Isn't it Soros plan electing his bag "person" Susan Crawford to our highest court?

By the way, you don't have to say "bag person." The OED has "bag woman" — in this criminal sense — going back to 1960: "Last week another million dollar action was begun against Powell by Mrs. Esther James, a 64-year old widow, who charged Powell had libeled her in terming her a ‘bag woman’ for uptown cops with underworld figures."

Musk builds stuff. He’s 53. Soros is a financier. He’s 94. Son of Soros is in his 40s but is a nepot. Dems are in trouble.
Well, Democrats can't meme. I guess the more accurate term would have been 'toady' or 'lickspittle', or perhaps less critical, 'minion', since a judge has duties to perform. I notice the party hack didn't mention what is really at stake with this election, which is the balance of the court.
Even worse. The Governor of Wisconsin, Tony Evers, apparently thinks the word 'mother' is hurtful to some not included in the definition of the word.
Words have meaning. And the actual meaning of the word is worth more than the Narrative of the Day.
Governors should know better. This guy is a putz.
Pathetic.
It is pure idiocy to elect state court judges. The Nebraska Way is the best way.
I found this interesting.
From answers dot com...
"In British police jargon, a "bagman" is a slang term for a police officer who is responsible for collecting and handling evidence during a criminal investigation. The bagman ensures that all evidence is properly documented, stored, and transported according to police protocols and procedures. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity of evidence and ensuring that it can be used effectively in court proceedings."
Yeah, if you want unelected judges ruling you then have a Governor appoint them. The Key is to restrict the power of the Judges, but since no one wants to do that, the only way the the voters can keep them from issuing crazy opinions is to elect them and then force them to stand for re-election.
Giving them "Life terms" is a guarantee of disaster from a conservative point of view.
The least they could do is get their pejoratives correct. Regardless, the hypocrisy is obvious, but not surprising.
"Bag woman" sounds too much like "bag lady", a homeless person. Just call me a "bagman", please.
IRC, you had state judges in NJ force the state to adopt an income tax. In California you had their supreme court rule a ban on Gay marriage was "unconstitional" . Silly voters thought they had a right to amend the state constitution. Sorry, not when 5 lawyers in black robes disagree.
IRC, the Michagan Judges tried to rule that a state law forbidding affirmataive actiion and no discrimination against any race, even whites, was "racist" and therefore unconstutional.
State judges need to held to account. they are NOT non-partisan, and refuse to limit their jurisdiction. And "Judicial independence" just "Judicial supremacy" aka rule by lawyers.
Temujin, where does Evers advocate calling the mother something else?
You objection comes from their replacement of the word father, which would be a weird thing to legally call the female spouse of a pregnant person (if same sex marriage).
But go ahead, strip the context and start calling lesbians fathers now and make erroneous claims about it.
I've always thought of bagman as closer to the OED definition. For example, Hunter Biden acted as Joe Biden's bagman.
One of the responsibilities of the bagman is to create distance between his boss and the activity, as with a patsy. In that sense it kind of works. The higher probability scenario is this guy using the word heard it in his political circles where it
means the go-to fundraiser person. Being kind of an idiot he chooses to use it incorrectly
Teh dame was on the square.
>By the way, you don't have to say "bag person." The OED has "bag woman" <
Here's another helpful hint: You don't have to say "anything person." (Some of us in fact make a point not to.)
Letting the hoi polli elect judges or have them appointed by elected elites? Which is better? Which is worse? That's hard to say, but we can all agree I hope that this is a serious issue that needs legal scholars, like our professor, to examine. Just as during GWOT our current law doesn't cover how to properly fight subversion and terrorism within a legal system. And it seems such is also the case with the "lawfare" situation we find our selves in now. Some thoughts on that would be nice.
Thank god (or the OED) I don't have to, not that I ever would drop —man in favor of —person. Those who insist are little despots. Those who comply are little slaves.
“Dems are in trouble.”
Dems are nothing but trouble.
Bag Man is also an arcade game from the early ‘80s where the mumbly hero picks up sacks of money from a mine, avoiding the runaround guards and various, ah…pitfalls, which is another story, iykwim…
If you want to know what the Democrats are doing, simply listen to what they accuse others of doing.
Althouse's citation for "bag woman" being the correct usage is a libel suit by someone who was called that. A lesson there for the learning.
“Bagman” is just a term of Dem propaganda, in this case, similar to how Trump used a “fixer” to pay “hush money”, instead a a “lawyer” to pay an “NDA”, and how alphabet agencies are “independent” instead of “unaccountable and unconstitutional”. It’s stupid, but, but effective
Everybody's talking about bagism.
Hunter Biden was a bagman for the Biden family. The judges would be puppets. The Dems aren't sending their best (or maybe they are just scrapping the bottom of the barrel).
Confusing. I kept picturing homeless vagrants who carry all their possessions around in a bag. Maybe, with the economy on an upswing, they have been upgraded to shopping cart ladies and shopping cart men.
Did Ben get hit in the forehead with a hockey puck or did he always look like that? He doesn't look too chairmanorial, so I guess it's just as well the other guy won.
