There is a pretty darn good essay making the rounds, on Feminization.
I'm sure some here have already read it.
..."It’s sad that English departments are all feminized now, but most people’s daily lives are unaffected by it. Other fields matter more. You might not be a journalist, but you live in a country where what gets written in The New York Times determines what is publicly accepted as the truth. If the Times becomes a place where in-group consensus can suppress unpopular facts (more so than it already does), that affects every citizen.
The field that frightens me most is the law......"
Feminization isn't the problem. Its leftism. And always has been. The English Departments have been crap for a long time. The barbarians were let inside the gates along time ago.
"My comments have been deleted. I feel really bad about that. I have been a fan, and daily reader, for 8 years."
Sometimes Google deletes them as "spam" although a lot of the. time, point of view seems to come into it, but then Althouse usually clears the spam filter and restores them.
Today Don Lemon publicly advised “black and brown people” to legally acquire firearms so thst if an ICE agent knocks in their doors they can shoot them. It would be great if lefties would drop the violent rhetoric, but absent a serious jail term (away from cameras and microphones!) for Lemon and others trying the “let’s you and him fight to the death” ideation I don’t think today’s talking heads are going to stop.
"There is a pretty darn good essay making the rounds, on Feminization."
From the essay:
"Women can sue their bosses for running a workplace that feels like a fraternity house, but men can’t sue when their workplace feels like a Montessori kindergarten."
Lonejustice is what you get when someone spends two years predicting politics and literally gets every single prediction wrong. The bitterness results in ridiculously lame attempts at mockery. A person with more self-respect would have either admitted he got it all it wrong and apologize or simply slink away and never comment again.
Women don't innovate or lead. They manage and follow. Of course, I'm generalizing. I shouldn't have to say that, but hey..its the internet.
There have been great, or least very good, women artists and writers. But they have never created new art forms or start new schools of thought. They can be CEO's but rarely start new companies. They follow rules and enforce them, but they don't create the rules. When the chips are down, no one -even women - wants to follow a women leader.
So its absurd to blame them for the current state of the world or the colleges. Or whatever. Why are women a majority in this or that College area of study? I dunno. You tell me. And evidently, men aren't too upset about it. Which indicates, that no really cares and its not an important area of power, status, or wealth.
My suspicision (sic) is that people don't want to fight the real cause of our current problems. Is it Leftism, or something else? Anyway, its not women. That's just a dodge.
I can tell you from personal experience, the phenomenon is real. I've always been an operations person, project oriented, results oriented, running 24 hour operations sometimes spending $1 million per day, toward the end of my career. When you meet with an executive team in a boardroom to discuss a problem, the women executives want cooperation and demand that their opinions are heard, even when they lack the slightest clue of any technical insight that might be an actual contribution. They really don't want to solve problems - they just want to be heard. It's like that old comical video skit of the woman with a nail in her head. I finally hit on the gentle solution of getting the problems fixed ahead of time, because it was easier to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. I think it only became really clear to them when we once had a medical emergency evacuation from an offshore construction vessel that was working for us. About 5 of us (men) got together, organized a chopper, a medical team, and an ambulance and had it all rolling in about 20 minutes, pilot on the way at 1 am. By the time of that morning meeting, the appendix was already being taken out, and the executives didn't really know why they were getting calls from the contracting company thanking them.
Robert B Parker wrote a Spencer mystery novel aclled Hush Money in which a black conservative professor is denied tenure because he is conservative. The denial for his politics is covered up by the circulation of a rumor that he is gay and was insensitive leading to a suicide which causes the denial of tenure. It's a pretty interesting book on the some of the same themes which this feminization theory is covering. And it was published in 1999 showing that the problem has existed for a long time.
2025 Cameo I forgot the title of the book while writing this comment and tried to get it from Insider so I wouldn't have to get up and look on the bookshelves. Insider denied the book existed. When I got the book and told Insider I was holding it in my hand, copyright 1999, Insider allowed that that was " a strong clue" that the book existed. But there was much left to do. Physical reality didn't match Insiders' training data and it was evident that Insider thought reality was wrong, not the training data. I needed to provide the publisher and title page details and much more. I broke contact at that point.
