Clyde's Top 15 Favorite "New" Songs of 2024 - Part 3 of 16
#14 Dwight Yoakam and Post Malone - "I Don't Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)" - Brighter Days - 2024
Dwight Yoakam has long been a favorite of mine, and his newest album came out on November 15th. I really liked this catchy duet with Post Malone.
Dwight Yoakam, Post Malone - I Don't Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom) [Official Video]
An action novel mentions a garrison cap, explaining that it's sometimes called a cunt cap because of its utility in picking up women especially in the south.
Trudeau falling has nothing to do with Trump, of course. It's not that the Canadians don't want to negociate with Trump on their future using a man who grossly insulted Trump. Assad is gone. That was unexpected. Maybe, maybe the hostages will get free. Maybe even the Americans.
Clyde,
I do so love your year end music lists. Always discover things I had missed out on.
Must say, Dwight's still got it.
Also must say that I can never look at Post Malone and think country music. He just doesn't fit the mold.

Excellent! Perhaps you should go stand in the corner now?
rh, you need to find some onlyfans girls... You're soooo lonely and lacking.
Random musing...If DJT has a great term and RFK has a good/strong run as HHS Director, could he run for President in 2028? If yes, would he run as a D or an R? Cheers!
Yoakum is a national treasure.
“Mr. Dobalina”, Del the Funky Homosapien is a fun listen
I would think that someone whose comments are always deleted as soon as Ann sees them is the one who should "stop boring us" and "go get a blog" and stop revealing that he or she is "soooo lonely and lacking". Know thyself, fool!

Jesus, Derve, can't anyone get through Christmas without a visitation from First Wives Past?
If that were true my Drill Instructor would have told me.
Derve's obviously having a bad day, and is barging into the Althouse, eager for a fight. Sadly the barkeep and her bouncer are catching Zs, so we just have to deal with it.
Anyone else seeing the Amazon TV Christmas ad wherein the happy loving dad looks like JD Vance? Not too surprising here in deep red Tennessee. I was just wondering if you're seeing the same ad in the blue states?
Derve rhymes with Nerve... as in - you are on our last one.
Clyde - thanks for the music link!
I’ve had a chance to read part of Natalie Rupnow’s manifesto — if that’s what it is. Assuming I wasn’t being scammed, I have to say that the parts I saw read like a distillation of every dollop of bullshit ever produced by any man-hating feminist anywhere in academia. If that’s the sort of claptrap that motivated her to shoot six students (one fatally) and two teachers (one fatally) at the Abundant Life Christian School then the feminist “thinkers” in academia have a lot to answer for.
It's called a piss cutter
Derve,
Why don't you get your own blog and stop polluting this one with the sewer effluent you spout every time. I've gotten more value from one Clyde post than your entire contribution. What a putz.
Of course, what really counts is Ann's opinion: she's the boss. As far as I know, she's never objected to Clyde's music comments, and she deletes everything Derve the Perv posts as soon as she sees it. Which one needs to leave? The answer is obvious.
Clyde, thanks for all the music links.
What's going on in NJ? IMHO, a big nothing, despite what I quoted in the thread about it what Trump said - For some reason they don't want to tell the people, and they should, because the people are really — I mean they happen to be over Bedminster... they're very they're very close to Bedminster. I think maybe I won't spend the weekend in Bedminster. I've decided to cancel my trip." He cancelled his trip- and if he's been read in on a reason he should, it's not his prerogative to reveal it. And if he were himself killed/injured n a mass casualty attack- the current administration would be in a world of hurt in January when President Vance is sworn in.
Are others trying to work people up into a panic? Looks that way. Quote from Voxday.net today: Overnight, I got word from seven (7) different sources out of the New York Police Department – so I know, too.
There is no way to report this without causing an immediate and widespread panic. There’s no reason to panic, but it would cause a panic. Think “Mad Max”-style, panic.. It goes on without ever saying what "this is. So- panic mongering as far as I'm concerned. Voxday is sometimes on point, but he's a bit off kilter most of the time. Have yet to see anyone else claiming insider information. And with one son a reserve officer and US CBP agent, and another an active duty 1LT, and other sources, I've heard no remors.
Is there going to be something that causes mass casualties? Um- do you think any political party that covered up an imminent mass casualty attack would survive the aftermath? And until Trump is sworn in- that all falls on Democrats. That and NJ is full of Democrat voters. And anything that happens in NJ affects swing state PA and heavy Democrat NY. And both will shift hard right should something happen they weren't warned about.
Kinda reminds me of that ancient Chinese curse- "May you live in interesting times and come to the attention of important people."
Some others here are like me, off on teh sidelines somewhere with friends and relatives who should be in the loop on something major- and none have issued any oblique warnings about avoiding NJ. On dates from A to B. Until some chatter reached me through a source- I'm not concerned.
OTOH- I do expect a terrorist style attack, an organized one, from the several thousand military age Chinese who've illegally entered. From the Sharialand ones, I expect an increasing number of (mostly) ineffective lone wolf attacks.
Derve- Open threads hosted by a blogowner means open threads. No rules unless the blogowner creates some. I see Bible quotes and lessons on Insty every night. Which I skip right on by. In the same way I don't go to Clyde's links. But- others do. Thay say so. For all we know, Ann does.
Publishing a daily blog is a time consuming hobby. Why I don't do one. Gathering an audience is, well, an unknown science. Far fewer commenters here then on some other blogs I read and comment on, with some of the same commenters I see elsewhere. Flighterdoc being one of them.
Old boys flexing for annie. Love it! lolol.
I got my own blog, btw. That's why I made my... wait for it... SUGGESTION.
Let the old boy clyde stay here telling us what music he likes, just like you're welcome to tell us how your daily shits turned out and the last time you fucked your wife... Enjoy fellas. I know there's so many few safe spaces for y'all on the interwebz today that you can tolerate people like clyde chattering about their persons night after night... Merry chistmas old men. There's no country for you anymore, I hear? Joe Biden isn't the only one aging in this country.

