Said Donald Trump, addressing the graduating class at West Point.
"And we are buying you new airplanes — brand new beautiful planes — redesigned planes — brand new planes — totally stealth planes — I hope they're stealth — I don't know that whole stealth thing — I'm sort of wondering — you mean if we shape a wing this way they don't see it but the other way they see it? I'm not so sure, but that's what they tell me. We have the best tanks anywhere in the world. We're going to start ship building again We're going to start ship. We used to build a ship a day. Now we don't build them anymore We had a lot of people that didn't know much about getting things built, but that's all I've done in my life is build...."
"In everything we do, we are bringing common sense back to America. It's all about common sense.... And we have... a lot of very smart people but they have to have common sense. And we've liberated our troops from divisive and demeaning political trainings. There will be no more critical race theory or transgender for everybody forced onto our brave men and women in uniform or on anybody else for that matter in this country. And we will not have men playing in women's sports if that's okay.... How crazy is it men playing in women's sports? How crazy is it? So ridiculous. So demeaning. So demeaning to women. And it's over. That's over. We've ended it...."

Culture change is coming and the old culture change will be erased. Or at least so Trump thinks. But culture--or should I say cultural rot--is very hard to eradicate. It will take maybe a generation to get the job done--and will depend upon what sorts of persons get elected POTUSA in 2028 and 2032.
It’s a start
The purpose of the military is to kill people and break their stuff. To the extent that something detracts from that purpose, it weakens the military. Time for that nonsense to end, along with the careers of those who implemented it.
The underlying mistake is, on discovering that nothing is a bottom principle and it seems that mere convention is what's actually at the bottom of it all, ... is to think that convention isn't good enough as a foundation and everything must be overturned.
Everything runs on convention, and on discovering it, the right response is Derrida's, namely astonishment.
The academic left takes the discovery as demanding reform.
Derrida deconstructs systems he likes, the academic left deconstructs systems they hate.
If you can't explain why something is the way it is, start by being appreciative first.
Killing people and breaking stuff is fine but what about raping women. Where did that go. Humiliate the defeated husbands.
This is what I voted for.
its hard to look at the Afghan expedition, and be sanguine about it, sure it didn't turnout as badly as 1841 and Dryden, but then again thats' not the standard, the stanzas of Kipling, seem to have been prescient, of course most of the staff officer that arose out of the conflict, like Milley and Austin, took the wrong lessons, and those like Major Gant or Sen Chief Gallagher were punished by the brass for being effective
@J Severs That's the part that most of us could get behind. It just come packaged with too much corruption (memecoins, free jets from Arabs) and abuse of power (Foxconn, .lawfare, etc. etc.).
Why can't Trump be the guy at West Point? Why does he also have to be the free Arab jet huckster?
"The job of the US armed forces is not to host drag shows, to transform foreign cultures, [or] to spread democracy to everybody around the world at the point of a gun. The military's job is to dominate any foe and annihilate any threat to America anywhere anytime and any place...."
He's not wrong...
Trump gets room to operate by keeping you off balance. What Scott Adams calls shaking the box.
"The job of the US armed forces is not to host drag shows..."
It was as if thousands of flaming queens cried out in terror, and were suddenly silenced. I feel something great has happened.
"and were suddenly silenced."
Well, that'll never happen.
This should get a resounding "hear, hear" from the Senate Republicans and people of common sense, everywhere. How stupid is it to "Invade the world, invite the world"? Yet, Democrats and Moderate Republicans like Bush/Romney think it wise and correct course.
And I'm sorta shocked that liberal/left women are willing to die on the hill of "Men who think they are women should play women's sports". Just shows that all their feminism goes out the window when it conflicts with "The party line".
But sadly, Trump is wrong. Its not over. Its not over till all 700 US District Judges say its over.
"For at least two decades ...".
Some would say eleven.
One reason the armed forces have had problems meeting recruitment goals, I believe, is that the serving soldiery and the pool of potential new recruits have realized that our political leadership do not give a damn for their lives.-
Just imagine Kamala or her sidepiece Timmy standing on that podium. What would they be saying? The mind reels...
"People would say 'Why are we doing this why are we wasting our time money and souls?' In some case they sent our warriors on nation-building crusades to nations that wanted nothing to do with us, led by leaders that didn't have a clue, in distant lands, while abusing our soldiers with absurd ideological experiments, here and at home.”
Looking at General Milley’s official portrait, the point of those “nation-building crusades” was to fill up the chests of officers with fruit salad, not to, ya know, actually build nations.
That’s a graduation speech worth remembering.
Obtuse Trump: “ …I hope they're stealth — I don't know that whole stealth thing — I'm sort of wondering — you mean if we shape a wing this way they don't see it but the other way they see it? I'm not so sure, but that's what they tell me.” 😂
Trump is so low key funny. He was blindsided by that stealth technology. Apparently, he blinked and missed it. Didn't see it coming. It blew right by him. Maybe it just sneaked up on him.
And of course, he extends his enemies the invitation to mock him. Go ahead, enemies, talk about the thing I want you to discuss.
That trick seems to catch them by surprise every time.
When I graduated, in 1979, the Secretary of the Army gave the address. Carter only gave one commencement address, of course, it was at USNA. The Secretary shook the hands of the first ten who crossed the stage, then departed. It was a different era.
I see that, today, VP Vance shook the hand of every graduate of the USNA class. He's a Marine, so, of course he did.
I'm convinced that the Iraq War, and the way it was prosecuted, and the fact that Bush and the establishment Republicans that led that charge, that is what opened the opportunity and the door for Trump to demolish and take over the husk of that party.
They had so destroyed their credibility that for somebody to come in with a new idea, take a hold of that apparatus and turn it on its head, was exactly set. The ground was set because of the actions of in Iraq and all those other things. This and what happened with Biden and everything else will set the stage for a similar opportunity in the Democratic Party.
Whether or not someone is able to grab that apparatus and build something powerful and effective out of it will be the real trick, and we might not even know who that would be. But certainly the opportunity right now is there because the status quo of that party is tainted. Everybody's got it in for them.
Almost everybody. Which means that it really opens the door for somebody to walk in and go, I'll take your infrastructure, but the rest of you have to go. Or you have to get in line and this is the new way that they pursue the vision for whatever the Democratic Party is going to be.
Or you need one or two great people, or two not so great people who just have the, I mean, I wouldn't suggest that, Trump is a great person, but he was a person with a vision. And when things are in disrepair, vision goes a long way, vision and will. And I think it's entirely possible.
And I think the opportunity is there. I just hope that they seize it in the right way and don't just paper over, which is what you tend to think they're going to do.
I just love his authenticity. Says what he means, means what he says. Not self-conscious, completely confident, entertaining wit, elevating the moment for the West Point grads. My President, thankfully. People that hate him are missing out, bigly.

