I'm already tired of the Text Truthers. Talk about fringe theories. Either come out and say the FBI and cops are lying or state your interest in this germinating idea.
Hmm sounds like something a furry might prompt an LLM to come up with to divert blame maybe, my love.
"I am on the lamb."
I fell out of my chair. Then I heard "from the prying eyes of the fuzz."
And I died laughing. (Someone call the authorities before I end up like Gene Hackman.)
These were Discord gamers and seemingly into fantasy role play. This culture can involve reading a lot of fiction and writing (bad) fiction too. Then, they play act as they game. I'm betting that both the assassin and the wannabe woman Twiggs were in the fantasy mindset.
"Old man" the "Love" reference match bad fan fiction perfectly.
Isn't it remarkable how astute these twenty-somethings are compared to Matt Gutman?
Well, its obvious the convesation was "cleaned up" to include in a legal document. And "Old Man", that wasn't used when I was growing up in the 70s. But its Utah, so maybe.
LIked the 2nd one. But "Fuzz" is 60s and "On the lamb" sounds like 30s/40s. Rest is taken from 19th century prose, hence the "Ken burns civil war soundtrack".
Or is it "on the lam"?
Ok, I'll admit to ONE love letter to my (now) husband (them fairly new boyfriend) that I wrote in a character voice - he was... puzzled, to say the least. So I guess it's not entirely outside the realm of possibilities that this guy actually texted like this. But it still sounds phony.
The odd word choice makes it more likely they are authentic. A fake text would be more normal.
"on the lam"
Lol. Cheese it my love!
"I am on the lamb."
Those are auto-generated subtitles, so they're not indicative of stupidity in the person you are seeing. They're funny, but not a basis for laughing at the person.
Last night I wrote about how Marina Oswald's reluctance to provide evidence against her husband helped the FBI to conclude she had no foreknowledge of the assassination of JFK, and contrasted that with Lance Twiggs' apparently guileless cooperation with authorities. I went on to point out Twigg's lack of loyalty to Robinson made those investigators more suspicious of his complicity rather than less. Unfortunately, the algorithm dumped my comment immediately.
“On the lamb” is a Middle Eastern phrase that describes the males propensity for sex acts with beasts of teh cloven hoof.
I believe the word you meant is “lam”.
Matt Gutman is an inveterate liar, going back 13 years, when he covered up zimmerman's injuries, when he was at the police station, like Frances robles of the Herald who was promoted to the Times

I wrote an email to my future wife in the style of a Civil War solider writing home. She still has it somewhere.

I have no idea why these were included in the charging documents. There was no good reason for that.
These things should still be being investigated. You never tell people who you are investigating everything you know. This is so ridiculous.
Althouse writes, "They're funny, but not a basis for laughing at the person."
You concluded I was laughing at the girl with the quill for misspelling lam? I misspelled it as well. I had to look up the usage. Everyone here laughed at the pointed use of archaic gangster-speak as was intended by the girl with the quill.

He jumped. It is on video. It is actually quite impressive.
to his credit, Tater Stelter did acknowledge some details before he went to CNN, but much of this blue on blue activity is never properly reported, like the Pulse Shooting, he wasn't a lone wolf, he was an Al Queda and Islamic State connected figure whose father was an FBI informant under Mueller,
Robinson is cranked up on adrenaline and hunkered down somewhere waiting for the area to clear. He probably isn't thinking or texting the way he usually would. Like what's up with the rifle fixation? His old man's wrath seems like the least of his problems.
The roommate's responses sound like he's just a roommate.
Has anyone come up with a nefarious reason for fake texts?
he was quite calm when he walked through the neighborhood, as compared to say Oswald after the shooting, where he ran into officer Tippett, on the way to the bus top,

He wanted his partner to get the gun out of the bushes.
Achilles writes, "You never tell people who you are investigating everything you know."
Quite so. However, I'm confused by your assumption that the texts are "everything" or even a substantial portion of what the investigators know or strongly suspect. Apparently, you're a much more competent gumshoe than anyone working the case. If Tyler Robinson gets acquitted, we'll know why.
Many people can't handle the fact that truth is stranger than fiction. This young man managed to plan and execute a near professional level hit and almost got away with it. One can see his solid small town upbringing got twisted into a perverted and lethal code of honor. He seemed more concerned about others rather than himself. It all fits
"Has anyone come up with a nefarious reason for fake texts?"
Well, villains have been using lies to do their villainy and to escape the consequence for several weeks. It's a passing fad.
he was not a professional, more like Gavrilo Princip,
Pretty obvious that "text chain" was written by a middle-aged law enforcement officer, not a 20-something guy dating a trans woman. Word selections are military/law enforcement lingo. Full sentences are contrary to text messaging context. "My Old Man" is a boomer term, at best, have yet to hear any young adult use phrase.
Makings of a massive coverup appears in progress, with Robinson serving as convenient Oswald and Earl Ray "lone shooter" character to erase all indications of organized murder of a influential national political figure. Ditto for Butler shooter.
He's in his 20s and he calls himself a kid?
I discarded the idea these texts were genuine after I first read through them, because they're so stilted. My first thought was that the script was concocted by guilty parties to throw off the feds from casting a wider net. It didn't occur to me right away that the feds might have created them out of whole cloth. I think it's unlikely, but my opinion of the integrity of federal authorities isn't running at lifetime highs right now, either.
I do suspect there's a deeper trans-furry group complicity, because of all the recent radical violence originating from this group. I guess this will come to light, if true.
Unless you have previous texts to compare, you are just talking.
We are now in the time of nothing is real and everything is a lie.
Lam, lamb, what's the diff? He had to skedaddle.
You know, like scram, beat feet.
Twenty three skidoo!

