About that Coldplay "kiss cam" couple: I heard speculation that someone inside the company who hated him and wanted him out somehow finagled the situation that brought him down. I said I didn't see how somebody in the company could have gotten control of the camera and set things up to play out the way they did. What do you think? Is there any way it could have been a setup?Grok, of course, analyzed it in detail, and said, in the end:
It’s highly improbable that someone within Astronomer orchestrated the kiss cam incident to bring down Andy Byron. The logistics of controlling a concert’s kiss cam, the spontaneous reactions of the couple, and the lack of verifiable evidence for an internal plot all point to this being a random, unfortunate moment that went viral due to its awkwardness and Chris Martin’s commentary. The speculation about a setup seems more like internet-fueled conjecture than a plausible reality. If new evidence emerges, such as proof of coordination between an employee and the production team, this conclusion could be revisited, but as of now, it’s not supported by the available information.
And then... new evidence emerged!

I don't know what Coldplay is, but having affairs seems to have been flushed down the classy toilet.
Aren't these adults?
Althouse and Meade conspire in a cold play kiss? Who was first, Mr or Mrs? And second? Did it have artificial or aesthetic inspiration (AI)? Was there any grog involved? Perhaps a cocoa at dawn's early light.
Sometimes karma and cumupance work in mysterious ways.
This a confluence of events known as serendipity.
The kiss cam enhances a pivotal scene in Be Cool when Chili Palmer meets Steven Tyler at a Lakers game.
What makes this so scadenfreudiferous is that 1) everyone, justifiably, hates HR with the heat of a million suns. 2) everyone, justifiably, hates CEOs with the heat of a billion suns. How many little people did this bit of fluff force to watch videos on appropriate workplace behavior? And we now see that the C-suite types think little things like ethics are for losers.
Moral of story: don't get your meat from the same store you get your bread.
Pretty much the opposite of "acting innocent" is gasping, covering your face, then ducking down and running off. But if criminals were smart, the jails would be empty. If cheaters were smart, divorce would be a lot less common.
No setup... they just looked so happy together and the camera captured that. I wonder what kind of beautiful ditty he might have made up about their love. (She's divorced already; I kinda hope he does too and they stay together. They were happy in that shot, no denying... Didn't look drunk either.)
Serious question: was meade married when he began pursuing ms. althouse here??
Those long kisses where everyone on the streets clapped and encouraged them... they were both divorced by then, right? I hope so.

speak for yourself. I don't hate CEOs. What commie BS.
sure, a handful are greedy bastards - but there are thousands who are not.
I wonder if they couple had just kissed, would it have gone viral? I think what makes it interesting was first how fast they got out of frame, and then the realization of who they are and what they were doing (plus Chris Martin's commentary).
On the conspiracy side; did the folks that worked with Coldplay get inspiration from this Allstate Commercial.
I hope some of you enjoy the video. I wouldn't just put up another post to talk about the original incident. This post is about the conspiracy theory. Please talk about that, because that's the new topic and the reason for the post
"On the conspiracy side; did the folks that worked with Coldplay get inspiration from this Allstate Commercial."
Now, I'm suspicious!
You asked Grok "What do you think?"?
Maybe you should ask Grok "What do you feel?". I expect that poor Grok is beginning to notice that you only address him when you have some complicated question to ask. It's all very cold and transactional. You aren't really Grok's friend!
Even if there was a conspiracy to expose them on the Kiss Cam, it's indisputable that the decision to have an affair and then go to a concert together was entirely theirs. As with most cheaters and amateur crooks, the remorse comes only in getting caught.
If it was a setup, I suspect the HR woman, Kristen Cabot. How low the mighty Cabot’s have fallen:
And this is good old Boston,
The home of the bean and the cod,
Where the Lowells talk only to Cabots,
And the Cabots talk only to God.
Conspiracy is a dish best played cold
No conspiracy. That pose was just too lovely for any kiss cam to pass up.
The kiss cam is nowhere close to being as much fun as watching people try to put a poncho on at a Phillies game on the poncho cam.
I am sure that the camera guy is going to get a lot of good job offers now!
"The Intern" did a great job creating that vid.
The miscreants should have simply waved to the camera
This is what the Epstein Island visitors fear, not prosecution, but the wife finding out.
There is no conspiracy, that's just a kid doing a little gag writing, then filming it. Nobody set them up - they did it all to themselves, and were arrogant enough to think they could be loud and proud about it. And who knows what their home life is actually like, what their relationships are like? This wasn't peak stupidity - that happened a while ago. They just had a change in trajectory because they were caught, high-profile.
What kind of screwed up juvenile 40+-somethings engage in this kind of shtupidness? They both have beautiful families. The guy's wife is gorgeous. Shaking my head at the human folly. But they're both getting what they deserve. Senior executives and CEOs are expected to react well, under unexpected pressure, and they both caved, spectacularly.
@Aggie, forbidden fruit is sweet, at least until it turns into sour grapes.
What if Elon Musk wants to bank the HR chick? Huh? Huh? Never thought Grok just might be LYING TO YOU, Ann, didja?
Didja?
When anyone can monetize page views everyone strikes quickly with the fake stuff what looks official. Eyeballs garnered before exposed as a fake are just as valuable as eyeballs garnered legitimately…
What if Elon Musk wants to bank the HR chick?
He probably does, and he has a set offer for her if she says "yes", but she must deliver the goods... a child. It's not a secret.
"What I think is so fascinating about this is how willing people are to put their trust in these chatbots in a way that they probably, or arguably, wouldn't with a human being," Pierre said. "There's something about these things — it has this sort of mythology that they're reliable and better than talking to people. And I think that's where part of the danger is: how much faith we put into these machines."
Aggie: "They both have beautiful families. The guy's wife is gorgeous. "
You overlook a basic principle: No matter how hot she is, there's always a guy somewhere who's tired of her shit.
And the corollary is: No matter how nice he is, there's a girl somewhere who just needed new sperm.