Well said. The arrogance of bush and the neocons destroyed the credibility of the Republican Party. Now the last 8 years has destroyed the credibility of the Democrat party and its media partners. I hope we can capitalize on it.
Bush ended the first war in Iraq. Obama renewed it with a premature departure and rewarding Iranian aggression in what progressed as the ethnic Springs across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Trump is moving past the traditional actors in both parties and their liberal legacy in disjointed union.
Oh, and the sexes are equal in rights and complementary in Nature. Now to balance the budget, end Diversity, CAIR, and labor and environmental arbitrage. #HateLovesAbortion
Homosexuals? Transgender is a spectrum, of unequal and exclusive character.

You know that the Democrat and Republican parties were globalist tools. They were all traitors and Trump's greatest accomplishment was pulling their masks off.
And I'm sorta shocked that liberal/left women are willing to die on the hill of "Men who think they are women should play women's sports". Just shows that all their feminism goes out the window when it conflicts with "The party line".
You shouldn't be. Women are more receptive to influence by men of high status. They will believe anything a high status man tells them to do.
And if you are stupid enough to go into 100k debt to get a womyn's study degree and be an unpaid whore for 10 years of prime childbearing years you are doubly stupid.
College educated womyn are the dumbest people in the country.

Only the most obvious betrayal. You can't leave out Amnesty, Read My Lips, Medicaid Part B, Obamneycare, John Roberts in general.
Perot was the harbinger. The 2012 primary was the pivot point when a critical mass of Republican voters wanted anyone but the anointed choice.
After Mitt Romney purposely lost to Obama the Romney wing of the Republican party lost all credibility and have lost ground ever since. Jeb got crushed and Desantis was even more of a failure to take the party back.
Referencing Joe Bar's comment about shaking hands with all the graduates--I believe it was Pres. Reagan at the USNA graduation in 1985 who set that standard. When I graduated in 1987, VP George HW Bush (himself a USN WWII veteran) shook hands with every member of my class.
"Why does he also have to be the free Arab jet huckster?"
Who got the jet? Trump, or the US military, when Boeing won't be able to deliver a new one for years to come. Go ahead and look for yourself, but you will find that it will be that the US Air Force is getting the jet, not Trump. The next president can use it, whosoever that should be.
Here is a good exercise, whenever NPR comes out with a story that makes Trump look especially bad, repeat to yourself that the woman in charge of NPR has lamented how truthful reporting can get in the way of "getting things done." I don't know, I thought that "getting things done" for a news organization consisted of telling people the truth about what is going on.
Once you have reminded yourself about how the media constantly lies to us about Trump, then check the facts yourself and see if you are still mad at Trump, or if you are just a victim of the "Common external enemy" strategy used by propagandists everywhere.
I watched the whole thing. He did a great job. It seems to be effortless to be so engaging.
On a side note, it was delightful to a perv like me to see women cadets wearing skirts that weren’t dowdy droopy remorselessly unattractive frumpy grandma shapeless frocks.

Amazing.
When Lincoln raised black troops and when Truman desegregated the military, they did it to improve the warfighting ability of the nation. Any social experiment with the military should follow that reasoning, and be eliminated if it does not succeed in that goal. It isn't really that complicated, unless you're using the military's money, lives and societal standing to promote your own bullcrap ideology.