Yeah, other than getting caught on security cams coming onto the property, so the cops could post pictures that led his father to convince him to turn himself in, and know what car he drove, and having them also find the gun because again, they could see from security cameras where he egressed the campus, very professional. Jeebus.
They was legging it…

And part of this inexplicable, massive coverup of a the assassination of a Trump supporter, that includes Trump lieutenants, they decided to make public the part they gave the least amount of cunning misdirection effort, handing the text-message-writing to middled-aged Phil from the K-9 unit?
Let's all just wait for the whole body of evidence before polluting the water further.

I was calling my dad “old man” when he was younger than I am now.
Didn't know the first part of Iman's comment, but "lamb" instead of "lam" is jarring to my eyes. Maybe I've read too many crime novels...
Seems like a basic lack of knowledge. Like so many other sayings that are routinely butchered. “For all intensive purposes”, a lack of proper English language use. I aks you, shouldn't they have known better? We need to nip this wrong usage in the butt! It's nerve-wrecking!

Shockingly self aware.
The ABC drooling love sick juro - added a word to the text.
My theory is this was planned, coordinated - and funded... by the dark assholes on the corrupt left.
I don’t believe it either. No twenty-something today is capable of writing a coherent sentence, much less getting the spelling and punctuation right, unless they run it through ChatGPT, as they did in school. Doubt he would bother with that.
“…a near professional level hit…”
The stereotype of a Tommy gun being used in “professional” mob hits partly came about because the shooters were such lousy shots that they kept having to use full automatics at close range to ensure the kill.