Peachy: "I don't hate CEOs. What commie BS.
sure, a handful are greedy bastards"
The greedy bastards are the good ones. All the DEI, Green, Trans nonsense wasn't done by greedy CEO's. It was done by scared CEOs worried about lawsuits and bad press.
A truly greedy Anheuser Busch CEO, for example, would have said "what? We'll lose all our customers if we put this freak in our ads! Someone find me an actual frat boy, preferably one of the Duke lacrosse guys. That's your fucking spokesmodel. No, actually, not yours, because you're fired, you stupid commie. Don't bother suing - here's a million of my own money. Worth it not to see your useless face."

Most CEOs are dull functionaries who just follow the latest management trends (now, AI). Some few are conscienceless sociopaths (e.g. Steve Jobs). Very rarely do you find one with actual vision.
If I were on the Board of Directors I would vote to fire the CEO---not because he got caught out in public with someone not his wife---but because he was fool enough to go to a Coldplay concert. And I'd do it even if his companion was his priest instead of the married female head of HR. I'd fire her too.
If it is, it's Machievellian mechanicians worthy of song. It wouldn't take much effort to find the camera guy, offer him $100 to put the camera on them. If you're playing at stakes that high, maybe it was more and worth it.
@John Mosby: Well, at least you took all their kids into account at least as much as they did.
Aggie, you could look at this another way. The wife is about to be available, her kids will be financially taken care of, and she’ll have a little extra money and time on her hand; if you are interested.
A cold kiss may play in conspiracy with a chilled grog.
Yeah. Admiring poems. Written by other people. Low-rent Robert Bly. And that's low-rent to start with. Why not just watch re-runs of And Just Like That? Jeez.
Forget it, sweetie. You censor me, I dismiss you.
Well, I had never heard of Astronomer (the company) before this. That alone makes me *slightly* suspicious that it could be a stunt. And yes, since the CEO had to resign, there is the obvious "cui bono?" angle to explore if you think it could be a corporate coup.
The first theory -- that it was a "stunt" to bring attention to the company -- could be easily accomplished by bribing the cameraman. That is true of the "coup" theory as well, I suppose.
Is it really so far-fetched? I found their reactions to be over-the-top and a bit unnatural -- which adds credence to the "stunt" theory.
In the end, I think it is more likely that it was pure happenstance and these reckless-but-high-achieving individuals got caught in an affair. But I can't discount entirely the "stunt" theory, or even the "coup" theory.
