Said JK Rowling, at X.
Words are not violence. When you pretend that views that oppose your own are violence, you are justifying the use of actual violence towards the speaker.

The Left is every good at coming up with the right language to clothe its despicable beliefs in. "Silence is violence" "Words are violence". "Your words are hurtful to me". "We need to protect people from hurtful language".
Always play on the dumb 'murican desire to be "nice".
And of course the other side is too stupid to come up with a good response. Usually its just "Toughen up snowflake". Which is just a tough guy pose dislike by women. Its not a response.
I am half British and have been an Anglophile for a long time. The Brits have recently disappointed me regarding their attitudes about speech.
Thank God that they have a sane voice in JK Rowling.
even Hogwarts didn't come up with such ridiculous things, her other series (Robert Galbraith) does broach some of the madness,
Dogma is dogma. It works only for those inside a religion or ideology -- such as compliant followers and impressionable children who never go beyond simple concepts.
Cartoons. Don't look too hard or the engineering and science falls apart.
That quote attributed to Hitler seemed too perfect to be real, but it's actually from his big hit book.
Conflating violence and speech has been a tactic by the left since the Social Justice Movement took flight.
NOTE: Also lookout for the word "safety" when deployed in a debate that does not involve actual safety as a topic.
I.e., "Your speech is violence and our violence is speech."
"...you are so lacking in self-awareness you cannot see that you are precisely what you pretend to hate."
Again, you can explain something to someone for the billionth time, but you can't understand it for them. A trillionth time will do no better, so why keep trying.
Perhaps the deafeningly loud gunpowder-powered electric polka will have better results. We don't do things over and over again expecting different results.
We're not insane like them.
She's right.
The shocker - at least to me - is that so-called educated people are on the other side of this issue.
We're not insane like them.
Not insane. Dishonest.
I embrace the healing power of "and"...
Oh, boy, she's in for it now.

if Voldemort was running a political faction, would he do anything different, than those in charge in the UK
Our Constitution is a social contract. That means we all need to enter into agreement with each other and abide by the contract.
We can never forget the foundations of the Constitution or any social contract. We stood victorious on the field of battle and we told the Monarch of England to gtfo. Then we looked around and asked everyone if they had a problem with that.
We first had to deal with the people who had a problem with that.
The negotiations where we formed the Constitution and came to all of the compromises only happened after the people who were incompatible with a free country i.e. the loyalists were suppressed.
We cannot have a First Amendment when their are people who do not believe in the First Amendment and use it as a weapon against us around.

I apologize but to respectfully disagree I believe that they are entirely rational and making conscious decisions.
the Constitution is not a suicide pact, as much as they try to do so, the UK doesn't have one, it has sublet it's sovereignty to the European Court of Human Rights,

Do you not understand just how unique the anglosphere social contracts are in history?
The people on the other side of the issue are no different than the rulers of 90% of the world and every other nation state in history.
They are the norm and we are the unexpected deviation.
Another day, another of Keir Starmer's cabinet and the Labour Party sees another resignation of one of it's members after it is revealed they are a leftist pedophile associated with Jeffery Epstein.
Has anyone told Kak/Richsockpuppet/paidActbluetroll and (D)Inga yet that we have found the Epstein list and it's all full ofl UK Labour US Democrat leftists? They keep posting trollspam- I mean, they keep inquiring, so someone should probably tell them...

They really really really really really really hate that she's got a voice they can't shut up and a reach they can't shut down. It's the reason for the reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeing.
Both the Tories and Labor have been co-opted by the same tiny cabal of WEF globalists, leaving both the working class left, and traditional conservatives without political representation in the UK. The Tories cleared the deck for Labor to take over with untrammeled power, apparently deliberately. They look for divisive issues to keep the lumpenproletariat divided against itself so that they can continue to rule.
You want to know what is going on? Don't watch the news. It's just there to confuse you, and by repetition, it will corrupt your understanding of the world. Read history. Doesn't matter what period, this stuff happens over and over again.
Strange thing is.. even on CNN I don't see news stories of the 'far right' attacking trans people? Where are these stories? Surely the MSM would bring them to the front pages if true.
Has Rowling been awarded anything yet by Her or His Majesty? I see she has an OBE, but I don't think it rises to the level of knighthood, the top of 5 distinctions. For her service to the Enlightenment, it should though.
It was only an accident of birth that kept the pedophile "Prince Andrew," from being king, BTW.
The UK government has their priorities so mixed up. Maybe Trump can explain it to Charles.
Step 1: Put JK Rowling in charge.
Step 2: Get those guys with the horses, bagpipes and furry hats back here.
Step 3: Set them to knocking government heads together until they get the message.

