupis prosecution might be the final one left standing.

How is this an "activist judge," Howard? Did he invent or acquiesce to a "novel legal theory"? Did he claim broader jurisdiction than he has?

I always like to note in these faux election theft posts that AlGore attempted to steal the 2000 election. As the NY Times itself had to admit after exhaustive investigation, the ONLY method of counting votes which could result in an AlGore win in Florida in 2000 was the one and only one his lawyers proposed and argued to have implemented. THAT was attempted theft of a presidential election.

What Trump did was say, during a phone call about vote counts, that he needed 11k votes found in order to win, while the postelection vote counts and recounts were underway.

And if Georgia wants to have people believe their vote counts are NOT corrupt, I would suggest they never pull any BS moves like they did in the vote counts in 2020.

Actually, this is the same Judge that accepted the original novel legal theory that Fani Willis brought. And isn't it interesting that despite the NYT headline, they never actually mentioned Judge Scott McAfee by name? You would think, with a headline like that, they would at least mention his name, even if they don't explain that it is the same Judge that presided over the case this entire time.

Are the walls still closing in? Are the walls reversing? In a holding pattern until January 2029? I would bet the latter.

The Commies hate Trump so much they will want to put him behind bars even as a private citizen.

If I had to bet, I would say that in 2029 the Democrats will rehabilitate Trump and invite him to all the parties and say how evil Vance is, and how he should be nice like Trump. It worked for Bush.

Since we are very likely only about 13 months away from a Democratic House voting to impeach Trump for the 3rd time, with the Seditious Six trolling even as we write for another Vindeman, I wouldn't get too excited about their past failures. The Democrats are as hopeful as Wiley E. Coyote.

Real, veteran, moderate prosecutor Skandalakis, and real, brilliant defense attorney Steve Sadow, versus Fani Willis and her crew of buffoons. I didn't always agree with both men, but they are normal adults, and normalcy won. How far we have fallen with Fani and her ilk. But it's a delight to see 2,000 plus Times commenters pee themselves in the the comment thread and will now pout and make asses of themselves this Thanksgiving.
