Why have people been taking these texts at face value?

I can get close to it, but there is a squad car parked right by it. I think they already swept that spot, but I don't want to chance it. I'm wishing I had circled back and grabbed it as soon as I got to my vehicle. I'm worried what my old man would do if I didn't bring back Grandpa's rifle. IDEK if it had a serial number, but it wouldn't trace to me. I worry about prints. I had to leave it in a bush where I changed outfits. I might have to abandon it and hope they don't find prints."

Here's how this will play out, here's the meta-script, and please don't laugh it off.
How this all started is not how it will end. A broadcast license, from a limited supply, that the people give you as a special privilege, reposing trust and confidence in you, is not 'freedom of the press.'
In fact, it's hampering the expressive freedom of everyone who competed and lost for that license. It's giving you, ABC, a massive soapbox that the government's handcuffs and guns deny to all other speakers. A giant taxpayer-subsidized megaphone to drown out their speech.
ABC, you didn't build that. It's not a matter of your freedom. Perhaps there are some equal-protection arguments in the granting and revocation of broadcast licenses. But so are there in the granting and revocation of trash-collection licenses. ABC's licensing just happens to involve expression.
Kind of like right to keep and bear arms vs holding a commission as an Army officer. The Venn diagram overlaps only slightly. Do you violate my Amd II rights by firing me from the Army? No.
If ABC wants to have complete freedom, it can cut the cord and be an internet-only broadcaster. How many eyeballs do they really get from over-the-air frequencies, or even cable?

Under Biden not even 2 years ago, they used the levers of government to cancel people, to remove their banking associations, to pull their social media accounts, to remove their crowd funding access, to eliminate their income streams, and they did it all by flexing government influence illegally, behind the scenes, beyond the reach of any appeal - and often, beyond even simple awareness that would have allowed understanding. And then when these conservative victims objected, they targeted their lawyers and threatened disbarment, thus depriving the victims of legal representation in defense. Sit down and shut up.

I agree that the texts tend to absolve the furry friend but I think that's why they were given to the FBI or police by the "friend", i.e., Furry hastily cleared himself. Was he innocent? well, I can believe that he was the kind of person who refuses to know anything he doesn't want to know. I mean, Furry wanted to be a woman or an an innocent, uninvolved furry animal, so that tells you. Then Furry's lover goes out and shoots Charlie Kirk for saying that Furry can't be a woman so suddenly Furry is involved in a reality that would challenge anyone let alone someone in flight from reality.
Suddenly Furry's friend in texting him that he committed a murder but no one will know. Suddenly his friend's picture is on the news. Suddenly the police are on Furry's doorstep. And, suddenly, it turns out that Furry has saved a whole series of texts which clear him, though incidently, they contain utterly damning admissions which Tyler was making to someone he trusted. "Delete this." Not a chance.

I find it highly suspicious that, upon seeing Chalie Kirk hit and begin bleeding profusely from the neck, Mr. Zin had the presence of mind to think, "Hey, I'm going to claim to be the killer to distract the police so that the real killer can escape." It seems really far-fetched to me that someone with no foreknowledge of the attack would think that quickly. I also wonder if the authorities have investigated the individual who asked the question about transgender mass shootings that Kirk was addressing when he got shot. That seems a little too coincidental to me.

You just found out that your romantic partner is a political assassin and the thing that interests you is how long the planning took. You're not curious about why he just destroyed his life to kill someone who doesn't actually have much power. Regarding the oddness and stilted tone of the text messages: My guess is that they were into fantasy role play games. A big part of the attraction (i.e., here an assassin and man-to-woman transformation) is to dive into the character and "be" who you pretend to be. Think of drama class. Think of fan fiction (e.g., 500 derivative Star Trek and Lord of the Rings stories). Think about people who read books and then start talking the same way. Think of Trekkies and renaissance fairs.Then watch The Manchurian Candidate.
I suspect that Twiggs knew in advance and is guilty of much more, and perhaps a dozen or 50 other people on Discord were in on the story. Whether they were role playing gamers treating it as fiction or political revolutionaries remains to be determined. They may all have weak connections to reality.