Pederast.
"accident of birth"
And that, fellow citizens, is why we Brexited before it was cool.
Begley's on your side,
but representative government has been the outlier in millenia of human history, the Greeks and the Romans for perhaps 500 years then Council of 300 and the Empire, and then thousands of years later, we have the Anglosaxon experiment,

The problem with this is that Rowling is a feminist and she is directly responsible for the trans issues society is now facing.
Feminists and women in general overwhelmingly vote for the people who implement trans ideology.
When women’s suffrage was the issue of the day most women opposed it. Why do you think that was the case?
Putting someone like Rowling in charge would not solve the root of the problem. It would exacerbate it.
this is something Spengler, Toynbee and Bagott Glubb all agree on, but the differences are stark as to why,

The influencers dress up Critical Theory in pretty little infographics and pretend that it's critical thinking.
"... and you are so lacking in self-awareness you cannot see that you are precisely what you pretend to hate."
I sense a 'self-awareness' theme today. First, Sonia Sotomayor, now the purveyors of transmadness.
JK Rowling speaks for me.
The left are so deluded in their BS - they cannot even look at facts. True in the UK - True here in the US.
Charlie Kirk's assassin was leftist. He was brainwashed on Social Media/ REDDIT in his basement.
robinson makes the 9th shooter in three years, I sense a pattern and it's not nonviolence,
Speaking basic truths to the left -> 'hurts them"
Look at the behavior of the local leftists. It's all the same.
Critical Thinking Cheat sheet from Wabisabi Learning. The first question is "Who benefits from this?" That's a question you can't ask, or answer, without a proper investigation into the facts.
The Highwaymen was a supergroup of Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Kris (Do any need last names?) and I recently downloaded a great concert at Nassau Coliseum in 1992 https://youtu.be/DbfV7b-RAEY?feature=shared (Full of commercials but if you download it, the ads are stripped out)
One of Johnny Cash's hits was a spoken song about "The ragged old flag" that I always find kind of moving.
In the intro, Johnny says something like he is proud of the 1st Amendment which gives people the right to burn the flag.
Then he says he is also proud of the 2nd Amendment and that "If you burn my flag, I'll shoot you." He goes on "But I'll do it with a lot of love like a good American"
The crowd whooped and hollered their support.
I wonder what would happen if he said that this week?

This is why there is no hope for leftists.

Not to disagree with you but their lack of a Constitution goes way back. For all their claims of having a Constitution, they have never had one, just a series of traditions, practices, court precedents, customs and so on that change daily.
Bagehot wrote a second edition of his History of the English Constitution just a few years after the first. In the intro, he say he had to do so because the information in the 1st edition had been completely superceded and no longer reflected reality.
People still hold Bagehot up as the definitive text on the British Constitution. It is certainly an interesting read. But it is history, relevant 150 years ago but not very relevant today.
Our Constitution may be subject to interpretation about what various articles, clauses and words mean. But the basic document is still there and is still upheld, at least in the abstract. And, for the most part, in reality.
It is a practical instruction manual, easily and quickly read and understood. Adaptable by amendment but not easily. For all this, it is very useful to have and the Brits would likely be better off if they had one.
John Henry
point taken but they could have done so with bagehot as a building block, they didn't in part because they began to adopt positive liberty, the whigs were perhaps the best disposed then the liberal,
OTOH, the Brits have a king with powers that would make Stalin blush with envy. That he does not openly use those powers most of the time does not mean they don't exist.
For example, suppose he called up the army, who swear personal loyalty to him in a FuherOath, to tamp down crime in Manchester.
Parliament might oppose that, but who is the army sworn to obey? He could even "prorogue" Parliament, sending them home. Any soldier or unit that failed to obey would be guilty of "Treason" under English law.
It is hard to reconcile this kind of power, potential or actually used, with a Constitution.
John Henry
Paul--I agree. Where is the evidence of trans persons (is it OK to use that phrase?) being physically attacked, beaten or even threatened?
In today's climate, anyone engaging in such conduct would be instantly doxxed, canceled, charged, imprisoned and convicted. And it would be front-page/leading news.
I cannot recall any publicized incident of the sort--at least in the last decade.
"Words are violence" is a call to silence, until one learn to speak the permitted words and not ones own words.
there isn't one its a hallucination