For some reason AI which is really great on technical issues is abysmally incompetent when it comes to literature.
I once listened in as a female friend participated in a depatment conference call of half a dozen senior staff (no one had actually been in to the office for a couple of years).
Only one guy participating. I don't know what issue had sparked the need for this meeting. All they talked about was making sure everyone was included before any decisions were made. Just when you thought they were about to decide something, someone would say, "I'd really feel more comfortable if we knew what Marilyn thought about this. I beleive she's due back from vacay in a week or two."
This government organization has the power to levy giant fines and bring affected industries to a halt.
I once tried to explain the diffreence between management and leadership. We were arguing about Sec War dressing down all the generals. I think a light came on when I pointed out what happens when managers prepare for and fight wars. You get Robert S. McNamara and almost 60,000 names on a granite gash in the ground.
Is any liberal willing to acknowledge Donald Trump has been the first president to truly care about incarcerated people? If Democrats were serious about criminal justice reform, they would nominate a convicted felon to be their party’s presidential nominee.
Here is the context of his statements: Targeting Federal Agents: Liddy specifically told his listeners that if agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) came to "disarm you and they are bearing arms, resist them with arms". "Head Shots": Because federal agents wear bulletproof vests, Liddy advised: "Go for a head shot; they're going to be wearing bulletproof vests. ... Head shots, head shots. ... Kill the sons of bitches". He later suggested shooting twice to the body (center of gravity) and then the groin area if the head shot was too difficult. "Jack-booted" vs. "Thugs": The phrase "jack-booted government thugs" was famously used by the National Rifle Association (NRA) executive vice president Wayne LaPierre in a fundraising letter around the same time period (mid-1990s), not by Liddy directly in the context of the shooting instructions. However, Liddy did refer to federal agents as "thugs". Self-Defense Context: Liddy defended his comments by saying he was merely restating the law regarding self-defense, arguing that individuals have the right to defend themselves if law enforcement officers are in the wrong and using deadly force without proper identification or cause, a situation he claimed occurred often with the ATF.
My federal case that I will be appealing to the 8th Circuit is about racial discrimination. I think I have a good chance of winning. And if I do, the defendant might seek review by the Supreme Court. And SCOTUS might even take the case. Yes, I know the numbers but it is possible.
It is both thrilling and somewhat frightening to think my case might be decided by SCOTUS.
Good luck, Dave. My freshman college roommate argued a case before SCOTUS and won 9-0. This caused Congress to clarified the law and his client was still denied the access to the information he was seeking. While an empty victory, my friend did get to go toe to toe with Scalia.
I continue to follow on Instagram a group that’s recording every Beatles song; one per day, alphabetically. And this morning I heard a song I’d never listened to: ‘She Said She Said’.
It’s a great tune, and I’m shocked I missed it, but it was the last song on side one of ‘Revolver’. I guess I kept going back to the start of that album and never made it through the side. lol
I dunno. Back to the best and the brightest. Who can remember, but I think McNamara's lament was he provided too much leadership and not enough management.
In 1995, G. Gordon Liddy's radio show was highly popular and considered one of the most listened-to syndicated talk shows in the United States, reaching an audience of approximately 8 million listeners. Key aspects of its popularity included: Widespread Syndication: The show, originating from WJFK in Virginia, was nationally syndicated by Radio America and carried by hundreds of radio stations, covering nearly 200 markets nationwide. Controversial Content: Liddy was a leading figure in the emerging conservative talk radio landscape and generated significant attention and publicity with his provocative and often controversial comments, particularly regarding gun control and federal agents. For example, in 1995, he drew criticism and national headlines for advising listeners on how to shoot federal agents (aim for the head, or the body/groin area if the head was too difficult a target). Shock Jock Persona: Liddy was branded as a "shock jock" alongside hosts like Howard Stern and Don Imus, using a brash, aggressive style that appealed to a specific audience and contributed to the show's high ratings. Awards Recognition: In May 1995, Liddy was named the winner of the 1995 Freedom of Speech Award by the National Association of Radio Talk Show Hosts, a testament to his prominence within the industry, despite the controversy surrounding his statements at the time. Significant Influence: His show was a cornerstone of the burgeoning conservative media ecosystem and was recognized for its ability to energize the Republican base, with GOP leaders actively engaging with talk show hosts like Liddy to push their agenda.