Professional?
Professional is a governor's son or a Journalist driving their car into something at 130 miles per hour.
This was standard FBI amateurism.
@Howard: "This young man managed to plan and execute a near professional level hit and almost got away with it."
No no no no no. Hitting human target at 140 yards from a rest with a scoped rifle is not at all difficult. I'd bet that 80% of the readers of this forum, to include inexperienced elderly and/or female ones, could do this on the first shot with 5 minutes of training.
Rifle accuracy is mainly about using a rest and staying focused. Don't flinch from recoil, and don't trying to shoot when standing up.
Walking along goofily with half the rifle shoved down his pants was not professional. Assembling a non-take down rifle with a screwdriver on a rooftop was not professional. Carrying it around in a towel/blanket was not professional. Leaving it in the bushes with handprints is not professional. Taking the (likely traceable) rifle from a family member was not professional. Writing ANY text messages was not profesional.
For starters.
its more like storm trooper aim, (which became a joke after the first act in Star wars,)
My boy tries to emulate the language of Runcimans "Crusades" (1951-54). He's a fan of the "Crusader Kings" video game. Whereupon he read Runciman. He says things like "my tax withholding is in the hands of the infidel".
Old Man is usually what the son says right before he challenges for dominance/independence was my understanding.
There eventually comes a point when you don't have to call him Father.
"...very professional. Jeebus."
Professional assassin. Aren't we allowing pulp fiction, the category rather than the movie, too much influence in our thinking? Professional assassins may exist, but they plan their crimes competently. To the professional, escape is paramount, not the kill. If the victim survives the first attempt, he can be attacked again, but only of the would-be killer escapes. Consider the history of professional assassinations. There isn't much to consider. That's because professionals are professional; they avoid the dramatic display. They prefer to kill in ways that allow them lots of time to escape. The rooftop rifle shot is the antithesis of professionalism.
narcisco writes, "[He] was quite calm when he walked through the neighborhood, as compared to say Oswald after the shooting, where he ran into officer Tippett, on the way to the bus [stop.]"
Robinson is exceptionally intelligent and possibility of a long-standing conspiracy exists, whereas Lee Harvey Oswald was a man of average intelligence whose paranoid personality made cooperation with others, even his wife, almost impossible, making him a poor choice as a conspirator.
Killing J.D. Tippit was an avoidable act of rage. Oswald was doomed to being caught. Shooting Kennedy from his place of employment -- arrest and conviction was as predictable as the sunrise. He had no plan of escape, no plan to dispose of the rifle. Robinson could have talked his way out of a similar confrontation, as could anyone else able to keep his cool, but not Lee Harvey Oswald.
actually evidence suggests he was on the way to a bus stop, which would have taken him farther into Dallas,to a safe house, this is Rob Baer's conjecture,
I would not make too many presumptions about the texting style. Odd twenty-somethings in odd relationships with trans participants may be more likely than the general population to engage in odd conversations. For the record, I occasionally have heard guys in my nephew's mid-twenties cohort refer to their dads as "my old man".
However, I was surprised by the first TikTokker's Happy Days reference. I'd be curious to know what percentage of people his age actually are familiar with that show.
Who calls their dad "old man"? Probably some palooka whose roommate identifies as a dame.
"Scripted" doesn't mean fake. I think it's entirely likely that Robinson and Tripp had gamed out a conversation that would throw sand into proving Tripp and others had previous knowledge of the plan to murder Kirk that would be put into effect if Robinson was unable to make a clean getaway. Anybody with interest in police procedurals would expect their text conversations would be examined.
why would tyler think this way, he saw how the last two Church school shooters were treated, and the other seven where whitewashed out of the picture,
A peculiarity of the age is that people can be highly connected and also very unconnected. You can be interacting on line all day long, and yet not actually interacting with other people. Modern media give and they take away, so yes, a 22 year old might refer to a parent as "my old man." Don't assume that a radically disconnected assassin (however young) would be up to speed on whatever the latest youth slang is.
Lol Tyler Robinson is being tried in Utah County. There's no way he's getting acquitted. I would say there's a 10% chance he isn't executed.
In my day we used large language models to generate alibis in the way our grandparents used to talk and pretended we were animals and wore dresses and cut our junk off and took hormones to make us into poor imitations of the opposite sex...which was the style at the time.
What I would need to conclude this was a scripted conversation designed to alibi the roommate:
(1) Complete time stamps with GMT
(2) Previous texts between the two for comparison.
Lacking that, it is just nothing more than speculation without real evidence. Yes, the conversation has a weird vibe in it that seems unnatural, however, shooting someone from a rooftop in front of thousands of witnesses is also weird and unusual and so the shooter is also going to be weird and unusual.
To paraphrase one of the funnier comments I read:
"How long have you been planning this?"
"Ah, yes, my love, let me set forth the facts establishing premeditation thusly..."
Delete all these texts!
"I graduated HS in 1975, and all guys referred to their dad as "old man," as in 'my old man will drive us.'"
Same here. Perfectly ordinary.
These Tik Tokkers don’t know any Mormons. They think every young person texts in ghetto-infused patois
Leif Garrett hasn't aged.
My son, currently an adult in the prime of his life, calls me "old man" whenever he is urging I go lift weights with him. It works.
Archduke Franz Ferdinand was killed by Gavrilo Princip, a 19-year-old Bosnian Serb student and member of the nationalist group Young Bosnia. And he only accomplished his murder because the open top touring car carrying the Duke stopped right in front of him, after previously failed attempts. As an aside, the gun used to kill the Duke was put in a museum a few years back, after having been in the possession of the priest who visited Princip in prison for decades. History! The gun used to assassinate Kirk should be put in the Smithsonian with a note that any idiot can shoot a gun, and this gun demonstrated that.
What this bullshit establishes is the stupidity of some young lefties. If they were older, it would establish some thing more sinister. Of course, the authenticity of the texts will be established at trial and the importance is the confession. These kids are training to be grownup Democrat liars.
The Military History Museum in Vienna has the historic jalopy on display--at least it was there in '78.
My brothers and I called my dad "The Old Man" when we were in our teens and he was about 40. He's a lot older now.
Growing up in my family "The Old Man" was my father's CO. If his CO heard that he would've been relieved. If I had called dad that I would've been smacked.
Oddly, the New York Times actually offered a fact-based, non-biased news story on the shooter's capture today.
I had to read it twice. But, good on them.
Jean Shepard of "Christmas Story" and other works semi-autobiographically calls his father "the old man." For example, where Ralphie heard "oh fudge (but I didn't say fudge)" was "from my old man at least 10 times a day."
@hombre: "What this bullshit establishes is the stupidity of some young lefties. If they were older, it would establish some thing more sinister."
Every civil war is different than the last. This one pits the stunted, malformed, twisted, and mentally ill against the sane. The sane have been taking losses per the presumption that the young "are doing okay," plus apathy about other people's feral children.
"I graduated HS in 1975, and all guys referred to their dad as "old man," as in 'my old man will drive us.'"
Same here. Perfectly ordinary.
I graduated a few years earlier than that and nobody I knew ever referred to their dad as 'my old man'. I suspect there might be some regional aspect to this, you know- like the difference between using "coke" or "soda" to describe a soft drink.
""Old man" the "Love" reference match bad fan fiction perfectly."
Reality is about to rear its ugly head. If it hasn't already.
Lance Twiggs should probably change his name.
Actually, he should have changed it as soon as he was legally able. His parents must have hated him at birth.