Lots of ways we veered off course but one way was that both of them ran for re-election on the slogan "He kept us out of war" (WW1 and WW1 part 2) all the while conniving with the Brits to get us into them.
All the while plotting to drag the US into the European quagmire. (116m deaths in 5 months of WW1). Not many in the US wanted any part of either, esp WW1. Most were immigrants or children of immigrants who had come to the US to escape stupid European charnel houses.
That WWI was at base a feud between cousins (King and Kaiser) did not endear it to the us population of Irish and Germans.
Neither war was any of our business and we should have steered well clear.
John Henry
not to mention Czar Nicholas, the Kingsman tried to make the thing somewhat of a dark comedy, with the same actor Tom Hollander playing the three monarchs, and they were manipulated by a rather ridiculous fellow,

Hear, hear…
Yes, Narciso,
Virtually all the European royals are and have always been related. In WWI, the Brit king, German kaiser, Russian Tsarina Wikipedia gives the following grandchildren (1st cousins) of Queen Vicky
British King George V
German Emperor Wilhelm II
Russian Empress Alexandra
Swedish Crown Princess Margaret
Queen Maud of Norway
Queen Sophia of Greece
Queen Marie of Romania and
Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain
Re Tom Hollander I'm going to have to see this movie. Just rewatched LeCarre's The Night Manager and he had a secondary part. Secondary but stole the show.

I'm not in any way excusing violence. I've heard allegations that some transvestites and/or transexuals have been beaten up when an aspiring sexual partner found out they weren't what they claimed. Most guys aren't happy if the "woman" they're trying to bed turns out to have a penis. Add to the shock that alcohol is often involved, further increasing the degree of anger. Not excusing this violence at all, but from what I've heard, this sometimes happens.
Just to complete my previous post, I've heard lesbians aren't too happy either when the "woman" they're trying to bed turns out to have a penis. Years ago, the line "I'm a lesbian trapped in a man's body was a joke. Today, it's the rallying cry of MtF transexuals, and they call any lesbian a TERF if they refuse to have sex with them.
Again "speech is violence" arose from the hate crimes industry. They are at the root of this evil. And yet even our side bows before these laws now.
Would aspirations to be royal adjacent explain Woodrow and Franklin
Rowling is a bit inconsistent on the subject of words inspiring violence, and then goes deep into Godwin’s law territory.
I just don't know where people would get that tranzpryznz and their allies might not be very stable. Just no clue.
You go girl! On "hate" speech, she's getting back to the old "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." That's not quite true--ask the young girl whose boyfriend tells her "It's over". Feelings can and do get hurt. But that is not physical violence.
she is directly responsible for the trans issues society is now facing.
She wrote a long tweet explaining her views on trans a week or two ago. She only seems to care about the invasion of AGP men in women's spaces, not the real and permanent damage the movement is doing to its participants, many if not most of them young women & girls. I don't believe she even mentioned the FtM.
Rowling is a feminist first, and will always be a feminist first.
"Your speech is violence and our violence is speech."
Also, there's no sex in your violence. At least in the past there was sex.
JK Rowling is an international treasure,
"Most guys aren't happy if the "woman" they're trying to bed turns out to have a penis. "
That's always been a deal breaker for me.
The Pickle Surprise isn't for everyone's tastes.
‘The function of propaganda is . . . not to weigh and ponder the rights of different people, but exclusively to emphasize the one right which it has set out to argue for. Its task is not to make an objective study of the truth, in so far as it favors the enemy, and then set it before the masses with academic fairness; its task is to serve our own right, always and unflinchingly.’
Yes. If Antifa et al. wants to smash fascism, before clogging up the streets they should smash all the mirrors.
The Brits were exploring the concept of intent determined by the listener, not the speaker, and the punishment of words the listener misapprehends, as far back as Monty Python's Flying Circus in 1968. One skit had famous writers standing around criticizing one of their kings (Chuck 1 or 2, IIRC) with epithets one after another such as, "Hearing his last speek was like like listening to a drunk pissing against the wall behind the pub." The King suddenly appears and asks just what the impudent writers meant by that obvious slurs, with a beheading promised if the King stays unhappy with them. "Why your majesty, I meant that hearing your words was like listening to a gurgling stream flowing down an apline meadow, made golden by the sunset!" The King is mollified by that. The King goes one to the next, getting ever more outrageous recantations of their slurs, until the final writer can't imagine how to correct his slur, and he just makes a raspberry noise and give the King two fingers up (in the British manner). A good skit. Pity it has become real life.