Just saw Althouse's photos of the Madison No Kings rally in the previous thread. They should win the Pulitzer. Like that iconic photo of that napalm burned girl in the Vietnam War, they show the utter horror that the American left imagine they are experiencing under America's current king. How can they not be enraged and filled with murderous thoughts as they stroll with their latte grandes?
. Gordon Liddy served prison time on one occasion, for his role as the mastermind of the Watergate break-in and the preceding burglary of Daniel Ellsberg's psychiatrist's office. He was convicted in 1973 on multiple charges, including conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wiretapping, and was sentenced to a term of up to 20 years in prison, along with an additional 18 months for contempt of Congress for refusing to testify. His sentence was later commuted by President Jimmy Carter to eight years, and he was released on parole after serving a total of nearly four and a half years (52 months) in federal prison. During his single period of incarceration, he was transferred between nine different federal prisons, largely due to his uncooperative attitude.
lonejustice posted his thoughts in an earlier thread on getting the hostages back. He thought it was a bad deal as Israel traded too many imprisoned terrorists to get their hostages back.
Liddy was my hero at the time. Why? He refused to rat out his co-conspirators.
Many in the Nixon (Republican) administration went to the pokey. Note that no other administration since has had that many go to jail. Until Trump (Republican) that is. Notice a trend here?
LaPierre's rhetoric in the fund-raising letter circa Ruby Ridge and Waco, the phrase "jack-booted thugs" enter the political lexicon when used by--Democrat Rep. John Dingell (a strong 2A supporter)--unlike his wife who took over the seat.
I too wish that Israel hadn't had to give up as many murderous Hamas prisoners in order to get the hostages back, but I understand in principle what motivates the Israelis to do that, and I'm SO glad they did indeed get the hostages back.
How they prevent more hostage-taking, I don't know, given that they are at least comparatively a free and open society. But at this moment, with no Israeli hostages in Hamas hands, I'm assuming Israel feels no compunctions about whatever they have to do next (since apparently Hamas has already broken the ceasefire) to secure the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity.
PSU football continues its downward spiral losing to Iowa. Head Coach James Franklin was canned prior to the Iowa loss. My school was considered a preseason contender for the national championship. My son sent me the following comment:
“He did what you can’t do in any profession.
He gave his bosses the list of things he believed he needed from them to succeed (money for better facilities, money to keep current players, money to give his OC a raise to stop him from leaving for an HC job, then steal away your rivals DC and make him the highest paid coordinator in the country). His requests cost the university and boosters a fortune. They spent that fortune at his requests and his assertion that the payoff would be worth the massive investment.

The sort of things dems did as a matter of course for fidelofacts and other spook heavy shops
lonejustice posted his thoughts in an earlier thread on getting the hostages back. He thought it was a bad deal as Israel traded too many imprisoned terrorists to get their hostages back.
I read spooks by jim hougan i know the score
I wonder if this is the notorious "No Name Given" who was given a CDL license, *with* a RealID stamp, driving this truck:

Wisconsin did have back to back Rose Bowl wins. They beat UCLA 38-31 in 1999 and Stanford 17-9 in 2000.
Then he fell flat on his face.”

All of these protests/ protestors across the country, and the King just smiles. Some King.
’Then he fell flat on his face.’
His moniker of ‘Big Game James’ should have been a clue.
@Jamie
That was the only value of the prisoners. Back on the streets, they are now targets that can be disposed of as necessary.