Benson Boone, ‘Beautiful Things’
Benson Boone, 'Beautiful Things'
Youtube
Talk about a breakthrough. With “Beautiful Things,” Benson Boone delivered a soulful ballad about fearing the loss of love, and a radio hit. Boone opens the track with soft reflection on how good he’s got it (“I hold you every night/And that’s a feeling I wanna get used to”), before his emotive vocals shift to reveal a deep anxiety in a plea to God: “Don’t take these beautiful things that I’ve got.” It’s no surprise the massive hit earned him a Best New Artist nod at the 2025 Grammys. The song’s vulnerability and Boone’s vocal prowess made it one of the biggest songs of the year. —Tomas Mier

Myke Towers and Bad Bunny, ‘Adivino’

Myke Towers and Bad Bunny have been frequent collaborators throughout the years. But “Adivino” is their most unexpected link-up yet, starting with the song’s dark, dubby production and thudding electronic beat, thanks to work from producers Cruz, Eiby, Finesse, Jarom Su’a, and Tainy. From there, Bad Bunny and Towers keep things unpredictable: Bad Bunny charges in and throws some cryptic lines about an old relationship that instantly got the internet wondering who he was referring to, while Towers goes hard on his verses, even rapping a few lines in English. —Julyssa Lopez.

A.G. Cook, ‘Britpop’

The London producer A.G. Cook helped put the “hyper” in hyper pop, with fellow innovators like Sophie, QT, and Hiraku Utada, as well as his longtime collaborator Charli XCX. But Cook had a massive year in 2024 — not only is he all over Brat, he scored an audacious U.K. club banger in “Britpop.” This song has everything: mega-caffeinated synth blips, shiny-shiny beats, Charli chanting “Brit-Brit-Brit like Britpop!” You also have to love how Cook refurbishes this entertainingly endless argument starter of a catchphrase just in time for the Oasis reunion tour. —Rob Sheffield

ENHYPEN, ‘XO (Only if You Say Yes)’
ENHYPEN, 'XO (Only If You Say Yes)'
Youtube
ENHYPEN have become one of the fastest rising K-pop groups, with an international lineup and a sound that sometimes veers into the darkly dramatic (the biggest song on their 2023 EP, Dark Blood, was called “Bite Me).” But “XO (Only If You Say Yes)” has a more lighthearted feel, opening with a dreamy intro and driven by summery flecks of funk guitar. Jungwon, Heeseung, Jake, Jay, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki all get distinct vocals, leading up to a chorus you won’t be able to shake until next spring. It’s proof of how ENHYPEN aren’t afraid to keep pushing their artistic boundaries. —Kristine Kwak

Kehlani, ‘After Hours’
'Kehlani, 'After Hours'
Youtube
“We don’t gotta take it slow/I’m-a hit the gas if you ready to go,” Kehlani sings. In the space of this moment of club-levitating R&B gorgeousness, the future sounds like nothing but endless horizons and shattered speed limits. It’s also a hot flash of early-2000s nostalgia, with Kehlani vibing along to the Coolie Dance dancehall riddim that lit up several hits 20 years ago. She makes the groove her own, lighting up a blissful dance floor escapade. Her year also included a shoutout on an another of 2024’s best songs.—Jon Dolan

The Black Keys, ‘On the Game’
Black Keys, 'On the Game'
Youtube
The Black Keys swerved back toward their Nineties roots with this year’s Ohio Players (yep, it took them 12 albums to name a record Ohio Players), teaming up with pals like Beck, Noel Gallagher, and Dan the Automator. The best song, “On the Game,” delivers the catchiest melody these guys have ever come up with, a beautiful mash-note to the baggy-pantsed beauty of vintage Brit pop, with Gallagher on board adding Waterloo-sunstroke guitar. It was a different retro look for the Keys, and they wore it well. —J.D.
I had a good day, robother.
And I'm not spoiling for a fight...
I just forgot the rules of fight club is all.
Cunt caps, huh? You guys pick the most weirdo discussions to foist upon ann's blog, but ok...
You all got your lil cunt caps strapped on tight tonight hoping to get some action here? How'd that work out for ya, rh? That's why I SUGGESTED onlyfans... ann's eating the egg salad only takes ya so far.
lol @ know thyself.
Doubling down on picking up lingo here, eh?
"I know ya are, but what am I?" Keep trying, boys. Remember I am paper you are glue; I write good shit and it sticks to you... Thanks for imitating greatness if you have no originality. We'll get you old boys where we need you to be before you pass... RIP dr mike. like Fred Sanford said to his late wife, "They're coming, Elizabeth, they're coming to join you!"
Have a good night, old boys. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out... count your blessings and take nothing for granted, right?
I think she wants you fellas... I can smell the cunt cap from the here!
No, we see an amazon ad showing a black/immigrant janitor singing while he works. So they buy him... wait for it... a SUIT JACKET and put him on stage entertaining coworkers with a song when he's on his break from cleaning the stage. Jacket comes from amazon. I think the worker guy would have preferred the cash and just singing on the job... it's not like they got anybody impressive in the audience and he got a better job out of his audition... They just dressed the worker up and plopped him on the stage to sing for them. I don't think that commercial is really going over as well as the East Coast/West Coast focus groups imagine. But yes... buy your trinkets from amazon and help support the prof's work here. Maybe she'd feel better doing her amateur work in a suit jacket?
Merry Christmas, Derve.
