What a devastating event, to discover breast cancer just before giving birth to your first child. I hope her recovery and reconstruction goes without a hitch. Don't know anything about her, because I don't watch Gutfeld, finding him extremely boring, obvious humor with zero insight, ugh.

Kat is strong and thoughtful. She has her own side gig as well as being the libertarian on the show. NYT folks wouldn't get it.

I guess if you were expecting a grownup article about a news host having breast cancer and surgery, you're outta luck. But I guess the NYT's audience is so vulgar and childish it has to be written in crayon.
Kimmel has already shed almost 70% of his minor ratings spike.
Apparently, everyone wanted to see if he would apologize, and when he didn't, dumped him and went to another streaming show. Now they are laughing at Disney chaining themselves to the soyboy verison of Rachel Zegler 2.0 and another $100mil tax write off. Lol!
Gutfield is not my cup of tea, but I enjoy Kat and Tyrus.
Gutfeld is a very funny guy, but he reuses the same jokes. If it's about obesity, cue Jerry Nadler or Chris Christie. The women of the view get called ugly or fat on every show. But an hour-long (or 42 minute long) show 5 times a week is going to need filler on slow news days.
"punchlines about women's bodies" are almost exclusively about the women on the view, and he makes fun of some men's bodies too.
Yes, a lot of Gutfield is repetitious, but he made a very salient point towards the end of last week. He ridicules people with fat jokes, etc. He does not demonize them. As he said, no one is going to shoot Jerry Nadler because Gutfeld calls him fat and implies he's incontinent.
However, when some of his counterparts on late night television are constantly on about fascist and evil. You do have to wonder at what point unstable people begin to take it seriously.
I will echo who ever said above that they enjoy Kat and Tyrus. They make the show's more thoughtful content. Gutfeld is capable of being thoughtful but I think he reserves that for The Five.
Considering the names and labels that have been applied mindlessly and ad nauseam to those on my side of the aisle for the past half century I have a difficult time manufacturing any sympathy for those on the left who are being skewered for their appearance or for the rumors circulating about them. It's not like anyone tunes in at 10 pm for 60 minute discussion of monetary policy. You won't get that with Kimmel or the other guy either. Mostly you see tongue baths of celebrities or acceptable politicians.
So long love Gutfeld. He may not be the funniest one of his program, but he's definitely the funniest one in the late night spots.
Greg Gutfeld is not a real comedian. Unlike comedians like Johnny Carson, Jay Leno, and Bill Maher, who made/make jokes about both political parties, Gutfeld refuses to ever make a joke about his own Trump side. True tribalism.

The Gutfeld phenomenon is interesting. He's smart, but I don't think he is particularly funny. I think a lot of his success is from being in the right place at the right time. I don't think he would do nearly as well if late night was more politically agnostic, like in the golden age of Carson. The fact is that he is the only non-Lefty nighttime host, so that's where conservatives go. It's the only safe space for them. Timpf and Cyrus help a lot, too.

Both Kat and Tyrus get a little tiresome at times (Tyrus especially, but Kat less so after her return), but the show is usually worth watching. IMHO.

An unusual aspect of Gutfeld's comedic shtick is that he's a dick. Kat and Tyrus are there to remind both Gutfeld and the audience that Gutfeld is a dick, and they do so all the time.
Needless to say, performers who are dicks in real life do not permit their second bananas to call them out as being dicks on stage. Johnny Carson, for example, was a dick in real life but never did Ed McMahon get to comment on it. Most of the newer late night hosts do not have second bananas so there's no chance of commentary on the host. So, the fact that Gutfeld tolerates his being called out so often probably means he really isn't a dick in real life.

I’m with Aggie on this. Unlike Aggie I do watch Gutfield now and again (my wife is borderline addicted) and IMAO Kat holds her own with some pretty strong personalities on that show, including Gutfeld himself. I wish her a long, happy, healthy life.
Apparently there’s been no announcement as to whether Timpf had the BRCA gene mutation that correlates so strongly with breast cancer, but the double mastectomy is suggestive. A close friend, an Ob/Gyn, discovered that she had the BRCA mutation and immediately scheduled a double mastectomy. She convinced her daughter to get tested, and sure enough, she had it too. The daughter elected to hold off on the mastectomy until after she was through making babies, and lost her gamble, but looks like she’s going to make it, thank God.
I think every woman owes it to herself and her family (or future family) to get tested for that damned BRCA mutation.
Not sure if she still is, given her medical issues, but Timpf was the head writer for the show. And during the show's first few years, Gutfeld used to mercilessly rib her as some kind of druggie slut. Fans encountering Kat out in the world would say "Greg should stop being so mean to you!" Timpf would then inform them that she wrote those jokes. CC, JSM
Kat is wonderful on the show. She is very chill and is not afraid to disagree with anyone.
Kat has often said (iirc) that her baby saved her life.

Somehow they missed the constant insults and ribbing of the men on the show for everything from looks, to career,, to intelligence, and he does it more than he does it to the women by far, but that's invisible to some.
What's unique and impressive about Gutfeld's show is no laugh track and no audience direction to laugh. When a joke misses you know it. I like that. It's uncomfortable for people used to the reliable laughs at the end of every sentence, which you get with almost all other comedy on TV. A lot of jokes miss, and they seem fine with that, which takes some guts.

Gutfeld's height or lack thereof is a constant source of jokes. Was there any mention of that? Not to mention that he's called a racist and sexist in bold type on nearly every show.

Trump jokes about Trump. Gutfeld doesn't have a problem joking about him either. Even his jokes about people he doesn't like usually aren't venomous. Smelly Nadler. Pelosi's eyebrows and botox. Biden's empty-headedness. Annoying if you're the butt of the joke, but not exactly assassination provoking.
"Tribalism" is an interesting word and thing. You can think of "tribes" as being in opposition to each other in a long struggle to the death, or you can think of "tribes" as groups or packs or niches that people fall into without necessarily wishing death on the other tribes.

Gutfeld is my only must watch TV. I hate when they take him off for "important" news, which results in another hour of the same thing they've repeated hourly for the last X hours. I think he and his panel could provide very human reactions to the events of the day.
A good percentage of her skewering Greg comes from her facial expressions when he says something ridiculous. Of course, that's part of his host duties: pose a questionable idea and let the panel shoot at it.
She has had a lot of health issues. She was out for a while with serious gastrointestinal problems, which are detailed in her book. She is a real libertarian, but she lives in the real world.