Principals with principles.
'Diversity' with special and peculiar interests.
In common usage a "bag man" is the collector of bribes and/or other swag for person or group so that there is no direct connection between the payer and the paid-off. If There Honor's are accepting funds from interested parties then they are baggers and the OED be damned. It's like that example George Bernard Shaw used about what is a whore? If you take money to f*** then you're a whore and the amount is irrelevant.
on BBC cop shows, the Detective Inspector's assistant is called his "bagman", which confused me at first.
So, Endeavour Morse was DI Thursday's "bagman"..
Then Robbie Lewis was Morse's "bagman"
Then Lewie got James Hathaway
i'm NOT saying, that Wisconsin Dems are coherent; just that it makes more sense in Brits
sorry William50, i posted before i read
From a Democratic bagman to a Republican batman... pro-Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. Here is to the conservative Anthropogenic Intelligence (AI).
She could be a former "bagman"/"bagwoman" who is getting promoted to "puppet", or my favorite when referring to Soros's minions, "tentacle."
Sure, the election is about redistricting, but wouldn’t Crawford likely have to recuse herself from most abortion cases because of her Planned Parenthood affiliation?
I was in elementary school on a class trip to the courthouse and we visited the courtroom where hey were choosing a jury for this case. Us kids didn't know what a bagwoman is and we asked our teacher afterwards. To her credit, she gave us the answer.
This is like saying that Trump was soliciting a bribe when he asked about all of the money that Ukrainian oligarchs paid to his bag man son. Or Carville accusing Trump of "incredible corruption" for exposing payments to Democratic Party electoral assets like domestically focused NGOs and press outlets.
It's propaganda 101. You accuse the other side of whatever you are doing, and this confuses normal people, and makes it very difficult to put together the facts, which is what you need them to not do at all costs. This is the Democrats first rule.
Rather than use the sex-specific term "chairman", it has become common to refer to the person holding that office as "the chair". So, perhaps we could just call Crawford "the bag".
Somehow it is difficult to believe Musk, with a net worth approaching $400 billion, is motivated by money. Democrats who thrive on the unbelievable can’t seem to grasp that this stale old bullshit is only believable in university cities like Madison and Tucson. Their other loyalists are in it for the graft, either money laundering or welfare.
Maybe it's a Wisconsin thing to carry water in a bag. Or maybe it's called a sack. I can never keep it all straight, like when you'd think it's soda but it's really pop.
"Somehow it is difficult to believe Musk, with a net worth approaching $400 billion, is motivated by money. "
It's very difficult for me to see how a person could attain a net worth of $400 billion without being motivated by money. Unless they inherited it. This is the problem with Obama's hilariously hypocritical observation that "At some point, you've got enough money" (that was before the two beach houses). It does seem that Musk has other motivations as well.
It's very difficult for me to see how a person could attain a net worth of $400 billion without being motivated by money.
For you and me, maybe, but people like Musk are wired differently. Money has no real value to him apart from giving him the power to marshal armies of talented people to build rockets and artificial brains and other cool stuff.
Little Benjie Wikler wants people all over the country to do get out the vote phone work. That's why he's making up the bogeyman tales about Trump and Musk. Wikler a typical lefty piece of shit.
Uhh, Musk is his own bagman. Nobody's ever seen a bagman like this. He's the biggest bagman ever like nobody's ever seen. Big, very Big. Bee Eye Gee BIG.
Let governors appoint judges to 6 year terms with the stipulation that the appointees face a confirmation vote before a new term begins. A y/n sort election as with a ballot proposal by the voters, not the legislature, and no opponent appears on the ballot. "Retain yes or no" are the only choices. Judges are reappointed automatically (until to age 70) and face retention votes before a new term begins every time. Like some earnest young reformer once said: "You can't take the politics out of politics, but you can take out (most of) the money."
Jupiter: "It's very difficult for me to see how a person could attain a net worth of $400 billion without being motivated by money. "
This is a very shallow and disappointing assessment of how Musk has acquired his portfolio value, sometimes having worked for years with no other compensation than his equity in his firms.
Musk wants humanity to be multi-planetary AND to solve seemingly impossible and difficult problems on Earth.
Every Musk company and companies within companies (Tesla is really 5 or 6 startups/tech companies in one) tie together as necessary components and capabiity of a permanent Mars colony AND solve large problems here.
Musk's singular engineering abilities, relentless and driven focus has delivered wild market success...but it was never about the money being the most important as the purchase of Twitter demonstrates.
Anyone else immediately think of Tony Ulasewicz?
The first time I ever heard either "bag man" or "bag woman" was the case cited by the OED, in which Congressman Adam Clayton Powell was sued by Mrs. James for calling her "a bag woman for the police." That, and Powell's hiring his wife for a do-nothing job /in his tax-funded congressional office, were the principal reasons the House of Reps tried to deny him his seat, until the Supreme Court held in Powell's favor in Powell v. McCormack (1969).
The correct usage of "bagman" is Hunter Biden. He never did any of the work himself, he just showed up to collect the money his dad extorted from MBNA to the Ukraine to China.
